Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This CZcams channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.
Thanks so watching everyone! I really appreciate your support as always 🙌
This is going to help me get thru my next hour at work. Thanks for sticking with the Break75 series and I’m loving the new range nights. You should make a trip across the pond and bring one to the states.
shout out to martin jones!! hope you're enjoying this one jonesey
RIP Hybrid 2022-2022
Goat 🐐
After the first 9 I was so pumped. Keep trying Rick!
guy is the one friend who we all love, much love props to guy’s positivity all along, every round. really helps rick along the journey
the break 75 is your best series, please continue to do it weekly
This and golf bidder challenge
Agreed but it should be called break 80
There are so many break 80’s series out and advice on how to break 80 on the magazines, that I think the title is serving its purpose as is.
The Bryan Bros, George by the way had a course vlog by the title break 60 and lost one ball, but still made 66.
sometimes we see you just throwing it away.... dont loose your curiosity
@@supay_inca honestly it really should be lol
5years ago I went to a driving range and got the bug. Went home and youtube'd golf lessons and you popped up. The following week I bought my first set. I literally play golf because of your channel. Legend
You inspired me to pick up golfing and I've been slowly learning this brutal game this past year on short holes with my grandfather who played most of his life. And I want to thank you for being the catalyst that started this with your amazing, and grounded videos, which in turn made me want to do this, and get these incredible moments I otherwise wouldn't have had with him while golfing.
Same! I started playing 1 year ago and thanks to rick and a few others, im at a 15.7 hcp!
Holesome stuff fellas (if you pardon the pun)
This is what it’s all about
I’m a 26.6 hcp after 2 seasons.. just remember to be patient. It’s not an easy sport. And don’t be too hard on yourself.
It’s hard to empathize with a guy who on his worse day would still beat me by 10 strokes on my best day but I’m really rooting for Rick and I feel his pain.
Love your content Rick regardless of the highs or lows. You left loads of putts out there today. Your brilliant content has helped me break 90 on a few courses after a couple of years of playing you’ve been instrumental to my success and love for the game, you and Guy are amazing , keep doing what you’re doing.
As a new golfer your series have taught me a lot on how to play golf. The break 75 series has really taught me about golf…..That no matter how good or how long you play you will have bad holes or bad days no matter what. So just keep working at it. Thanks for a great series Rick and Guy
As a member at Silloth GC, it was great to see you enjoy the challenge of what is a real hidden gem of a course! You need to come back in the Summer to see the course in all its glory.
Most over rated course going
@@behindthegreens67 spat you out did it?
@@francisbleasdale not in the slightest 🤣 just massively operated
Rick! I am a golfer who usually shoots in the high 80’s, low 90’s on tough courses. I recently had a major knee surgery, and am having a second surgery on the same knee in 2 weeks.
You have inspired me to get my golf game dialed in when I return! My goal is to break 80 for the first time!
The way you have attacked your game to try and get better has been awesome to watch! Cheers from across the pond.
Just play 16 holes.
Ha, that can work. I shot 77 last week, the 7th and 12th were shut due to flooding.
I Also shot 77 last week! This week I’ll play the back 9
God there really is nothing better than a brand new episode of break 75 with guy on a Friday night 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Fantastic content as always. Would love to see a Finch, Carter, Fryer and Shiels series of videos similar to the Good Good Cup. The chemistry and banter when you play together is brilliant entertainment.
100%
They’ve done some collars but never like that!
They could call the channel Old Old.
Thank you so much, Rick, for this great video. I visited Silloth on Solveig Golf Club just 2 months ago, the first golf course I played twice on my first golf trip to the UK. I enjoyed every of these 36 holes on a perfectly maintained course so much, especially the incredible, "Postage Stamp"-like Par 3 ninth hole and the really tricky Par 5s thirteenth and fourteenth. Highly recommended course, at a reasonable green fee rate. Thank you for giving me this kind-of vacation movie and a great thank you to the highly welcoming and friendly crew at Silloth on Solveig Golf Club. I will come back some day.
Keep going Rick. This is the BEST of the series by far. Your struggles will pass but in the short term they are adding a lot of confidence to my perspective. Thanks!
I love the hole preview flybys - so cool seeing more of the amazing location than you would from just the normal ground view. More please Rick!
I like the new in-video graphics. It’s easier to tell which shot you are on, and what your score is after each hole.
Have to say, I was not a golf watcher. However, since I started following the break 75 series, I find myself always rooting for Rick’s every shot. Love your energy and am grateful for all I’ve learned from you!
