  • The Pergamon Museum (German: Pergamonmuseum) is situated on the Museum Island in Berlin. The site was designed by Alfred Messel and Ludwig Hoffmann and was constructed in twenty years, from 1910 to 1930. The Pergamon Museum houses original-sized, reconstructed monumental buildings such as the Pergamon Altar and the Market Gate of Miletus, all consisting of parts transported from Turkey.
The museum is subdivided into the antiquity collection, the Middle East museum, and the museum of Islamic art. The museum is visited by approximately 1,135,000 people every year, making it the most visited art museum in Germany

I am flying into Paris to drive through Germany to see this museum for myself. I have spent that last 15 years studying the Assyrians, Babylonian, & Persian Empires.
I cannot wait to see Nebuchadnezzar the 2nd, cobalt blue tiles & pomp & circumstance of the original Ishtar Gate. The same gate the prophet Daniel walked through 2500 years ago.
I have goose bumps just thinking about it. Can't wait.

I was there four years ago and it's an amazing museum, but I had to queue for over an hour before I got in.

The most AWESOME museum. You got really good shots of the Ishtar Gate walls of Babylon. Wish you had time to get the Temple good. Really a fantastic little video. So much there to try to get. I forgot a bunch of things you caught. Is that music from Dead can Dance?
