Urban Stealth Camping Beside Campground Closed For The Winter

- Well, the campground was closed for the season so I had to trek into the woods behind it to hunker down for the night. I used just a camo tarp this time instead of my hammock, cooked up some good food (frito pie) and had a cold night of fall camping.

So true!
These videos are so relaxing
Most precisely realised and there is so much truth about this comparison
Waiting for some local ranger to start a CZcams channel called "Hunting Steve" where he investigates your campsites and has stake-outs in the woods trying to catch you. "He was here, I feel it in me bones!"
Haha don’t tell discovery channel about that idea.

Antithesis is a great way to put it.

Steve: Opens frito bag with dollar-store box cutter.
Love it.
You’re one of the coolest guys on CZcams.
I never subscribe to people.
You sir just got a subscriber outta me.
Yeah man, I agree. I think it also helps that steve comes across as a genuinely nice guy. He's just videoing himself doing what he enjoys.
@@GlenGoesOutdoors Just a step or two up from hobocraft camping.
But at the same time, affiliate links are a cool way to get something you saw that you liked and give a bit of a kickback to the one making the video. When he said the tarp probably cost only $6 on amazon i went straight to the description, then half a second later he said he didn't do that sort of thing lol
Steve's videos are so interesting that I find myself watching older videos that I've already seen just to get my daily dose of Camping with Steve.
That's exactly what I'm doing here 😄

I like that this guy doesn't act like a character. He isn't trying to be a navy seal commando or some weird hardass he's just an everyday guy doing his thing in the woods. I respect that.
Everyone is a character, even steve. Hes the kinda guy that drops dry humor and doesn't laugh so your never quite sure if it was a joke or an accident. "Big hairy beavers, this place is crawling with em"
You know people like that actually exist right
Its nice he doesn't go piss away his money at an Army surplus or Dicks Sporting Goods store, he pulls out a tarp, a spoon, a propane heater anda cheap bag. In the morning he wakes up exactly the same as the surplus Army dude... with $320 more dollars in his pocket for the same experience.
It’s a combo of relaxing camping and exciting hiding from other people not bears.Maybe 😮

I can't believe you did this on a work night, just to entertain us. I can't believe you just casually went in search of someone to offer help to. I'm also amused about things like camping in your hometown, but I guess you are just a big lover of camping :)
Here's what I love about this channel and Steve: This is a random normal guy who loves nature and loves to be out in it. He doesn't have a buttload of money and buys mediocre gear like the majority of us can afford and makes it work. In fact, even showing us how he makes it work, possibly giving us ideas on different ways to use it. He isn't out here trying to get rich on CZcams, he is out here making a few bucks and giving us content that is awesome. Everyday stuff. He isn't at Cabella's or Bass Pro getting everything, he is at Canadian Tire.....which from the sound of it kind of sounds like a bigger version of a Harbor Freight kind of place here in the states.
Steve, keep up the work brother. So many of us love to see you do this every week, or as often as you can get time to Hunker Down. I, myself, no longer indulge in Step 2's, but I've always got a cup of coffee ready for when you crack your Step 2. Keep it up man, and everything is gonna be allllllll'right. Cheers my guy
Just bc he doesn’t show it, doesn’t mean he isn’t getting rich. In fact, neither of us know how much he is making. But I can guarantee, he is making way more than you think
I think Steve likes to think he's a fugitive on the run....and dragging us along on his adventures.

This brings back memories. I moved to Edmonton in 1982 and lived in a tent for 3 weeks until I had money to get into an apartment with someone. I'd pack up every morning, just-in-case, but I managed to camp each night undetected in the same place. I worked at the mall but lived in a ravine just south of Whitemud and 159th. Good times, LOL.
Glen how did you deal with insects?
@@dwaynejones1555 I was in a tent. An old green 2 man pup tent. No bug worries.
Glen Anderson did you play on the oilers after? Haha
@@cap6741 Nope, that's "Glenn" with two n's. He's a couple years older than me. I did grow a similar mustache and *may* have used the name to my advantage while I lived there ...
I worked in a sports club on a seafront town in the south of the UK. When I first moved to the town I camped underneath an old tower for a few days (I kept revisiting that spot though), then moved into the local woods. My friend and I wove a "hut" from the trees in the surrounding area that was windproof, waterproof and most of all - invisible! I built a stone fireplace with a grill and a "hotplate" (some thick steel on top of the rocks), and had a full sized bed at the back of the hut. I kept clean at work, and was constantly asked by my mate why I didn't just rent a place - my answer was that I was saving nearly £1200 a month on rent and utilities. He joined me in the hut for a few weeks and decided to move into a smaller apartment afterwardss. I ended up leaving my job after 8 months in the hut, and moving up north. The hut's still there, or has been every time I visited the area - it doesn't seem to get much in the way of traffic, as it's getting harder and harder to get to... or maybe I'm just getting older lol
Steve is the man. I love how you act as though sleeping in the woods would be treated as a felony. Makes it all the better. Love your videos. Please keep it up. Love from Texas.

I have a semi permanent camp in a patch of woods that has an interstate and a truck stop one side and train tracks on the other side. Access is a service road for the high voltage towers that people often use for ATV's. Still, I do get the sounds of nature and it's often louder than the traffic.
I just pretend it's the ocean.

I can relate to this guy. Modern times act like it's a crime to go camping.