I love watching these rounds and seeing your thought process on each shot. As a higher handicapper like myself I find it hard to manage the course sometimes and you’ve helped me quite a bit from your videos. Thanks.
Thank you for keeping in all of the raw footage on the second shot on #13-watching Rick work through the progression of decision making, the wager with the course pro, changing clubs… it was golden content, hilariously relatable, and then a solid result of a shot. 👨🏻🍳💋👌🏻
Rick, your channel has given me the inspiration to really work on my game after 20 years of just a round or two per year. Now I'm playing 3-4 times a month and at the range 3 times a week.
I am so happy I stumbled across you and the lads a few years ago.
All you legends really showed how the game of golf is meant to be enjoyed.
As he given you the inspiration to switch from Nike to Lyle and Scott and Ecco though
The course looks mint especially for winter golf
Great content in this episode. Rick’s putting really let him down and the pressure to go for shots as he needed to pick up ground later in the round creates greater probability for higher scores on the latter holes. Can’t wait for Rick to put it all together!
Thoroughly enjoy these. Really good chat between them!
Editing and positive attitude is amazing in this video. Editor really really deserves a raise!
Was just about to post the same thing because of the way the drone shot of a hole from the tee was sped up to match the music, really very impressive!
Just love break 75 Rick. You show it ‘warts and all’, no hiding place, bad luck, bad bounces, but love this tough game of golf. Keep it going, the good times will come.
We don’t care if you shoot good or bad. We fell in love with you. Your personality. We’re here to watch regardless. Thank you for helping us forget about our problems for 41 minutes and 15 seconds!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the positivity that you are expressing during this round of golf. The low shots you were trying are effective on windy days but you need to believe in the shots. Going into the wind with more club is great with the low shots but make sure you're still staying committed and don't decelerate. This is why you kept on coming up short on the shots. Otherwise, you are playing better and your attitude will get you to where you can hit them scoring shots more often. Now I just wish that I could play this course. Absolutely a beautiful course for December and playing it in the summer would be a dream if it's not 100+ outside. See you next time Rick.
When Guy made the point about having a bad hole and cutting the scorecard out by playing each hole individually, that hit me deep.
Loving the Break 75 series. Golf at its raw best.
Good to have the break 75 back
It's great to watch and can hear the heads peaks change so quick which pushes you over the edge on that golf confidence. Good old hit and giggle are some of the best memories
It's been stated by many before me but let me just say I LOVE THIS SERIES!!
Incredible series and so grateful that you're still churning out episodes even in these conditions.
Jonesy loving every minute, Stella open, fan on.
Hahah
Skol
Jonesy goes on golf weekends to Marbella with no clubs. Blatantly
@@browners_28, …and sitts in the dark behind black curtains for not to see the sun and happy people outside the windows. The sun would defenately offend the devoted mindset of having someone to laugh at alone.
Rick, there is a light ahead with your golf game, physically and mentally. Your practice is paying off. Stay the course and breaking 75 consistently is coming especially when the weather gets better in GB. Having Guy with you is wonderful for you and the video. Cheers mate.
Thanks for finally coming to Silloth. It's my home course, and I feel I've learned a lot from your video today. I've realised that my 5.3 index around there is actually pretty good, and that I'm capable of going better. Great to see the club getting recognised for the course it is, and you're absolutely right, in the summer it's incredible. Oh by the way, that was a very calm day by our standards too! 🤣
Honestly, its a bit of a relief to see you struggling too. Its a hard game. Dont stop posting honest content, it is appreciated!
I love how Rick was trying to act calm, cool and collected, but you could see the steam building inside. And when things go sideways on the back 9 the old club toss into the bag rears it’s ugly head. 😂
😂😂😂
Rick, weather you are playing the way you wont to or not. You are doing great man and break 75 is one of your best series. You are living all of our dreams. Playing golf and seeing some of the most beautiful course ever. Keep it up and thank you for take us along for the ride.
Rick is like the one friend you play with that when he’s playing bad no one else can have fun. You’re doing your best to ALWAYS bring them up during the round and they continue to make bad decisions. Driver off the deck then throws club against bag after the next shot. Poor guy always looks like he’s walking on egg shells and can never just enjoy the round
I really don't know how you can post this. I'm not a Rick fanboi but I appreciate he shows the bad with the good. Not only does he video his golf games, he has to make them entertaining and relatable as well or no-one will watch them. As for throwing his club against his bag, I don't think there's a golfer alive who hasn't felt like that at one time or another. The only difference is, he has a couple of million people watch him do it.
