A PEN WIZARD gave me a HANDMADE PEN (magical properties unknown)

- Here's a pretty cool type of pen, handmade by ANDY the PEN WIZARD. I really enjoyed trying this one out, and finding out the ways it was different and similar to some of the other pens I've used, particularly dip pens and fountain pens. As is often the case, a new art supply can be inspiring, but I also found myself being very inspired by the process this person went through in their design process, with their extensive experimentation and documentation.
If you want to discuss this pen and contact Andy, his username is "Dipper" on the Fountain Pen Network forums. Here is a thread where he and others are discussing this pen and ones like it: www.fountainpennetwork.com/fo...
Thanks to Colorverse for the Yeonwoong Sung Artist Series inks in this video and the Nebula Notebook!

“Long sleeve shirts are like pants but for the other half of your body”. Tremendous.
Genius peter, genius
Peter writes for the capt.obvious commercials. What a pearl of wisdom
The language of the gods.
the person who made this pen really is something else. I wish I had that level of dedication.
It looks so cool and versatile. The pictures peter drew looked like line and wash watercolor.
I too wish i have this level of dedication and focus 😭
The man basically did a master thesis on that pen, this is beyond impressive
i lauhed way too much at the 'pants for the other half of you body', might be the sleep deprivation
Let the pen wizard step forth. Andy, you have helped inspire and shown pen wizardry of the highest order.
Dear Wizard, if you are reading this, holly fudge, the is a good pen! You can easily sell those, I'm sure!
Cool to see the wizard's research and documentation.
I'm kindof guessing that was just for Peter.
I hope this Andy pen guru guy sees this video and all the positive comments and starts a channel of his own. I know I have my subscribe button pokey finger ready
@@maggs131 Yeah, I'd love to see what he has to say about different types of pens and inks too. He seems to fully deserve his title.
I am so glad you exist in my timeline, Peter.
what a cool pen! im really diggin the nib; ive never seen a pen like that before!
Peter, the K in CMYK refers to black which is needed in a pigment system to render tones within a hue. That pen nib looks heavy but is seems to work very well. Kinda reminds me of a Sailor Cross Nib in being able to write in many attitudes.
Crosby, Mills, Yash, and Koung
Ceonardo, Michelangelo, Yonatello and Kaphael
C'Artagnan, Mathos, Yaramis and Kortos
yes.. and to go a bit further.. in color theory if you mix Cyan Magenta and Yellow theoretically you get absolute black as it is with RGB mixed in equal parts you get white. But in the material world pigments /inks has inaccuracies and are translucent so we get a muddy dark grey color instead of black. So, K is added to this color model in order to fix these inaccuracies.
@@Azchk It's a logical conjecture but unfortunately no. There is a technical / practical reason behind this decision.
I have a bunch of the professional version of these pens. These are old school architect pens, they often have an adjustable "tine" gap with a screw that lets you adjust how much flow, so you can have them be very dry or very wet.
@peter - would you like one? I don't know how busy/overloaded you are with art stuff in your mailbox, but I have several of them, they're nice vintage tools and really fun to sketch with. I really don't need three. They're the classic K&E 1950's ruling pens (architects and cartographers used them for the same thing, hence me calling them architect pens) I'd be happy to send one in the mail to you along with a fun vintage fountain pen or something, no charge.
I actually own some of these. My grandfather went to school for “lining” (literal translation, don’t know what you call it in English). And now I have inherited two boxes of equipment from his time in college.
Me: “Huh, this is an unusually normal intro for Peter.”
Peter: “Fashion goggles!”
Me: “... I spoke too soon.”
8:54 Oh peter, Magic is just science we don't understand! XD
you get a beer glass, you get a whiskey glass, you get a shot glass, you get an ink glass
Those Goggles are phenomenal.
I didn’t think you guys at the Bureau would be into this kind of content.
Uh oh
Its just for Mardi Gras. They could use some colors, green, purple, gold
that first drawing at 13:48 looks exactly like art from Ghibli's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind! very cool. very awesome to look at.
These 18 minutes just flew by. With all this background information and the amazing results, I just want to learn more about this pen and the wizard that created it.
