I think this is the point that Hans Zimmer became the composer we know him as today. Even though he had been making soundtracks for over 10 years they all sound very different from this more epic style (listen to Driving Miss Daisy, Rain Man or True Romance for comparison).

...I'm going to be happy if we just get more Guillermo del Toro, Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Tim Burton movies. Other directors aren't really worth it. ...Other than Istvan Szabo. I'd give anything to get another long movie from him, Sunshine was impressive.

Crimson Tide, Lion King, The Rock, The Peacemaker... every Zimmer score from the 90’s sound the same. The only exception I can remember is As good as it gets.
This is possibly the best ever music wrote for a film? In my 'humble opinion' made the film.

Aztán gyerünk, nekigyürkőztem. Legyőztem az akadályokat és gyorsan kerestem újakat. Különben még csak különösebben törtető se voltam, nem volt hozzá elég fantáziám.

Daniela, I think it is fair to assume that Hans Zimmer has been influenced by Russian and Ukrainian styles of music in his career. But, I also hear a lot f German and British influence in his music too! The singing you hear at the end of this piece is a Traditional British Christian hymn.
