It isn't rocket science that knowing the future and having free will are mutually exclusive. It's extremely basic common sense. We're all dominoes rolling along under the fundamental rules of reality. This is the foundation of logic.

This is so true! I am a new believer and I just realized that it’s these blessings is how I know if I am doing he right thing by God. The more I walk with Christ, the more blessings I feel. Every time I figure out something new from the Bible, I feel the living waters flowing through me. In fact, I felt these living waters before I learned about them from the Bible and this is how I now that they are real and God of the Bible is real.

tim spangler I was born and raised an atheist in the former Soviet Union. Came to US at 20. I was immediately “attacked” by Christians. I even started believing but it only lasted a year. I went back to my atheists roots. Looking back I understand that I didn’t fully repent back then. Now at the age of 50 I am a believer again. First I got into reincarnation. While researching it I came across the video “shroud of Turin”. By the end of the video I was a believer. A couple of months later after I started reading the Bible myself I experienced the baptism with the Holy Spirit. I felt it physically spiritually and intellectually. I felt the electric tingling and hot honey in my chest with indescribable bliss and presence of God and I just Knew that it was in fact the baptism from Jesus the Bible talks about. My parents think that I put myself in trance and imagined it. My spouse thinks that it’s my hormones. I think my friends think that I went slightly crazy. 🤓. Then these “living waters” started happening. After they started happening I found it in the Bible. Let me tell you, I really did believe in reincarnation, but I never felt anything like this in those years. I just thought that it was cool that life will continue.
Tell me yours if you don’t mind.

Hi Mike, I’m loving your videos. I do have something to say about marijuana, though. I recall in your alcohol video, you pointed to scripture where it says not to use it to the point of stumbling, wounds you can’t recall, and generally being sober minded etc. Speaking from my own antecdotal experience (for better or for worse), the intoxicating effects of weed are much different than alcohol, and I do think it’s possible to use it in moderation. Even if today’s weed is much stronger, I think it’s still possible to use it and (contrary to popular belief) think logically and clearly. It takes a lot to affect you to the point of being “drunk” (ie stumbling, incoherent speech, “blacking out”). And I think in moderation it can be similarly used to be glad in the Lord, so to speak. Of course it can be very problematic if it’s a frequent habit, or if your use goes into the realm of “drunkenness”, but I don’t know if it’s fair to completely write it off as completely harmful. In fact, I think it can be very beneficial in some circumstances if used with strong caution. Just some thoughts, and I certainly don’t want to be affirming poor choices of others (or myself for that matter). I’d love to hear more from you about it, and I’d love to elaborate if necessary. God bless

Yeah I’m honestly conflicted on this issue. I have been a smoker for about 8 years going through high and low periods where I was abusing it and moderating my use. I realized that I needed sativas and not indicas so I only used those (they’re lower thc if you didn’t know) but I got to doing it too frequently, like all day every day. Well, about 3 weeks ago God started convicting me about it. I asked him if I could just finish my stash and I’d give it up. And that’s what I did. But unlike every other time where it was always on my mind for over a month after quitting, this time was easy. My relationship with God felt better than ever and I also managed to quit tobacco as well during that time. I’m not going to lie, the tobacco was way worse than the weed. I haven’t had the desire for weed until the other night when a skunk was in my back yard and my house smelled like weed inside. Then yesterday I was sitting outside and my neighbor was smoking weed and I could smell it. Idk, part of me feels as if doing it about the same frequency I use alcohol would be fine (1-3 beers a once or twice a month, if that) but I really don’t want to let God down. But at the same time I feel like he made it for our use, we have the specific receptors in our brain, and I’m almost fully convinced that it’s mentioned in the Old Testament, just mistranslated. I also usually have this weird thing where I really care about my Christian walk and focus on God more when I smoke.
Did you ever change your mind on it?

I am glad I found you on CZcams! I used to watch TV for hours after I came home from work. Now I come home and watch you for hours. I have been so blessed, and enlightened about things in churches, movements, translations and more. I pray for your ministry.
On the tithing issue....due to many situations converging that had dropped my income and raised my obligations, I was struggling to keep a positive balance in the bank. My church preached quite frequently about the verse in Malachi that talks about people robbing God by not bringing their tithes, and how the windows of heaven will pour out great blessings when we do give a tithe. At one point the tithe check would be what cashed through my bank and brought me negative. I tried to talk with my pastor about it. He just got very critical of my situation and how I was managing things. I cut back the amount for a while, and he has never been the same with me. I am in a better place now, and have my tithe automatically transferred from my account to the church. He still avoids any conversations with me, and has a different facial expression when he passes by me and has to say hello.
He preaches good messages, and does not compromise God's word to fit society. There are great people in the church. I just hate that my financially time seems to have driven a wedge. I am by nature a very giving person. Anything I have is from God. None of it is my own. I like to live with a cheerful and open hand. Thank you for addressing that topic.
Please pray that I have wisdom on how to handle the wedge for the last couple of years or so.
Thank you for all you do. I work second shift, so I can't join in on the live broadcasts.

