  • Lions patrol their territory by routinely scent-marking the borders of their lands so that intruders know to keep out. When other males trespass, the pride lions are quick to attack.

now for all of those people that say that male lions are lazy and only take females food, now you can see why male lions are important in the pride, they will never think twice about defending the pride with their own life, if this pride had no dominant full adult males the invasive pride could kill all the cubs in a few minutes and take all their food too.

Carlos Perez lol I didn’t even think people thought that but if they did they must not know much about lions. Male Lions stay behind because they’re stronger than females, making them better protects for cubs. If a Male lion walked up to a female the male would clap it and most likely kill the cubs.

People really don't know what they're talking about when they say lions are lazy and lionesses do all the work. Lions spend majority of their time patrolling the territory, which means on average they cover upwards of 20km EVERYDAY(most out of any other cat), because the territories are HUGE, they spend days away from the pride. Lionesses occupy the center of the territory while lions always travel along the borders. They only come back to the pride to rest and eat, they earn the meal the lionesses catch because they are doing the high risk job.

That young juvenile male lion is not very experienced as normally full adult grown lion doesn’t trespass on other lion’s territory unless they want to challenge them. You can see that lion is very young and not yet fully grown with his mane is not fully grown either and very pale in color. That’s a teenager with another sister or aunts who is also young.
