    I have a little 4 gallon pancake compressor. It stopped producing air. I checked the drain plug, all threaded connections, oil level, and relief valve. Everything seemed to be working fine. I unscrewed the air filter and tried to blow through it. Couldn't. With the air filter removed, I turned the compressor back on and it aired up the tank and cut-off just like it should. Air filter was clogged. I unclogged it using the same air I had just put in the tank, using a blow gun. Everything is back to working fine again. $0.00 spent.

    Informative video.
    I have the same one that the head gasket failed shortly after purchase.
    I made a gasket for it and that has failed 10 years later.
    Still has good compression so time for another homemade gasket.

    I like your "tool" kit. :-) I know a way to get that head to drop on straight so you don't smear your gasket stuff. Get 2 long bolts with the same thread as the head bolts. Cut off the heads & cut a screwdriver slot (or just use some all thread). Screw them in loosely on diagonal corners, THEN put the head on. Put a head bolt en each of the other holes and run them in finger tight. Take out your guide bolts and put the rest of the head bolts in. No sliding around, finish as usual.

    It is the same problem as mine compressor...I think also the motor is the same (cylinder, valves etc.) I know why the air compressor doesn't have air filter element on it....the inlet air valve stays open and the compressed air escapes through the filter by blowing it up like mine compressor too. Great job thank you it will be really helpful for me

    Have the same compressor mounted upside down under a truck deck and it failed rather quickly.. guessing the reeds are full of dirt.
    Might have to pull it apart and rearrange how it is assembled because just flipping it up wouldnt really work.

    Ty for this video post
    I bought a Goodyear 3 gal. And I used Teflon tape on all the connections, brand new out of the box, and it will not build pressure.
    I thought Goodyear and new, so I had destroyed the box and tossed the receipt thinking 🤔🧐 no way would I need it....learned a valuable lesson to keep the boxes and paperwork and see how it does.
    Well I should say it worked fine for about an hr and then died. So, it's one of those, I'll get to it later projects. But thank you just to anyone who goes to Walmart and buys a Goodyear 3 gal compressor, keep everything for like a week before tossing the box. Brand new and broke after an hour of use...that's what this world is all about now. Probably built by someone who never finished highschool and thinks the super bowl is a rice dish and Panda Express😂...sigh. anyway thanks.

    I don't understand, was the only problem a bad gasket? The reed valve was okay?
    It would have been helpful to know the brand and size of the compressor, in the description.
    It looks to have only one reed valve if that is correct.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 Před 2 lety

      mine is a Parkside PKO 270 A3 compressor sold by Lidl, and looked identical to this one.
      in my case the outlet reed valve fractured into 3 parts, and only pumped up to 60 psi as a result.
      ordered replacements available at eBay and Amazon, apparently standard sizing for the V shaped outlet valve. when it comes in, I'll see if that's the case.
      The outlet valve sees the most stress from the pressure and heat so I'll have a lot of spares if it happens again.

    • @Accumulator1
      @Accumulator1 Před 2 lety

      @@dubmob151 Since I last posted, I took the top off the cylinder and found two reed valves, one was broken into two pieces. I was getting only about 35psi max. They are just metal rectangles of thin tin. I cut an identical size out of a piece of metal banding strap. It was thicker than the original reed so I sanded the surface done a bunch to thin it. Then fine polished to remove any scratches. It was still thicker but I installed it and now the compressor works perfect and holds completely, no bleed back.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 Před 2 lety

      @@Accumulator1 I was thinking the v shaped valve on mine might have been able to work if I could secure it with something like Kapton tape to hold it in place, but since they were about $1.25 ea for the 5 pack, I figured I may as well try to get something made for it. Remains to be seen if it is actually the correct part though.. 😉

    My craftsman 33 gallon oilless started acting up. When I start using my spray gun at will be at a good pressure but noticed while my hand is in the trigger the pressure goes down. I release the trigger and press it again and it does the same thing. So basically it builds pressure but it somehow doesn’t hold the pressure to the gun unless I release the trigger

    Hey Sandy I have the one with the flat 2 rectangle reeds one of the reeds had a sizable piece of trash under it ? Could that be why air was coming out of the oil filler cap????? The rings look very good and the cylinder wall you could still see honing marks very well. The metal gasket was in good shape too? I was trying to see why was my air was just blowing full blast out of that hole in my oil filler cap????

    • @ceeweedsl

    My compressor starts working and builds pressure up to 150psi but sometimes during work it will not start and won't keep tank charged. Sometimes it turns on only for a few seconds then goes quiet. Sometimes I hears something that it wants to start like air going somewhere through the pipe for about 2 second and then quiets and stays like that. Fails to keep up pressure in tank when I use it. Pressure goes low as 50psi but compressor doesn't start. Then I had to open drain valve to release remaining air pressure in the tank. Disconnect it from AC power for few minutes and it starts working again build up to 150psi again. I don't hear any air leaks. What could be wrong?