I'd like to hope this wonderful presentation video opens a thousand doors of opportunity for this innovative pen wizard. Anyone that pours their passion so generously into something like this deserves nothing but the best fortune. Nice job Andy 😃👍on a side note to Andy if he sees this comment, it would be cool if you started your own channel with pen demos and your awesome artwork. I have my subscribe button pokey finger ready
You too!? I was in a similar position- however I was cursed by a pen warlock.
That is impressive, such thorough experimentation. You can tell Andy loves doing this
This guy deserves massive respect for his dedication❤
The world might be on fire but here's our Peter, calming as ever ❤
I neeeeeed that pen, line width variation is my shiiiiiiit
What I find most intriguing is there are forums dedicated to fountain pens.
Cool pen. Looks like it's pretty hefty!
Ten minutes into the vid; yeah, great pen, but the documentation blew me away! Fantastic!
Second edit, you actually found a Peterproof nib...😄
This pen is very, very cool. If he sells these I'd definitely consider getting one, and I love all the drawings and experimenting he did. Truly impressive and inspiring!
that guy that sent the pen is an amazing artist
Peter lookin mighty fine today.
the amount of love he put onto that pen is incredible
Peter haven't been here in over a month and what a nice video to return to
This video gave me so much artistic energy! His tests and notes were so interesting and inspiring and watching you crank out several drawings at the end and test the pen along the way just really got my creativity going and my hands yearning to create! Excellent video, Peter. Excellent.
Thanks, Peter; now you are back to the Peter Draws that I like. Trying, reviewing and drawing with various pens (and inks). Love your creations - keep'em coming.
That is an amazing amount of dedication. A true wizard!
You're a Pen Wizard Andy!
Oh c'mon..
@@rob16248 xD
Wow. All the colours and drawings and writings Andy did are stunning!
I love this video, and I love the lighting and visuals that you have going on here. The fresh and bright look on its own manages to quell my anxiety.
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black. K stands for black because it’s a specific type known as Kodak. Those are the four base color tones used in printing, varying from bags to all kinds of different printed products
DSP, Factorio, and Satisfactory are all exactly the type of games I love to play to unwind from a long day. Glad you’re enjoying them!
Thank you so much for your content! It is absolutely astonishing! I used to draw a lot when I was young but sort of gave it up due to the feeling of lack of capability. Your content has inspired me to pick up the pen and paper again and I’m actually beginning to think that it’s worth continuing. Once again, thank you so much, you have no idea how much you’ve helped!
the line quality with that pen adds a ton of depth and fun... i know you want to control the width of the lines... but sometimes going with the flow is fun too.
This is the ideal hair length for you. Lookin like a real stud. Work it!
The amount Peter uses the word "happy", genuinely makes me happier.
That's amazing I love how he analyzed every aspect of the pen and really put his time and effort in it just to give you the ultimate drawing experience. Lovely
peters videos, old and new, always find me at the best time. presently, i’m sitting in the dark eating salad and chicken out of a bag. thanks peter
Alex, you are amazing dude! 6:56 is my fav. The colors make a usually soft scene sharp.
aye keep it up bro I enjoy your drawing style a lot
Video Idea: Do a pen review on pens from your nearest dollar store or something like Aliexpress\Wish. Keep up the great videos Peter!
Omg... I think I’ll love this pen!!! Keen to purchase it!!! Thanks for the review... love that the handle can be changed to a thicker or thinner hold!!!
You put up the hanger❤️❤️❤️
These new camera angles make this very enjoyable to watch
what happens when peter uploads:
blast of inspiration
caaaaalllmmm
inner peace
(also, how do you deal with not having any motivation? I've been struggling with that lately...)
Put hot sauce on everything.
Just do it. Ignor your feelings. Force yourself...
@lunises
💯
Do something, anything. Doesn't have to be related to your project, just get something started. Your brain will do the rest.
Try and do something new. Then you don't have the stress of making it perfect or anything
@@austinharriman1227 thanks!! i have really been struggling to get myself to draw recently, but this feedback will hopefully get myself back into making art!
Great combo his pen and your style. He picked a great one.
I’ve been watching pen and ink videos all day. Then you gave us this. I can sleep well now.
