  • If you happen to know how to use Reaper, Ableton or FLStudio, then I implore you to use those to make your charts instead of Trombone Charter, those are better tuned DAWs.
This is a meh tutorial, It isn't good, nor is it bad. I even make a few mistakes that I happen to be oblivious to in the video, the sound is hella scuffed too (50% vol recc.) If you don't have any other options and are willing to develop your music theory, then this is (probably) the video for you. Charter isn't a very good DAW to begin with, as it is lacking in a lot of features, it doesn't support BPM changes, (and it's the last DAW listed in the Modding Guide) but it's the most visually similar looking program to the game and overall does its job as intended, creating Custom Charts.
P.S The video does have subtitles if I happen to sound a bit too quiet.
P.P.S if you're having problems opening Charter at the start, it may have to do with your Graphics preference in your settings.
To solve this: Open Settings } System } Display } Multiple displays } Graphics settings } Browse for 'trombonecharter_win##.exe' } Options } Choose "High Performance" or the option has your GPU

Can you import midi to the chart?

Been thinking about this game, no idea what to go for, though...Switch because I just prefer to play my games elsewhere...but Steam would be easier for modding in custom songs. (my Switch is moddable, though, but sometimes converting mods is a nightmare depending on the game)
Good to know there's an easy software for me to mess with for creating a custom song.

Thank you for the good video! Even if you have ffmpeg, you cannot load the wav file and even if you put the wav file directly into the folder, you cannot be loaded. Do you know how to solve it? (Please understand if the sentence is weird because I used a translator.)

      Hello~!
Sorry for the late reply, much apologies!
If you do have ffmpeg: Ensure that in "On chart load" you have the, "Convert song.ogg if song.wav is missing" checkbox enabled.
If you don't have ffmpeg and are manually putting in a .wav file, you will need to reload the tmb by opening it again, make sure you have the "try to load song.wav file" checkbox enabled.
Friendly reminder that the following files need to be named 'song' to work in the game and in Charter properly.
      this includes:
      'song.tmb'
      'song.ogg'
      'song.wav'
If you happen to have any other concerns, you can join the discord discord.gg/KVzKRsbetJ where we can better support your charting endeavors.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what does FFmpeg do and why do you need it?

    • @Beta_Sierra
      @Beta_Sierra  Před 10 měsíci +2

      No worries!
FFmpeg is a software suite that handles multimedia data, capable of converting audio and video formats. Applications like OBS or Charter are compatible with it.
While FFmpeg isn't essential for the entire process, having it streamlines the charting process, especially when you're working on multiple charts.
If you have FFmpeg installed, Charter will utilize it to create a .wav file from the ogg file, allowing you to listen to the song as you chart.
Conversely, if you don't have FFmpeg installed or if it's not functioning correctly, you can opt to convert and export the ogg file into a wav file, and then place this file in the song folder you're working on.
Edit: You may use Audacity or any other DAW to convert and export audio files

@@Beta_SierraThanks! I’ll try to convert the .ogg file to a .wav and see if that fixes my problem with the backing track!
