I don't know why I watch these videos of yours because I will never do anything like that. So many supplies and tools! So tiny! But fascinating, so fascinating. And very cute!
If you were to wear it as a necklace, when you take the pencil out and open it, the pretty side would still be facing out ward and you would be able to write on it correctly without twisting the chain. At least that’s how it looks to me.
Nobody but YOU would think to do this!!! If my Daddy met you, he'd wish you were his daughter!!! So clever!! Haha! I'm pretty good with stuff like this, but you are the Queen!! Super cool!!! Austin,TX USA
These are just great! I love making "littles", and I could actually see this going into a bigger journal. When I have the wrong color jewelry finding, I use a Krylon metallic pen. The paint comes out very liquid, and it holds up really well. (I know, picky picky...)
Hi Nik: No one improvises like you do! I wouldn’t know where to start. Your projects are always fabulous. As soon as I get my hands on a small hinge, I’ll begin to tackle this. Printed the little covers out already. Thank you for that. 💜😎🇺🇸
So stinkin’ cute! I love it! Tim Holtz has Foundry Wax (it’s a guilding wax that you apply wet with a small paint brush (comes in three colors )if you make a mistake you can wipe away, when you’re happy you will set it permanently with a heat tool until you get shiny metal guilding in the Color of your choice! You could do just the bale or you could do the brad and tubing as well to match! HTH and TFS
I love this itty bitty notebook. I will source a hinge and other item, the I will make a couple. Thank you so much, I always enjoy your tutorials. Hugs from Meg, Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
These are the cutest things!! They look amazing. The antique looking one with the chain is really special. But can we just talk about that Brad? LOL Hilarious.
These are adorable! Love them. And handy too, if you write really small. I’m thinking you could use an embossing folder with a very fine pattern to create pretty covers
I love the comment about “I’d have to get up”. I completely understand and I’m just a kinda “just make it work kinda artist.” Lol. I think that’s why I just moved everything around in my craft room so that I can reach everything without getting up. I love this little book. I remember getting something similar when I was a child. I sure wish I still had it. 🤟🏼🤍
Hey dear, love to watch your imagination 💭 going well beyond us, mere mortals. All is adorable. I was trying to guess how you’d make a mini pencil… but no, a gold metal gel pen! ☝🏼 Nothing less!
I'm so impressed and inspired. Cause I've been looking for sterling silver chatelaine to make my writing experience more sturdy. I would love to see this project on a bigger scale. I love it
This is the absolute cutest little notebook I've EVER SEEN!!! I might be able to actually create one of these tiny little journals; since I can't seem to get a "regular sized Journal" done! LOL! I love this! I'd wear it as a necklace, Use it as a Dangle or in a tassel... It's SOOO cute!!!
Absolutely adorable! And I love projects that use up existing supplies and make cute gifts to boot! (I use embossing powder to change the color of my brads and hardware on the fly!)
Hello Nik, yep I'm 2 days behind again, that's my life these days, always behind. How are you doing young lady? I pray that you are ok. If anyone can replicate something, it'd be you. I actually have that little quilting square thingy, LoL. I got mine at Hobby Lobby for the purpose of cutting 4 inch squares to turn into fabric flower pieces. Hope that made sense. Anyway, always have you in my prayers. Take care young lady and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas P.S. thanks for the freebies you share on Flickr, they are always so nice 👍👍👍🙂
So cute! I’ve got some fancy hinges which I bought ages ago, but then I didn’t know what to do with them. I might see if I can do something similar but with the hinges on the outside… although there might not be any room for pages inside haha.
If you really wanted to emulate the embossed metal. You could also get metallic silver “Duct” tape (to tape duct seams) or metallic copper guitar tape both can be embossed and have super strong adhesive.
Wasn’t it a Bible back in the day when Chatelaines were used. I know many were attached to Royal & Noble Women in Tudor/Stuart times according to the Portraits. Thanks for showing us how to make these. Take Care!! 😊
For perforations, you could grab a tracing wheel from your sewing box,. Also, some paper cutters use rotary blades, so if you have one, you could load up a perforating blade.
How fun! I just love it when you teach us how to make little items like this! You are so clever, too - I would never have thought of using brass tubing. Thanks, Nik! As an afterthought, maybe book cloth for a cloth hinge?
Fabulous, as usual! I like them both better than the original! I bought myself some shrink tubing years ago after watching an electrician us it on our wiring. I found it very handy for repairing a brush that had accidentally gotten the paint chipped off by using a plastic water container that had brush holder holes. The stress of taking the brush in and out of the holes popped the wonderful paint and left me with bare wood. I have slathered them with clear nail polish, but I used shrink tubing on another, and it has held up for years. Plus I could write on the white tubing so I know which brush it is.
It was nice to watch you build something. It floats my 🐐. It’s certainly incredible to see you engineer and build something so quickly. You have inventor’s hands. One thing I would adjust is the length of the pen. I’d retract the pen a bit so the ink doesn’t stain a shirt. I’m too tired to type anymore. Good night sweet prince.
Love this. Your imagination blows me away. I'd try some alcohol ink (even a sharpie marker) to change the color of the pendant if it really bugs you. It would be cool to use an embossing folder on some metal tape that might be fun as well. Great project.
I don't know why I watch these videos of yours because I will never do anything like that. So many supplies and tools! So tiny! But fascinating, so fascinating. And very cute!
That was a crazy amount of work for such a tiny book, but SO worth it. It is adorable.
If you were to wear it as a necklace, when you take the pencil out and open it, the pretty side would still be facing out ward and you would be able to write on it correctly without twisting the chain. At least that’s how it looks to me.
You might be right...or write! Lol I'll have to string it on a cord and put it on, maybe it will make more sense then. =)
Was just coming to comment the same thing. I believe you're right!
Too flippin' cute!🤩! I adore the "gothic" one with the little chain. Super fantabulous! Tyfs.💗💗💗
Nobody but YOU would think to do this!!! If my Daddy met you, he'd wish you were his daughter!!! So clever!! Haha! I'm pretty good with stuff like this, but you are the Queen!! Super cool!!! Austin,TX USA
You never cease to amaze me!
You truly inspire me to look at objects and say, "Yep, I'm gonna make one!" I've loved your videos for years.
These are just great! I love making "littles", and I could actually see this going into a bigger journal.

