Is this a video about Waxhaw or lifestyles of the rich and famous? Shouldn't potential residents be apprised of the whole story?
As with most of our erstwhile small towns, Waxhaw was once a relative ghost town with two antique stores; a mouldering textile mill; a small, necessities strip shopping center; and countryside from the town limits to miles and miles in every direction. The cost of living was reasonable. Artists moved in and revitalized the town. Budding studios and locally-owned shops began to draw in visitors and, eventually, residents from everywhere. It was "quaint" -- quiet, peaceful, full of history and creativity and a fantastic place to live. I was personally, reluctantly, more or less forced to move just outside the town limits a couple of decades ago, but subsequently delighted to find it the best, most beautiful and peaceful place to live I could ever have hoped for. Good, good times.
Kindly bear in mind, however, that growth in this area has been and is now utterly uncontrolled. With historic buildings on both sides of the railroad tracks running through the center of town, downtown Waxhaw has become a persistent traffic jam. No road planning has gone along with the ever-increasing development and the roads cannot handle the traffic wrought by the apartment/townhome and housing developments going up like wildfire in a veritable frenzy of development and supposed "progress." With the ever-increasing, surrounding development -- especially of shopping centers and mixed development "communities" anchored by national and international chain stores as opposed to locally-owned businesses setting the pace -- it is no longer recognizable as a small town and, in fact, is beginning to look exactly like Matthews, Pineville and other erstwhile "bedroom communities" (

Hi there. We do our best to pick out neighborhoods in all price points each town offers and choose some of the key areas or things to do that each town has to offer. We film what each town gives us. Thanks for the insight.
