- Part 2 of my Harold Hecht producer tribute. 1956 extravaganza about a trapeze act in a Paris circus. Burt Lancaster had in real life been a trapeze acrobat.
Hecht produced several genre classics between the 1940s and 1970s including The Crimson Pirate (1952), Apache (1954), Run Silent Run Deep, Taras Bulba, Cat Ballou.

I was fourteen when I saw this movie in Italy, i didn’t have enough money then at the last moment I was able to see it. Everything was new, technicolor e cinema scope. It was feast for the eyes. Thanks for the memories

I don't argue that Burt Lancaster was at one time a circus artist and did a lot of stunts.himself, However for 'Trapeze it was Tony steel an American trapeze artist who was the first to do the triple somersault at that time and he did all the flying stunts
The three main actors did several of their own stunts. It is known that GL practiced on the bar for months prior to making the film. I love Lancaster, Curtis, Lollobrigida and Jurado in their respective parts, and can safely say that TRAPEZE is the best film ever made about the circus world.

I was a little girl, when Trapez was shown...I only knew the Film by reading the magazine my parents would bring back from their evening out to the cinema....I wholeheartely agree: it's the best film ever about CIRCUSLIFE!!!!

@Paul Goebbels the Greatest Show on Earth is without question the best production on how a circus is run and the incredible work behind it. I like this movie but the scale is small compared to the 1952 classic.
What a versatile director Carol! Reed was! The man who gave classic movie Third Man. Great photography of Robert Krasker. Great actors. Great movie.

Uno dei più bei film della Lollo, di Bart Lancaster e di Tony Curtis. Il regista Carol Reed ci offre il migliore affresco sul mondo del circo che il cinema abbia finora prodotto. Ma forse non a tutti è ben chiaro. Oltre tutto un film che non dimostra per niente gli anni che ha.

Até nisso a Gina surpreendeu. Ela nunca atuou em circo. Atuar no trapézio , além da habilidade, exige-se muita coragem. Não pode ter problema com altura. Coragem não se ensina. Tem ou não tem. E a Gina fez bela apresentação com Lancaster e Tony Curtis. Gina Lollobrigida era uma mulher de mil virtudes, inclusive na coragem. Não é à toa que chegou aonde chegou, sendo admirada no mundo todo.
Além de.todas.dificuldades enfrentadas durante as filmagens Gina perdeu 2 dentes ao cair da rede. SEMPRE achei que deveria ter ganho um Oscsr pelo empenho só realizar este trabalho. Um esforço muito grande deveria ter tido um reconhecimento maior.
