Coach Bob Davie's final season. Coach Pete Carroll's biggest margin of defeat (edit: until 2009). To date, the last time the Fighting Irish beat the Trojans (edit: until 2010).
LOL.... Well played. To be honest, I actually really appreciate your videos. You show highlights for both teams. As you can see from my moniker (scbtnd) I'm a HUGE fan of the rivalry. So much so, that I've been to every SC/nd game since 1990. Thus, I enjoy watching these old highlights..... And just between you and me, I think the Irish have a real shot to end the streak this season...
I love how you show both the USC and ND ups and downs. It gives a rather unbiased opinion. The only thing I don't like about the video is the quality. The graphics are rather fuzzy, but still discernible. Great video! 4 stars, buddy!
I'm still working on posting clips of every game in the 1983 - 1995 undefeated streak. By the time I'm done I'll be ready to post highlights of the 2009 game.
That was a pretty good game. I appreciate the fact that Pete Carroll called a fake punt, even if it didn't get a first down. Two years prior, the Trojans, under Paul Hackett, had an 18 point lead in the third quarter and were driving inside the Irish 40. Hackett had the chance to drive the dagger in deeper, but called a punt, instead. I saw the Irish players come alive after that and they came back to win. All season long, Hackett said his team wasn't ready yet to play at the top level. His coaching decisions reflected a lack of confidence in his players. Taking risks is a way to challenge your players to rise to the occasion and Carroll did that in spades. Irish deserved to win this game and it was a good one, but it would be their last win against the Trojans for nine years.
Notre Dame has regained control of this series.. and they owned USC from 1986-1995 as well.. it’s a series of runs for both teams.. USC will never catch ND in overall series. They always do something stupid as a program it seems to derail their own built in advantages..
@@irishcole3516 Both schools have changes in their coaching staffs. A change in who dominates usually follows. The game is much different now with players taking advantage of transfer portals and coaches leaving for what they believe are greener pastures. I think the current changes will favor USC, but for how long? Both schools have demanding alumni and I suspect that's why Brian Kelly left. Lincoln Riley already has his hands full with USC alums and donors wanting to fund players via the NIL. I'll give ND credit. They put USC in the national spotlight when Knute Rockne recommended Howard Jones for the HC job.
Ahh, I see that the quality is 200% better, but not I have the problem of the video being slightly choppy. Not something to worry about though. Excellent video ;-)
That's strange. They've played every year since the '40s. Rocket is right, try the search feature. I'm sure there are more recent videos on YT of ND-U$C.
Wow, these highlights are tremendously appreciated. I don't even remember what if felt like after that win anymore it seems so long ago. And Carlyle Holiday running the option...oh my...it's too bad Tyrone Willingham misused him so much until 2004.
was there as a kid for that game... gonna be there in my last year as a student in 2009. Thanks for putting these up. Go Irish!

Too bad Duff didn't score on that Int towards the end of the game. Go Irish! ☘
This year's nd/sc game should be a great one...just like 05...rooting for ND but u can NEVER underestimate SoCal

After the Rams moved out of LA in1994 the Trojans assumed the role of that city's professional football team.
What do you mean?!?.....The Trojans had been the better team for decades.

I'm trying to find some more recent video of nd wins over Southern Cal. Have you posted any games after 2001?
maybe with qb commit, Everrett Golson we can get a running qb like holliday
Did you try clicking on the HQ button? The quality is vastly improved.
@RocketShark Maybe you can get some clips from the 2010 game :)

@scbtnd Yes there are plenty on here from the 2010 ND USC game. It was a great game, maybe you should take a look at the highlights.
Before Pete Caroll began paying his players
@scbtnd ND hasnt beaten USC since 2001.... except this past saturday
@ciccone39 wish I knew but I seem to remember the one from 2000 being different and really good.
The current NBC one is just lame.
This game was before Pete Carroll got his cheating in place
look at SC now, ND is so going down in 3 days!!!!!