Tomorrow I will actually do something.
Awesome tool! 😍😍😍 Congratulations, Andy, Creator! 👏👏👏👏👏
PS. I Like Dreaming Dogs ruling pens a lot, (which are mentioned in Andy’s comment on FPN forum) but the tool for Peter is stunning!
i love the look of this pen, it would totally be my choice if i were to get a dip pen. this man is going to go places.
Beautiful drawings with this pen! It seems to change your style!
Love the Drawings Peter! Reminded me of Kurt Vonneguts art :)
Great video! Great pen! Great goggles! All the wizardry I needed for a good day. Thanks for sharing
Wow, where to begin... Thank you, Peter and Andy.
According to the forums, Dipper himself said that his pens are not for sale. However, he has shared plenty about how he makes his pens: what measurements he uses, materials, time, etc. I would love to have this pen that Peter was given, and hopefully I could find or make some sort of replica in the future.
Still not sure why they don’t call long sleeve T-shirts “M-shirts” 🤷🏻♂️
It'd be quite funny if the neckline of the long sleeve t-shirt resembled an "M".
I am so impressed by this pen (and its research)
hi Peter! I love all your art work!
Thanks for sharing this big ticket item is nice to see, dippers idea
Made,into so many pens,
Whaterver,small big,tickets
I’m totally blown away 🤯 I need one of his pens in my life...I think having one will complete me in some way 🙏🏼
Dip pen art is so cool its almost like the lines are alive.
That’s an amazing gift. Very impressive.
That's probably one of the coolest looking pens I've ever laid my little ol' eyes on
That speech about long sleeved shirts was inspiring
The pen wizard kicks ass
Channels i really like i will watch the same video multiple times. This is one of those channels
What an interestingly shaped nib! I'd love to try something like that!
1. What a cool pen. Wish I could buy one.
2. Best thing about ruling pens is using them along a ruler/straight edge or in a compass. Precision.
the way in which peter popped of these goggles made me laugh out loud, it was hilarious xD
Hmm this reminds me I have some old wooden pens somewhere I had forgotten about them til this clip perhaps I should look for them thanks Peter
Love the pen content. Will you be doing a house tour soon?
I think it would be fun if you made a guess the character video where you draw famus people in your style and then we try to guess who it is (= love ur videos Peter!
why did I literally only need to watch about 30 seconds for this to make my day?
Petedraws + a cup of coffee = a good day every time.
🤖agreed
You can tell Andy truly enjoys what he does.
What’s that lovely olive-green colored ink? Fascinating video!
Something to keep in mind for my growing pen addiction
That is so dope. I cant even come up with words that do this person justice for how amazing this is. Also, it would be dope to be able to buy pens that came with such instruction and examples. V cool.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but, this video is particularly cute to me. Thank you for making and uploading it!
I’m happy there is a hanger in the background.
what a gorgeous pen. have you ever tried the Persian calligraphy dip pen made with reed and bamboo?
Peter and the pen wizard make drawing look so fun. I draw even though i have zero skill
Can you do an extra long drawing with this pen it looks so satisfying
That is so cool. I like the wizard's drawings
That pen looks soooooo addicting!
Same I just switched to long sleeved night shirts for sleeping and feel like they are genius for cold weather.
I really like that pen. I don't know how often you had to dip it but it looks like it held a good amount, I don't see any dripping of ink either. Easy to change colors and use with a variety of medias. I would buy that pen. Best thing is it makes the the hand draw beautiful drawings. I hope if i own a pen like that, that it would draw at my command. My pen troops have morale problems and some have even gone AWOL. I would love to add this pen to the brigade. i would like to speak with his commander if it pleases you Sir Peter D.
Nevermind Sir, I see you already have the website under the description, Thank you for your thorough presentation.
Really impressive, promising pen! Godspeed the wizard
Besides making an awesome pen, he’s a true artist
This is awesome!
Excellent!
Awesome 💯
The Pen Wizard has skilz! 🔥 Very inspiring!
Peter is actually drinking ink
What a beautiful gift
Now i wanna make my own pen too. It looks so cool
Wow, wow, wow! Well color me impressed.
