It is extraordinary to think that all those long decades on network television will be nothing but a footnote in Dave's career in comparison to his appearances on the much lauded Barbara Gaines Show.

okay,...i admit i love listening to Dave and watching Mary's explicit indifference
I find Mary's explicit indifference to be strangely attractive, as if she's channeling all the women I've known intimately over my long life, including my current wife. If Mary and I were a couple I can see a typical conversation with her:
Me: Sweetie, I was just thinking about....
Mary: (interrupting with a dismissive "go away" hand wave) Yeah, whatever.
I like her aggressive apathy, myself.

Honestly, seeing Dave do this once a week is all I need.
This, and his upcoming 30 minutes a day aerobics challenge, hopefully premiering soon. He will save a nation with that show.

Until this episode, i thought The Barbara Gaines Show was shot in front of a green screen, and the image behind them was just stock footage. I was amazed when Larry gave a wave!

I can never concentrate on the Barbara Gaines Show because I'm always trying to figure out where the hell this is being filmed. It gives the aura of the security hall lobby outside the local library. ...LMAO...just finished this and now they're introducing Larry and Bob in the back. Okay, insurance office! ...Or, a hospital.

Unfortunately, I couldn't send in my question regarding "Viewer Mail", because you stopped featuring "Viewer Mail". So I'll ask here and now: Why did you stop featuring "Viewer Mail"? (When Dave hosted his "Late Show" on CBS, I mean.) The "Viewer Mail" segment was always a favorite of mine. Thank-you for all you all do.
This is just speculation. Dave decision in 2000 to no longer rehearse anything could have been a factor. Viewer Mail and later CBS Mailbag gags could be relatively complex.

I was wondering if we could get either a lushly animated intro for the Barbara Gaines Show like the Pink Panther movies, or a really terrible one like Between 2 Ferns. I love how Mary hates being there and is so funny if she ever chooses to speak, but is also great just sitting there judging.
