  • We finally updated ALL 3 of our old original 13" tube TVs on our 2002 Sea Ray 410 Sundancer. Each television we removed from the boat - TV in the mid stateroom, salon and forward stateroom - had a slightly different "trick" to remove them. We replaced all of them with a new 24" flat screen smart TVs (hello Netflix on the boat!)

    ABOUT MY BOAT LIFE CHANNEL
If you love the boat life, then My Boat Life is the channel for you!
My Boat Life is a recreational boating lifestyle channel where we share a little bit of our boat life. We like to focus on family boating & boating with kids (you'll see our boat girls quite a bit) along with some boating know-how and best practices for recreational boating and gear. We are not liveaboards or vloggers - just your average weekend boaters making the most out of each season on the water. We also work in the marine industry so you'll see off-season boat show highlights and other new trends in boating. See more on our boating lifestyle sites MyBoatLife.com and BoaterKids.com.

New viewer here. Thanks for showing step-by-step DIY projects - it’s inspiring to see that not all tasks have to be done by expensive contractors. Are these 12 volt TVs, or do you have 110 outlets in each opening where you were able to plug in regular televisions? And you must have some sort of WiFi onboard for streaming …??

Thanks so much for joining us!! We've done MOST of our own work in the last 20 years of boating, so we learned a lot along the way. Our boat has 110 outlets so we use a plug in TV and we are using our marina WiFi. That said, our marina WiFi is horrible but these new smart tvs and streaming services like Netflix seem to do very well anyway (better than our phones!). With 2 kids on board we often have all 3 tvs streaming with little to no buffering - so there must be something about the technology that helps them work well even with bad WiFi.

@@MyBoatLife Happy to be on board! Long time boater (30+ years with 15 or so boats, from 14’ center console to current 41’ express cruiser), but have always relied on the boat yard & contractors to do the work…yet now it’s so hard to find people to work, we’re realizing we’re going to have to be more hands-on if we want stuff fixed. So I attend CZcams University regularly, and am glad to have added your channel to my list of “classes.” Our TVs are currently 12volt, but I think we’ll have the electrical guy add 110 outlets behind the so we can swap them out for slightly larger smart TVs. We’re in a small private marina with no WiFi, so we’ll have to research some options for getting a smart TV to stream (right now, we watch content from our cable provider on my iPad, using a cellular connection).

@@karikarr6377 wow 15 boats?! That’s amazing! We are only on #3 but we’ve had it for 12 yrs. Same with hard to find good service people - it’s always been better for us to figure it out if we can… and many boaters are happy to share what they know to help! You could probably set up a hotspot device for streaming, and agree a plug in smart tv is best. 🤗
