Mercedes-Benz Actros - Rpm sensors on PowerShift 2 transmission | W930, W932, W934

A test of the transmission sensor system is performed on a Actros with PowerShift 2.
Connect StarDiagnosis to the vehicle.
Start with the test of the countershaft sensor.
It is shown here removed for better viewing.
The two Y-cables for connecting the Measurement Technology to the sensor must be shop made.
The relevant electrical connection kit contains all the parts needed.
Pin numbers 2 and 10 are required.
The pins are then connected to the corresponding cables of the same color via the bridges.
Tilt the cab up.
This allows access to the countershaft sensor on the transmission.
Start by wiring the Measurement Technology.
Remove the cable tie on the wiring harness of the sensor.
Disconnect the connector in the center.
Connect each of the two connector ends to a cable output.
Pay attention to the following when wiring the Measurement Technology:
Connect the ground line of the sensor (black) to measurement line 4 with the yellow ring.
The signal is transferred on this later.
Connect the red cable to the black measurement line.
Set up StarDiagnosis.
To prepare the measurement, call up the HMS Measurement Technology menu with a double-click.
Select 'Oscilloscope' and then 'Universal oscilloscope'.
The default settings must be left as shown here.
The measurement on the countershaft sensor is performed with the engine running.
Therefore connect the hose of the air extraction system.
Start the engine.
Start the measurement with the arrow button on StarDiagnosis.
A signal appears if the sensor operates correctly.
This has a signal width of approx. 45 microseconds.
The sensor transmits the correct signal.
Check the main shaft sensor.
Here is a removed model for viewing.
Secure the front axle with two chocks on one side.
For this test, the vehicle is raised at the right rear axle with the handbrake released.
The vehicle does not have to be raised very high.
The wheel just has to be free to move.
Continue working slightly further to the rear of the transmission.
The operation steps are identical to the previous test.
Cut through the cable tie and disconnect the connector.
Connect both connections of the connector to the fabricated wiring.
Connect everything to the Measurement Technology.
The default settings on StarDiagnosis remain unchanged.
The engine remains off for this test.
Turn the raised wheel in the direction of travel until the incoming signal is seen on the screen.
When rotated forwards, the signal width is output at 45 microseconds as previously.
Here once more in detail.
The wheel is rotated in the direction of travel, the signal appears with a signal width of 45 microseconds.
Now rotate the wheel to the rear.
The signal appears with a signal width of 90 microseconds, which is correct.

Both sensors have passed the test and operate properly.
