He joined to defend the south and was raised by Apaches who historically would fight along the Confederacy to keep their very old tradition of slavery they had that pre-dates European arrival, Apaches would take prisoners from other tribes and would force them to work and treat them poorly a practice that all plains Indians had and lost after the civil war but kept practicing it for years after illegally. After fighting for years in the civil war with conflicted morals because he himself hated slavery but was fighting abolitionists. So he went to the table fort and gave himself up. They tracked were is battalion was from hexes mud on his boots and massacred his battle brothers. After this he became a bounty hunter but never took off the Confederate uniform.
