  • Here's 3 ways to fix an MMI screen that's stuck open or won't close. The whole fix is super quick and it only costs $9.56!!! (I've had to change this quite a bit, price CAN fluctuate)

    Great video. Definitely took longer than 1-2 hours but I had a different issue as well. All the gears and motor were intact. The axle was slight bent. I straightened it, slightly sanded it, but the main issue was the arm that slides up and back was hitting a part of the metal that the arm channels over and it was hitting that getting it stuck. So I filed that down and reassembled. Took a few times to get the wire harness configured back just right or it wouldn’t open and close properly again. Thank you!

      Glad to hear it worked out, the whole idea of this channel is to help people with stuff they might feel are too difficult jobs to do themselves. Thanks for watching and getting back to me, it means a lot :)

      Yeah I doubt it'd work with the twisted axle, but happy to hear it fixed yours!

    Thank you , My D4 display just stopped opening and closing and makes a hell of a racket ... Clearly gears slipping.
    Thanks for the detailed video - bit scared to break stuff taking the trim apart but will search for the spareparts first.
    Where did you get the brass gear set ?

    • @adamdezsi
      @adamdezsi  Před rokem +1

      Grabbed it off of ebay, there should be a link in the description, unless that one's broken - lmk and I'll find another one. :)

    How did you get the gears lined up at the end? Is the black piece supposed to go all the way back sticking up when it’s closed or somehow catch at the end?

    Hi Adam, thanks for the video! I have replaced the gears but have one small brass one left over, is that a spare? Screen seems to work fine now though! Thanks!

      Actually all sorted now, realised it was for the motor when I was putting it back together. Also I actually found it easier taking the unit out of the car, was too fiddly in-situ! Glad it's fixed the awful ticking noise!

    My MMI screen is stuck in half down position and my steering wheel went heavy at the same time. I put a piece a paper to hold the MMI screen up but then I get a burning smell
    Any suggestions?

      This is a D3, unfortunately I've never had the D4. I'd imagine the mechanism should be fairly similar though.
