"A MENTAL RETURN" is my translation of this beautiful and inspiring song... by yadong, kunga, tsewang and ghanshuk
Its snow-capped Mountains are the heavenly fences,
Its pure blue rivers are the floating ornaments of the sun and the moon.
Its vast green pastures are the beds of the stars,
This great land situated in the middle of the sky,
This rich land on the roof of the world,
This is our fatherland, the Land of Snows!
Oh Great Mother, the land of sows,
I came stretching out from the middle of your warm womb,
And today I sing a song on your lap.
Oh great Mother, the land of snows,
This is a song of auspiciousness taught by you.
This is a gift for having traversed across my fatherland!
The six migratory beings are our kind parents,
Non-violence and peace are our mental wealth,
Bravery, wisdom and heroism are the strength of our heart:
The first people to take residence in this high land,
It's us the red-faced Tibetans of the land of snow.
    Oh Tibetan brothers and sisters,
We came here remembering your profound love and friendship,
Today, in front of you we perform a dance!
    Oh Tibetan brothers and sisters,
This is a dance taught by you,
This is a gift to celebrate the meeting of us brothers and sisters!
    Oh Tibetan brothers and sisters,
This is a dance taught by you,
This is a gift to celebrate the meeting of us brothers and sisters!
This is a gift to celebrate the meeting of us brothers and sisters!

I have listened to songs in Hindi, English, Russian, Mongolian, Japanese. But nothing is as uplifting as hearing a modern song in my own mother tongue - precious Tibetan.

If you are still with Yadong, Kunga, Tashi Nyima and other Tibetan singers, please tell them that Tibetans outside admire their talents, feel grateful for contribution to our music culture, respect them for their national pride and patriotism and love them as our brothers and sisters. Please do thank them for their gift of music, which we can enjoy with pride in foreign lands.

If you refers the Chamdo battle at 10/7/1950, you can look for Tsering Shakya's book for reference. Tibetan troops were surrounded and gave up very quick. About 180 Tibetans causulties (killed and wounded), and 5738 being captured and let go back to their home with handed money for travel expenses. More

    2. Antichinafoever,
Knowing who we are and taking pride in our identity is important not only to keep Tibet alive but also for our own mental health as individuals. When people forget who they are, or when they are ashamed of who they are, there is the risk of developing identity crisis and different types of personality disorders.
As you seem happy in your identity as a Tibetan, there is no need to be ashamed of being assimilated. We all are to some degree and it is inevitable.

During Kanding Rebellion, the worst was at Changtreng Sampheling where hundreds of monks and laymen were killed. Even the 1959 Lhasa fighting was in very small scale. You can check Shakya's book for that. If you think the real number is more than Kangchenpa's, you are out of your mind. Most of Tibetan historians don't take that number.

I am glad you like reading my comments. I too like reading comments and listening to Tibetan music.
Considering the environment we live in (having to live a life surrounded by non-Tibetan people), I think certain degree of assimilation is inevitable. What is important is for us to always remember who we are in our heart of hearts.

Tibetans in TAR and neighbouring provinces would not risk their lives to rise up against the Chinese if they are as happy and satisfied as some of the Chinese on the youtube want us to believe.
Instead of posting hate mails here, the Chinese should ask their government to lend a sincere ear to the grievances of the Tibetans. Mutual understanding and respect is the only solution going forth and it is the Chinese government and Chinese people who have the power to bring about that change.

Dont' be silly, I had lots of Tibetan friends back in China. It's not what you think in there, most of Tibetan people have already accepted China as their official country, all they want is preserving their own culture and religion. They are peaceful people who lived harmonically with the rest ethnics in China. It's only a few outsiders who try to promote violence and provoke hatret, such as, Dalai Lama. If u dont' believe me, I suggest you go visit Lhasa urself.