Thanks, Melody! Yes, I have some paint markers around here and gold nail polish, too. Somewhere... Lol

Love this idea! A tracing wheel is a great way to perforate your paper, too, without having to drag out your machine.
So stinkin’ cute! I love it!

You are the best fiddly-fiddler on YT 👋🏼 💫💞✨💝💖

Amazing as usual when it comes to a Nik the Booksmith project!

Very clever, Nik! Cute idea for a teacher gift…at least I would have loved it as a gift when I was teaching!
Absolutely ADORE this charm! You're SO TALENTED! 😍
Wow! I agree with everyone else. So cute! Love to watch you make stuff. Thanks for the mini- mental vacation.
Such a sweet little journal!! You are super creative and talented!! TYFS 😊👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
To make perforated paper you could also use a Drtiz sewing tracing wheel.
Nice. I particularly love the ‘antique’ looking one
Awesome! I love all things miniature. Maybe some gold rub and buff for the bale?
Oh my gosh ... this is so amazing and the little book is so cute. Thank you for sharing this.♥
Nik, you make the coolest things! Adorable! 😍
I'm so impressed and inspired. Cause I've been looking for sterling silver chatelaine to make my writing experience more sturdy. I would love to see this project on a bigger scale. I love it

How sweet and gorgeous are these! Thank you!
So adorable!! You’re so smart about all that!😁😍🤩
I AM OBSESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suweeeeet! And you can use any alcohol ink marker in gold to change the silver bails to gold. But these are sooo cool. 💕
LOVE it!!! So stinkin' cute-your ideas are awesome!!!
use some of your gilding paste and rub it on the hanger thing!! I bet it is enough to make it look more gold.
Cute project!!
Absolutely adorable! And I love projects that use up existing supplies and make cute gifts to boot! (I use embossing powder to change the color of my brads and hardware on the fly!)
You simply amaze me. You Rock❣️

This is soooo cool!! I use alcohol ink to change the colour of metal pieces that aren't the correct colour for my projects and aapply some lacquer.
The are great! I collect miniature books and these have the same vibe!!🥰🥰
Too adorable 🥰
Oh I love it! I think I’ll try this project using leather. Thank you for the inspiration 💖
So cute! I’ve got some fancy hinges which I bought ages ago, but then I didn’t know what to do with them. I might see if I can do something similar but with the hinges on the outside… although there might not be any room for pages inside haha.
Ingenious and beautiful! and thanks for the freebies! :)
Damp brush 😂 These are so adorable; thanks so much for this tutorial and especially for being “extra” on the pen; that’s genius! Love these ❤️

Very clever, perfect for mini’s, dollhouses, etc…

Squeeeeeee!!! Chatelaines!!! 'member Cindy Lauper, "She's so unusual." ? Nik The Booksmith: She's so EXTRA! LOVE this. And all-the-Brads. :-)
Ha! Indubitably! 😄
What a cute idea. One day I just might do it and I can always come back to watch like I do with your simple book video.
You really are a master booksmith of all sorts. I’m enjoying all your videos, old and new.
Adorable! Love this little Chatelaine notebook charm! TFS the inspiration!
Love this!
You are amazing!
Love this!!! Thank you for your inspiration! Love the insert of "Brad" too funny.
For perforations, you could grab a tracing wheel from your sewing box,. Also, some paper cutters use rotary blades, so if you have one, you could load up a perforating blade.
Love them and your content!
you are just amazing! love it
Brilliant!
So cute! Rub and Buff will change finding color or alcohol ink works on metal.
Love your projects! Hope you’re feeling great.
Awesome! I love it!
Absolutely amazing. Your ingenuity is just boundless.
you made a tiny pen!!!!! so cute. Love this project. Would make great gifts for a book club!!!
Thanks, Suzanne! Yes, I hadn't thought of that, you're right, they would make excellent book club gifts!
These are super cute, but make sure you’re wearing a top that matches the ink color 😮
Cool, I love it 🤩🤩🤩
These are adorable, Nik! You are very clever 🌷
Useful AND adorable! Thanks, Nik!
Really pretty! You could decorate the outside with 1mm quills before painting to create a pattern. Looks super.
Incredibly darling! :)
Sweet!!
How fun! I just love it when you teach us how to make little items like this! You are so clever, too - I would never have thought of using brass tubing. Thanks, Nik!

So cool 😎 Love this idea. Adorable. Thank you for showing us how you made this.
I love this tutorial and appreciate the freebies share! Thank you!
A Dritz tracing wheel would be good for piercing the sheets to make them removable. Cute project!
💜💜💜 WOW!
Oh my gosh...another thing I need to make!! You are brilliant Nik and thanks for always sharing that with us.
Love this. Your imagination blows me away. I'd try some alcohol ink (even a sharpie marker) to change the color of the pendant if it really bugs you. It would be cool to use an embossing folder on some metal tape that might be fun as well. Great project.
