I had just landed at an airport with my family to the state I was born in. It was Summer of 2015 and this was the first song I heard in my home state on the car radio. I almost instantly fell in love with it. I got to visit the friends that I'd known since literally I was born and that would have been my best friends in the whole wide world. I will never forget the last night before I would return home. We all partied in the backyard of a neighbor who was like a second mom and guess what was playing in the background? Whenever I listen to this song I remember that even if we live on opposite sides of the country, our friendship will never die and that, friendship is one of the most powerful feelings in the world. I first heard this song with my boyfriend when they performed as the opening act to a concert on Valentine's day. The moment it started playing my boyfriend and I both looked at each other with such shock at how amazing the song was, and in that moment we did exactly as the song said - we shut up and danced! I can't help but feel so insanely happy every time it plays, such a euphoric moment!
Much as this song becomes somewhat an anthem for most weddings I've attended,

I remember I would listen to this song during quarantine and I would daydream this whole movie-like scenario where I danced and sang along like crazy with someone at senior prom. I had been really lonely for pretty much my entire life at that point, so constantly daydreaming about having someone special (or even just friends, as sad as that sounds) was really common for me, and since music (and this song) was one of the few things that made me happy at the time, my mind would wander off a lot as a way of distracting myself from my current situation. Two-ish years after that actually was my senior prom, and even though they didn’t play this song, I had a wonderful date who also happens to be my boyfriend and we had so much fun :) I got really lucky to have an experience like that and get out of that very lonely spot in my life that lasted for years. I hope everyone else who’s having a tough time just like I did is able to have a moment where you have fun with someone special and they make you comfortable enough to just go crazy and not care what anyone else thinks too.
