  • Welcome to one of the most puzzling repairs I've done in a while! This Bissell PowerLift Pet 2260 came in with no suction. However, it was not clogged and the filter was clean. What I find is almost certainly a manufacturing defect... but a very strange one! Ultimately, we get it fixed.
    I would be very interested to hear if you have one of these machines and have run into the same issue.

    Hi Matt, Since there was dirt in the unit before you received it, it had to have had been put together correctly at the factory. My take on this is that for whatever reason someone before you had disassembled this vacuum and when they put it back together again reversed the piece that you turned around.
    Someone else messed it up and the owner brought it to you to undo what someone else did. You have a reputation for being the expert.
    Great video by the way as always, but after watching this, that is my opinion. No way could it have picked up anything the way it was put together before you received it.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  Před rokem

      Hey Carol! If you have suction at the hose but not at the nozzle, it could only be a couple of things. Either the length of hose that reaches down to the nozzle is clogged, or the new belt was pinched and burned up after install. Take the bottom plate off again and see if the belt is still intact and then double check the hose which leads to your tools to see if there is a clog there. Hope that helps!

    Wild. I have owned a Bissell for a year almost exactly and no issues until this week a super weak suction in the hose brush will spin but not picking up any dirt. I thought the height adjuster was the issue but after playing with it, it works fine.
    House of Vacuums, would it make any sense to you if the issue was that exhaust valve flipped and it working flawless for a year and then suddenly got little suction in the hose and no pick up from the floor brush?

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching and the comment! Honestly, I just followed the suction pathway from the floor to the motor until I found something that was wrong... in this case, the air pathway at the motor was installed upside-down.
      On your machine, start with the easiest solution first. If your filters are occluded and need washed it could reduce the airflow enough that your air tools wouldn't work. There could also be a small clog. Use the video to follow the air pathway and make sure everything is working properly.
      Best of luck!

    Hey bud! The suction relief valve isn't actually for safety in terms of 'too much suction' or dangerous to use that suction - it's actually about the health of the motor. They need airflow to cool, & will not tolerate a 100% blocked off airflow for more than 5 seconds or so, before you will get overheating issues, & quickly, serious overheating issues (which is where thermal cut-out then comes in, on many machines).

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for watching and commenting.
      I think we are are both right here, the valve really serves both purposes... protecting the motor and the customer. It would certainly self-destruct without it, but 4 or 5 seconds of full suction could also hurt someone. So I think we looked at 2 sides of the same coin!
      Thanks again!

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Alexa! Remove the hose from your vacuum at the back where it leads into the cup. If you don't feel strong suction from that port there is something wrong with your dust cup assembly or seals. If you do feel strong suction without the hose on the back, then your stretch hose is likely clogged where you can see it or the hose leading to the floor is. Let me known if you have any other questions, thanks!

    I have the 20872. I just bought it as a refurbished unit. The bypass suction relief valve keeps engaging and I lose suction. The repair place I bought it from won't do anything even though I used it less than one day. Is this an expensive repair, or do I just trash the thing? Bissell customer service was no help at all. They had no idea what I was talking about even though I sent them a photo of the valve plug that kept getting sucked in and stopping suction and explaining what was happening. I'm just really disgusted with this whole experience.

      This machine was made by EUP, which is a company that has made machines for them for well over a decade. For many years, they have had different companies manufacturing different models. For example, their new Pet Hair Eraser is made by KingClean, which is one of the largest vacuum cleaner manufacturers out there. KingClean makes models for other brands such as Shark and Hoover with their Air variants, for example. On the other hand, the original Pet Hair Eraser was a Samsung unit.
      EUP seems to have a very competent design team because I have always thought their units, even these swiveling ones, are designed well for what they are. If anything, some of their motors, for example, have been overbuilt for the price point. In more recent years, they have made the Bissell models cheaper by reducing the quality of the plastics as well as trimming the fat anywhere they could.
      To tell who manufactured a Bissell machine without opening it and looking for branding, you can look at the serial number. There should be a letter or a group of letters on the end of the serial number. This machine has an "E," which means that it was manufactured by EUP. The Samsung-manufactured models have an "S," KingClean's models I believe say "KCA," the ones that say "MDA" were made by Midea, and so forth.
