You won't believe this outdoor museum!

What a discovery! Just outside the city of Riga is an enormous outdoor museum dedicated to preserving heritage buildings throughout the country of Riga. Founded in 1924, the museum has relocating 118 historic buildings to an 87.6 hectare site where it can preserve and showcase historical and regional lifestyles. This is by far one of the most unique and interesting museums we have ever visited. We were mesmerized and felt like we had travelled back through time.

👩🏻‍🦰 🧔‍♂️ We’re Stephanie and Chris, a couple who decided to put our high-stress careers on hold so we could travel. After years of planning and investing, we started a 388 day countdown at which point we stopped working for pay and started traveling full time.

It's beautiful! Are the buildings distinguished in any way to help you prioritize which ones to see? That's a lot of ground to cover!

Definitely a lot of ground to cover! Maps are provided at the entrance so you can decide where you want to go. There is also quite a bit of information throughout the museum grounds that explain the buildings. Additionally, there are docents inside many of the buildings that have a wealth of information. It was definitely an exhausting day.
We didn’t really plan to take video, but after our concluding our visit, we thought we needed to share something about this amazing place.
