I needed those buttery smooth transitions. They have good eyeball feel.
I wasn't only one that get Classics Optimus vibes from Reactivate Optimus Prime. Really would like if this fig would be available as single release, maybe for single release Hasbro would fix that short peg on gun.
Seeing that Soundwave isn't actually weirdly long has me suddenly very re-interested in this set

This Soundwave actually borrows its transformation scheme from, of all things, Cyberverse Deluxe Soundwave. It's essentially a refined version of that figure's transformation, with the only loss being the cassette functionality, which the cyberverse deluxe had.

These two-in-one reviews got the most slick transitions. Can't wait for Bumblebee and Starscream!

Great review as per usge! The smash-cuts are always a nice touch, and, for my own viewing tastes, I appreciate still being able to absorb the conversion critique in your videos without having to tune out much, so as to not completely spoil the step-by-step if I were to obtain them myself.
Thinking of these as VS 2-packs had me feel like this was a bit of an unfair match-up for the hero to have(as opposed to the "David & Goliath" thing the other has going on, typical for BB), but, whether true or not(there is at least some history via CV regardless), these two look pretty good together in the context of a R/B truck-duo; Optimus as the righteous, proud hero, Soundwave as the dark, brooding secondary with less moral qualms. Can they put differences aside to fight the greater evil?!
(Though, keeping Soundwave's glass-box chest design for no functional reason is kinda funny. Maybe a screen display like in Prime? 😅)

I absolutely adore the Optimus figure. The short rifle handle, and the funky torso. Gap are all that hold them back. I gave the soundwave to my seven-year-old and he loves it. His only quibble is where is the tiny bird.
Can't wait to see what the Reactivate Shockwave and Megatron's gonna be like!

I got this from gamestop in USA, arrived pretty quickly for being around a week before Christmas, arriving on the Tuesday before. I'm kinda suspicious of how easily available this set was, but the optimus's quality rivals that of the gamer version, but having a whole-ahh soundwave was an odd accessory choice. Jokes aside I think the soundwave is kinda neat, and all my qualms with it wash away when I think of it as a funny accessory to an optimus prime that I have tied for the best in my collection.
I hope they make a voyager version of this soundwave. I loved the Robots in Dinguise soundwave that turned into a suv van like this and in the Robots in disguise show where he coomes back, after the Prime universe soundwave dissapears
LOVE the editing transitions between the two figures...it's like a finely produced version of one of that panel task you do where you switch back and forth between reviewing two figures XD
Also, if you haven't got it yet, the heft of this Optimus reminds me of the heft pf the Studio Series WfC Prime...I have that and was surprised at how much Pime is in one's hands. It's a fab figure ^^

I’m surprised not more people pointed out Primes’ unpainted obliques. Really messes with the silhouette and makes him look fatter imo.
Soundwave comes across so much better than those initial pics it’s unreal.

I extended primes gun grip using a small screw, some masking tape wrapped around the handle (for shape) and some UV resin. After sanding it the gun works so much better, it doesn't look terrible out of his hands and is unnoticeable in his hand. Don't know what they were thinking, one of the better looking accessories almost unusable without some modifications...come on Hasbro.
Your video really changed how I feel about these two. I ordered it just to add the Soundwave to my collection. But now I'm pretty keen to try these two out and not just ship off Optimus as soon as he arrives.
I hope the video game plays like the mad max fury road tie-in, thematically I think the style would fit the apocalyptic theme of reactivate
Making a last minute switch from 3rd person looter shooter to Dating Sim was a bold strategy, but I think it’s going to pay dividends.
I know this probably isnt the place best to ask this but for soundwave's shoulder cannon was the hinge stuck for you out of the box? it was giving a lil more tension for me and it caused it to sorta irreparably stress the plastic of the hole. wider than the handle can take. Like was it a me problem or did I get QC bad luck
huh that sounds like a bad roll on q/c, but I also haven't really kept up with whether there were any reported issues as more people picked up the set

I dunno man, what will very likely be a F2P live service game designed to shake money out of one's pockets being in development under a different developer since 2017, that got along far enough to record voice lines and develop merch, then switching developers years later - with no information other than a single pre-rendered trailer - should be treated with caution at the very least.