    Hey Mike
Little add to Q-3 free will. 1 Samuel 23 (Saul pursues David) So David is in Keilah when he finds out that Saul is coming. David realizes that this would mean he would be trapped, so he requests that Abiathar bring the ephod. David asks God two questions. David is given an insight on what would happen if he freely chose to stay in Keilah. He then leaves therefore what God said would happen did not due to God allowing Davids' free will to alter the future.

Thank you for your question Miriam! I was directed to this specific question by Mike’s wonderful assistant who has answered me on a couple of occasions. I plan to ask something very specific in regards to Lazarus so it’s funny to me that he mentions it at the end of his response to you! I also have been raised as a jw & have been on a bizarre spiritual journey this year. After losing my son a few months ago, this question about what happens to us when we die has become even more crucially important to me. I had chills as he was reading your question. It’s also a good reminder that we come out of the organization more confused about everything & we’re not alone. I just had to say something & thank you for your question!
And to Mike, this is a couple of years later but I intend to ask for more detail on an upcoming Q&A regarding Lazarus so I guess this is a heads up?! Lol thank you for all you do!!

Thanks Pastor Mike! I do have one clarification also to make and I know you can shed some light on this as well. Matthew 5:27 "You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." A lot of people applies this verse even to single men and women, but I think this applies to married people. This is basically how I understand this text as well. Adultery is when a married man/woman have physical/sexual relations with another person but Jesus seems to be saying here that married do not need to have PHYSICAL relations to commit adultery because even by merely looking lustfully with another is already adultery. I am not saying that lusting after a man or a woman even if they single is right but I just don't think that this verse is for married people. Any thoughts? Thank you ad God bless!

It is very upsetting the gross denial of so many people that marijuana can be very harmful to people. Embarrassing to say, but much of the time I used to smoke pot was due to peer pressure -- because people seemed to believe that if you "couldn't handle your pot" it meant you were psychologically unstable. It made me paranoid ALL THE TIME, and therefore I did NOT really enjoy it, but I smoked it for a long time. Later, after I quit smoking it for six months for some crazy reason I smoked it again one time -- and it is clear that opened a door that the demonic knew had been closed for six months and might not be opened again, and I went through a TERRIBLE hour of demonic thoughts coming into my head as if they were my own. While they were in my head I was believing everything they said (which was basically that people were coming to kill me). It was like being paranoid on steroids and THEN some. I believe that had that continued all night I would have been dead by morning, possibly by suicide. These devils would come into my head for several minutes, then I would be in my right mind for several minutes; and this pattern repeated for something close to an hour before the moment, while in my right mind trying to figure out how to make the terror and madness stop, it occurred to me that this was like demons and I remembered that Christians believed in demons. I did not like Christians, but I knew that a nice lady across the street was a Christian and near my age which was 29 at the time. (Leaving out the long story here, a Christian neighbor commanded the demons away and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.) I repented for having smoked marijuana that night and have never smoked it again. I have made a LOT of mistakes since that night 36-plus years ago, and big ones, regarding my Christian walk. MAJOR mistakes. Even so, I NEVER experienced anything like that again. But people who don't want to know refuse to give up the idea that marijuana is safe. It is very frustrating.

Regarding weed, I was addicted for 11 years. The first 5 years I smoked weed everyday. It was destroying my marriage and my career as a stockbroker. I didn’t want to be a pothead anymore and turned to alcohol to get off it. I quickly became addicted to alcohol for years as it was destroying my life as well. At the end of the 11 years of addiction U turned to pain pills where I accidentally overdosed twice.
God rescued me. BUT HERE’S WHAT EVERYONE MUST KNOW. I’ve been sober completely for 13 years. When I go through periods of cravings, IT’S ALWAYS POT THAT I CRAVE. Many of my friends agree!
I went to a Christ-Centered program in Cumming, GA for men (12 month program). That’s where God rescued me and my family. I and many others agree that Pot is every bit as harmful as any of the other drugs over time.
    God Bless!

