Bummer that others are complaining. This video was super helpful. This was the only place on the internet that had the seal - I couldn't find this at the box stores. So thank you for the amazon link to the seal. I didn't have to cut it because theres a check valve-union-valve on my discharge line. I didn't do any additional caulking - there was some kind of caulk on the seal I replaced and its obvious it ultimately didn't do much. I just ordered two additional seals for when I have to replace it again. Thank you for this video, made my job super easy!!!

Thats the ejector pit or trash pump. Sump pump pits usually do not have the bolted down covers. Thats where shit ect goes then gets sent up and out.

Why didnt you silicone the entire thing including around the pipe? Is also a good idea to install a water alarm unless you have an auto overflow syphon system installed for overflow/ flood protection..

Should of resealed all of it. If part of the seal failed the rest is ready too
I am just trying to understand the piping setup? Obviously you have a discharge pipe to a check valve to outside, but the other pipe that comes in kind of confuses me. At first I thought it might be a backup sump discharge line going to a sanitary line inside the wall (that would be the reason for the drain trap) but still not sure what the line connected above it goes to - a vent? The reason you are getting nasty smells from your sump pump crock is the water in the drain trap is drying out and the sanitary flue gases are traveling back into the crock. Very bad setup.
There are 2 pipe one for swage and the other for air. There is nothing wrong with the setup because it is normal setup. The led should be sealed that swage gas will only go out via the air pipe.
Yes the second line is a vent. This setup is fine and basically standard other than theres no union so he had to cut the seal.

Not very helpful. While I understand the concept & installation of a seal, you don't show how you installed it. This was a lesson on how to use bolt and washer.
And even the link he gave is bad. Hilariously bad. Fail.