Lots of choices of golf on CZcams and yours is by far the best. Thanks for the highs and the lows of your game!!!!
We need more Guy content! I’d watch an hour long video if we got more of his shots
Silloth is my favourite course. The turf, the greens, bunkers, views, the wild weather, lovely clubhouse, and its remoteness - what's not to love. Hope you go back there in summer. Grt vid.
Love it when you go to new courses - this one was epic
I love this series. It’s real golf and shows the struggle of a game we are addicted to haha
Very good. Winter golf is so hard. Mind you, that course was in lovely condition.
Despite the struggles at the end, this was much more enjoyable to watch than the previous videos due to you staying positive. I think it's important to show that all golfers struggle, even great ones, but it is sometimes hard to watch. Keep up the great work Rick. I love the content!
Always nice to see a golf course you have played yourself and you have a special memory of. I was privileged to have seen one of the best rounds of golf ever whilst playing with PGA professional Simon Edwards in a Northern PGA Pro-Am event a number of years ago. He shot an amazing gross 60, twelve under par. Admittedly there was little on the day we played but it still was the finest round of golf I have witnessed, keep up with your excellent videos.
5:17 I've been watching your videos for a few weeks now, and I truly enjoy how calm and engaging you are with those of us watching. Keeps me coming back for more and more of "Shielsy"
The positive energy you had throughout the round was fantastic, Rick-especially on the front nine. Keep that up!
So inspiring. I'm thrilled when I shoot low 90's but really finding joy when things work. Love your banter and showing why we play, beautiful courses and good company.
Have a beer at the end, I'm Australian and that's bloody important!
Love these videos. Just played on 11/30/23 in Idaho. Starting temp was 25°F at noon. Never got above 30°F during my round. Greens were concrete, watched a ball bounce 15 feet in the air from a 150 yd wedge
I grew up in Carlisle in the 70s-80s and first played Silloth 6 months ago. It was always on my bucket list and we played in 40-50 mph winds. My best ever golf experience
Highlight of the week Rick watching these. Game will come, keep at it 💪🏻👍🏻
Rick and Guy, you have once again taken all of us on a majestic journey to a place that we all dream about playing one day. The course was beautiful, and the golf was great. This series has got to be the greatest golf content on the web. I am not making fun or being sarcastic in any way. But to many golfers who are learning the game, or to golfers who have played for years never seeing any change; this gives them all a real-life account of just how hard this game is and just how much you need to practice to get better. It will also give perspective to to good players who go through slumps, which is kinda what this is for Rick it seems. But I want everyone to keep in mind that Rick and Giuy have put this content out there knowingly that there is going to be negative comments made. So Rick keep at it mate, and as you play these Break 75 matches, just take aim and fire away and remeber to have fun and not worry about all of us. We will be here as long as you are here, WE ARE THE SHIELS ARMY to the very end. I know you will be breaking 75 very shortly and we will all be there to witness it.
SHIELS ARMY ......that needs to be a t-shirt Rick....just saying mate....LOL
@ᴛᴇxᴛ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ👉@RickShielsGolf Im not sure what telegram is sir
Keep going Rick! Remember we only improve from a position of struggle, we don’t watch because we want to see perfect golf, we watch because of you !
I played 9 holes at my local course in 32F two weeks ago and it was brutal! I totally understand the missed hits in the winter wind. Keep going, make the episodes longer, and more of Guy's shots for the 3rd season!
Love the optimism in this video! Its honestly always better to see Rick smiling and having a good time just feels like better golf.
The putter Rick! Time for a new one! Boost of new confidence.
We have all been there. I just went thru a 3 year spell not being able to hit driver. Back to square one and I am back, TSR2 lifted my spirits. Your a professional, you will get back.
I really enjoyed this one. I play on Anglesey where the wind is rarely below 30mph. It's so hard to play in those conditions. Keep at it Rick and Guy, you'll be back smashing it soon.
Watch this on a big screen! I usually watch Rick’s videos on an iPad, but just happened to bring it up on a big screen tv. Beautiful course and great camera work. Small screen just doesn’t do it justice.
I will say that I really like your true honesty about your play. Obviously golf is a true game of honor as one of its core values. But you make it fun!
Brilliant as always!! Hard work in the cold and wind. Keep them coming please!

You make golf real. It will come back to you, love the break 75 series
Love watching Rick and Guy playing golf together.