Here is my advice about learning Hebrew since English is my second language. There is no direct translation and it would be amazing to be able to learn Hebrew, however, unless you are a genius it takes many years to learn a language and it’s not enough to learn it from a book, you really need to live in a country and communicate with natives to really learn a language which would be a problem with learning ancient languages in which Bible was written. You are better off with either English or whatever your first language is. I didn’t understand the Bible fully until I read it in my first language even though I’ve lived in US for 30 years.

A semantic thought for the omniscience vs free-will 'paradox' (note I concur with your discussion on the subject).
I think the verbiage of "God knows what I'll do before I do it" is misleading. The premise of the paradox is that God is *not* time-bound, he exists without time (having existed without a beginning). As such, he knows all of my choices, with no real relationship to time, so it wasn't "before I chose it".
An error-prone analogy would be like me saying I know what roads I'll cross on a drive to Florida before I drive...because I have a map; my knowledge is not bound to the 2/3-dimensions of the Interstate freeway system.

    - Do you think James and Jeff spoke in "authority" over the Mormon?

    - Was he acting on self-defense or was he just ignorant and close-minded as they say?

I almost forgot: the word 'yom'. It can be and is used in all the ways that we use the word 'day', but in the Genesis account we are faced with a forcing context: 'evening and morning, day one', etc. If the days are epochs, then the seventh epoch is the Sabbath, which makes no sense whatever in terms of how everyone has understood theses passages until very recently, when scientists came up with their alternate world-view, which, by the way, has many fatal flaws in it. Not good to put our eggs in that basket.

I know you replied a long time ago and your teens are older, but I have not held anything back from my teens. I've never given them my full testimony, but I've given them the pg-13 version. The Bible is R-rated in content.
My recommendation is give them the full Bible, not holding anything back, but be available for questions. If you don't know, be honest and tell them I don't know. Then research together.
You will be surprised what they have already been exposed to and they will respect your honesty. That has been my experience with my teens. God bless.

Great video, Mike. Thanks for it. Re: Hugh Ross. I love his scientific expositions, but his Biblical exegesis not so much. For example, suppose that the words 'whole earth' can be taken for something local in the case of the flood... How do you cover all the mountains with water without involving the actual whole world? Why would it take 150 days for the waters to lower enough just to land in the mountains of Ararat, as opposed to down in the lowlands? Why the need to load the ark with all the animals when most of the world won't be flooded? The flood wouldn't have killed off the people living outside the flood zone either. Just some thoughts.

    • @ChipsAplentyBand
      @ChipsAplentyBand Před 2 lety

The Hebrew word (‘har’) rendered “mountain” is rather generic and the Old Testament seems to distinguish one from another using size modifiers (e.g., ‘high hill’). Many of us think of the Himalayas, Alps, Andes, Rockies, etc. when we read “mountain” but ‘hill’ and ‘rise’ are also possible meanings. The “high hills” Genesis mentions may be regional hills that are high for that locale but nowhere near the height of a modern mountain located outside that locale. Also, account of Noah’s Flood also includes heights in cubits, which will give a decent ballpark idea.

She attends church with me and she is open to the faith but needs answers. I can see God working in her.
Her recent issue is this, "how can we know the historical trustwortiness of biblical accounts?" Basically, how can we be certain of biblical history or is history knowable? Her argument is that, "we weren't there, therefore we don't know." How would you approach this reasoning? Thank you.

Jorge, in all of recorded history, we only have one God on record claiming the glory of creation, asserting the authority of being AUTHOR of life and all the world, and speaking directly, in the first person to all mankind, demanding their submission and obedience to His revealed will. He clearly says He will not share His glory with another (Is 48:11 and 42:8) and He instructs us to search from one end of the earth to another to see if there is any competition to His claims (Deut 4:32-36)... because God said He will not give His glory to another and because there is NO OTHER GOD on record in all world history to glorify for creation (and good luck "glorifying" a big bang, the next closest competitor for the glory of creation) then an intellectually honest person, specifically in THIS day and age, with OUR access to such a cumulative view of history, has to answer the very simple question: how could Isaiah the prophet have made such a good guess that there would NEVER be another "God" on record to glorify? Once the title work to creation has been easily established.. it's clear we are to submit to the authority of God, the Author of life, as He revealed Himself in the 5 books of Moses, then the prophets, then Jesus Christ.
False prophets are ruled out by their anachronistic error and contradiction to the existing chronological revelation already on record in the day the false prophet arrived: example: Mohamed, Joseph Smith, and Ellen White all came contradicting all books of the bible and Jesus Christ long long after the full revelation of GOd's word had been received.. (Deut 18:22 thou shalt not be afraid of him.)
