  • A new megalithic stone slab recently discovered near the village of San Francisco los Nopales, Mexico, is one of over a dozen documented so far in the same region. The technique and style of the carvings has no parallel in any known artistic styles from Mesoamerica but bears surprising analogies with Tiwanaku and South American stonework and architecture.
In 2023, the ARX Project, in partnership with the INAH and the Secretary of Culture of the State of Mexico, sponsored the recovery and transportation of this new slab to a permanent shelter near the place of its finding, where it can be displayed and preserved for future generations.
Transportation of the slab was conducted using mostly traditional techniques, including transportation on a sledge over wooden rollers for over 150 meters.