Rick, when it rains it pours. Golf is such a hard game, but so enjoyable. All it takes is one bad shot to ruin your round or one good shot to make you eager to come back. That's golf, the most frustrating and difficult game of all. This is why so many of us love it. Cheers
i first started watching the very first season when you started it back like 2 years ago and i absolutely love it!! incredible content and masterful editing. As always, awesome when you're joined by Guy.Can't wait for the next episode. I feel an absolute worldy of a round in Break75 coming up.
Rick is normally great to watch and this video was took it to another level. One can tell that he's been working on his mental game because his frustration is nowhere near the typical point, as in other videos. Great stuff and I'm glad to see Break 75 back! Let's go Rick! Everyone's rooting for you to go out there and have fun!
Thanks for coming to West Cumbria! It's a lovely part of the world, hard to reach but full of wild beauty and the people there are tough but kind.
Love your attitude in this video. You can tell you’re having a lot more fun. Love to see it
That looks like a great course, be good to see you tackle it again next year in the summer/autumn when it's dry and hard! Keep up the great work!
I love that you get to play all winter. My last round was the first week of November with the temp of 41°F. Snow came the next day. We now have 12 inches on the ground. It's a long wait till spring.
Thank you for posting this video, so cool to watch you play a magnificent course!
What a course! Added to the list for sure. Guy cracks me up, he really is the positive vibes we all need on the course. Rick, you are wayyyy to far into your own head. Take the pressure off yourself and play more match plays etc. Or... You could always go on a GOLIDAY with Guy!
Class! Putting was miles better and so was the chipping. Class to see happy Rick
What a great course - played it a few years ago on a trip down to the south west of Scotland. Well worth the trip to play it. Your game isn't far off - just relax and go with it.
I love watching Rick's decent into madness by just playing average golf. :D Most of us play like this all the time. Don't feel bad man.
You know someone is in a dark place when they say ”The sand is going the wrong way.”😂
Love the channel! Lots of good tips and very entertaining. I must say that we’re not too spoiled in the wilds of the Texas Panhandle. I’ve recently waited through a 90 minute frost delay and have had more than one round that started in 40 degree (F) temps. Not to mention 20+ mph winds. Good times!
Your only human Rick, love this series.
Rounds with Guy are fun to watch. Keep plugging away Rick. Bad rounds are for learning from, not to get down on yourself.
Played this in late May, on a lovely, windless sunny day. As a 22 handicapper, I shot 93 so was very pleased. If it had been like those conditions, I am sure I'd have been 30+ Load of blind approaches, so was thankful for a buggy so I could pootle up and have a looksee.
"After a ropey lay up I'm in the light heather" said with such positivity, might be the best line on any golf show, ever 😂
Stayed positive for a good portion of the round. That was good and shout out to Guy... what a partner to make his job to pump you up, that was awesome of him. For the first time playing a course with all that wind I think ya did great. Getting there. As always good work.
Enjoy your break 75 videos, keeping them coming
Love this Rick! Just your attitude and tempo of this video shows your getting your swagger back!
Best golf course I have ever played was a member there for over 20 years and loved it
Nice work out there.
On the front nine you could see and feel your positivity. Your golf game looks heaps better looking forward to the next break 75
Loving your positive thoughts Rick, being looking forward to that aspect of your game.. now back to the show 🙂
Silloth is one I’ve always wanted to play. A defo for next summer
I’ve only started playing again a couple of months ago. And it’s good to see that a seasoned pro can still hit the shots I’m regularly hitting. Great video as always. ❤
Keep it going Rick, it’s just around the corner and within touching distance. Stay positive👍🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I wish we could even play winter golf in Canada... you guys have it better than you think. I play until it snows but then the courses closes so there's nowhere to go. :( Glad you're bringing us some golf at least.
So much better with some friends man! Much more positive and much more relatable. Nice crew you have, really loved this one
Stay at it, Positive Ricky! Looked like a fun but cold round, beautiful course!
Thanks Rick and Guy! Really appreciate this series.
Rick love your “Break 85” series! Congrats for bettering it by 3 strokes. Keep it up mate! 😂😂
Almost there Rick, it is the weather, all of us watching and a bit of bad luck
Guy is Rick's perfect foil. I loved on hole 14 after Rick gave a monologue on the simplicity of putting and then leaves it 4ft short, Guy steps up and mockingly says "end over end, birdie sauce, blah, blah, blah" and jars it!
Rick talking about the cold weather there, meanwhile, me about to play golf today in SW Florida and it's 80 degrees
