- "That Bono interview you did was inner sanctum stuff." So said actor Richard Harris after he read my 1993 interview with Bono. He also said, "But that is what people who are interested in Bono, really want to hear about." Johnny Cash, meanwhile, after he read this interview, told me, "I loved it. I never heard Bono speak in that way, at least in public, about religion." Enjoy.

Esta entrevista es legendaria y muy buscada por los fans mas conservadores de la banda, gracias por ponerla por fin al publico.
Gracias
Great interview even if I’m completely against religion. You managed to catch Bono at the absolute hight of their craft! Thank you!
Enjoyed the interview! Thanks🍀
Thanks for listening to it Carlene
Thanks Per, I think you got it right re timing!
Great interview Bono sounded like he was enjoying it, it feels like listening to a conversation rather than the usual interview questions that other people do, a pleasure to listen to.
Thanks Lou, Bono did love it.
great interviewing skill
thanks, Patrick, it's good to know someone is listening!
Good interview during this time when Bono was busy playing the fly with the press and being cheeky. Interesting that you brought up Newsboys. They were huge in 93-95 for us who listened to CCM. Kind of dance- pop- rock during that time. The topic of faith has been woven throughout Bono's interviews through the years and has come up a lot during Bono's recent book tour interviews....but he tends to float around some of these questions in a poetic fashion. Not sure if he really answered you but the flow of the interview was very natural.
I'm curious if you took this type of interview approach going foward?
Thanks for considered comment. My approach from my first interview with Leonard Cohen eight years earlier was always to go for the soul of things. It bored some, and delighted others!
@@JoeElvis2009 I am delighted. "The soul of things" as you say....These questions are universal, but some don't care to think about them.
Interesting interview, what was the background to the questions about Satanism?
I live near the area, heard rumours re black masses on Killiney Hill
@@JoeElvis2009I see, did the rumours involve your interviewee?
@@Horizon344 Yes
@@JoeElvis2009 Interesting, do you think these rumours had any actual foundation to them or was it just gossip at the local?
Higher ideals and base actions..like arguing we donste 0.7% of our GDP to poorer nations but then moving your tax affairs off shore when a cap is placed on artists exemption?
I agree
@@JoeElvis2009 having said that I loved u2s music in the 90s..also thought Passengers was amazing..they seemed to lose that experimental spirit post 2000..Bill Flanagans book on the Achtung Baby period is a great read..'u2 at the end of the world'
To be fair you and many other can't claim to know all the details about U2's "Tax-Gate"...people assume they do. I don't, only what I read and hear and as you know, particularly when it involves celebrities, that the truth isn't 100% when reported by them.
@@rossco78@rossco78 Yeah but they've never explained it themselves..its their own business but my issue is with Bono preaching about 0.7 percent..you have to walk the walk..I wonder would he be willing to go on tv and argue that point now..im never seen him pulled up in it..
