There is a punching to the face... But in the dojo not in the compitions... But in kasakihstan they play ashihara karate with the punch on the face but with head gear.
ashihara uses more circular movements in stances to deflect the attack + they will often grab and sweep , kyokushin will go into full defense straight line, just absorb the attack or try to and overspeed and overpower opponent. Make no mistake : kyokuskin and ashihara are real full contact, highly agressive fighting styles. and that is why they are effective in a real fight. Just no ground game, that part you have to seek elsewhere.
Really explosive and great strikers It is really similar to kyokushinkai
Cause the founder came from kyokushin he was in fact expelled by Mas Oyama himself for some reason.

Obviously kyukoshin fighters stand and fight but we use sabaki techniques along with grappling,throwdowns which they don’t

Kyokushin focuses on fighting in the pocket and taking a beating while giving one. Ashihara prioritizes positioning and footwork more

Have the tournament rules for Ashihara become loser about grabbing the gi?
It is allowed to grab the gi and do takedowns.
