- The Israeli government's spokesman Eylon Levy has been suspended, it has been confirmed.
The Israeli prime minister's office did not give a reason for his suspension, though it is thoight that the decision is linked to a recent online row with the UK Foreign Secretary, David Cameron.
Mr Levy is yet to comment.
On March 8, Mr Levy wrote a now-deleted post on X responding to another one from Lord Cameron that urged Israel "to allow more [aid] trucks into Gaza".
"I hope you are also aware there are NO limits on the entry of food, water, medicine, or shelter equipment into Gaza, and in fact the crossings have EXCESS capacity," Mr Levy replied.
"Test us. Send another 100 trucks a day to Kerem Shalom and we'll get them in," he added, referring to an Israeli-controlled border crossing."
But the Tory Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Alicia Kearns, says she does not think there is any other possibility than Mr Levy's comments being an outright lie.

It was tacitly decided that the Jews would not be allowed to settle in Europe ( nobody wanted them in Europe or Britain), then Britain suggested Palestine (which was a protectorate of Britain at that time), this proposal was then forced upon the Jews , who were transported enmasse straight from Europe to Palestine. The Palestines had no say in this matter.

There is no operations in Lebanon because the limitations of the Israeli military have become bare to see. They wouldn’t open a 2nd front against a much larger and better equipped opponent like Hezbollah. It had nothing to do with “red lines” from the UK.
Absolutely. And even the so-called "success" of their campaign in Gaza is based purely on (indiscriminate) artillery from the air. Their ground offensives are essentially non-existent apart from obsessive repeated campaigns against hospitals. They haven't managed to free even one hostage from the tunnels. As one Egyptian analyst said, if the Palestinians had even just half-a-dozen fighter jets to defend Gazan air space, the Israelis would be unable to make any progress whatsoever.

Thinking that the problem is Netanyahu, when Netanyahu is only representing the opinion of his party, and there are also other parties on the center-right and far-right who agree with him that there must be no independent Palestinian state, and that Israel has the right to control the entire territory, including the West Bank.
The problem is not Netanyahu, the problem is not one man. The problem is that a very large section of Israeli society agrees with him on the substance, even if they are demonstrating against him because of his incompetence.

If someone would have actually bothered to read the ICJ ruling and the preliminary measures, arms sales should have stopped right then and there. The UN warned weeks ago that countries who still supply arms could be held accountable for aiding war crimes, crimes against humanity. The US government even got a warning back in december from their own legal advisors.
Instead they stopped UNRWA distributing food, aid & medical supplies.
And WE joined them. History will not be kind

The law is clear. Article 51 of the UN Charter does speak to the right of self-defence, and it has outlined that an attack that would trigger self-defence must be committed by another member state and cannot have originated from a territory that is under belligerent occupation by the state that is claiming self-defence.
In other words, Palestinians and their territory are under illegal occupation, and therefore any attacks that emanate from Gaza-which is under Israel’s control as an occupier-does not allow for Israel to use force against Gaza as self-defence as outlined in Article 51 of the Charter.

Quite frankly it's hard to find any facet of this affair that the Israeli government hasn't lied about at least three or four times before everyone finally sees the truth long after events have moved on to some new thing.
(I am not sure at this point that even the firmest call for a ceasefire would make any difference, in fact I think there's a nonzero possibility that if told to stop now the IDF would mutiny and continue).

I researched the opening times of the Kerem Shalom crossing opening times 2 or 3 months ago - I couldn't believe what Levy was stating - that the UN would want it closed on Saturadys due to a supposed 'backlog' of aid - seemed odd. I found that the crossing has always been closed from early Friday evening to early Saturday evening due to 'shabbat' or Jewish sabbath. Well done Levy - you must think we are idiots! Glad to see him removed and hopefully brought to justice.
