- The New 2019/2020 Motorola Razr Disassembly Teardown Repair Video. This is not an easy repair at all and I would probably even go as far as saying not repairable at all by most people.

Wow. The amount of engineering that went into this design is unbelievable.
Galaxy Fold has better engineering.
And that is part of why it's so expensive. Making stuff like this isn't as simple as so many seem to expect
I was shocked when i heard "44 screws" when he actually said "Four T4 screws" quickly lol
Haha, ya I need to focus a bit on speaking a bit slower :)
Just left exactly same comment above :-D
Okay, at 4:17 there another one about "eighty-four screws"
U were screwed!
4 Torx Screws.
A tecnician you can trust , 3d modeling on this phone must release as documentary , congrats Motorola design team
One of the most complex looking phone tear downs. everything is so compact
Yup, definitely not an easy phone to make repairs on.
Thanks for the detailed video with clear explanations! Decent quality, all the required information, everything is easy to see.
You're welcome, thank you
Surely an iconic mobile. A great video and well done Motorola!
Yea its a great phone, and thanks :)
Just wow, I respect this phone
well, at first i was complained a lot for that small battery, but now that i saw that crazy amount of engineering that they put on there, im surprised that they manage to put a battery on that phone
Thats why we always need evidence and proof before judging
Thank you, my friend, I had to change the rear screen, it broke. Good contribution to technical service greetings from Colombia
You're welcome
Amazing job! 🥇
Thanks!
I am 100% sure that if Steve Jobs was alive now, he would have applauded the amount of engineering on this device !
Incredible you are a master of disassembly, the moto razr is very hard!!!
Thank you, yea it was one of the more difficult disassembly I've done
Amazing. The screen is really thin and soft.
Neat and detailed teardown
Thanks!
Love it. Moto is the best. Thank you for making this video, best teardown.
Your welcome, thank you :)
*laughs in Lenovo*
@@mikeynjs94 Laughs knowing Moto is owned by Lenovo
I just changed the main display and without your video it would have gone bad. Thanks a lot!👍👍👍
You're welcome!
Amazing skills!
Thank you!
Great video bro...
Thanks!
Imagine the job to replace any part of this, insane
Yea, would be a tedious job
You are amazing!!!
Complicated stuff. Amazing feat of engineering. Hats off to motorolla.
Better than an ifixit tear down for sure
You should have 1m subs at least
Stfu he is just a copy of jerryregeverything
@@arfathariri6293 so every guy who does a teardown even if he doesn't know jerryrig
is a copy? how old are? did your skull got damaged from something or?
damn man lol
This phone is soo complicated.. Yet surprisingly easy to be repaired
You're the best man!
Thanks! :)
Nice video 😊
Thank you 😀
Amazing teardown, thanks
Thank you, and you're welcome
nice job
Thanks
Today is March 6 2023. I got my Motorola RAZR 2019...in March of 2020..I've used it every day..no issues what so ever with the screen..or any issues period...I have to say that I treat the phone like I would my watch...or electronic device.. The battery is draining still as it did no issues with memory... the camera has taken some awesome sunsets..so all in all I still love the phone.. so anyone who is considering purchasing one if they are still available.. go for it 👍👌
👍
Definitely gonna need this video soon.
Mine is one month past warranty and they want over $1,000 to replace the folding screen.
Oh wow that's, you can get a new phone with that price lol.
Hi friend
excellent job
Would you help me with cleaning the hinges and the internal part as it has dust inside I guess and squeaks a bit
Thank you for this video.
No problem, you would probably have to take the entire phone apart to take apart the hinges. I don't think it would be worth it, your best bet would be to send it in to motorola for service for them to either replace and fix the issue for you.
Now I know what my $1500 went toward. Wow!
Congrats! I envy you.
Bought this phone directly from Motorola and I love it! ditched my iPhone for this (iphone was old anyways 6 plus)
Yea I like it a lot as well
dont you mean directly from Lenovo??
@@mikeynjs94 technically Motorola is its own company under Lenovo but ya you can go by both but it's sold on Motorola.com not lenovo.com
nice alien engineering motorola
Well that's one hell of a job. Nice video bro
Thank you, appreciate it!
That's why they had to deal with a small battery capacity
Yup, They could have made the phone a bit longer to add a larger battery but it would probably have not been a good proportion with the length vs width.
@@PBKreviews yes, that's it. They tried to keep the original Razr proportions as much as possible
good luck putting it back together
Yep its a difficult process but can be done if you're experienced. I sped up the re-assembly at the end to not waste too much time but you can see I show its put back together and works. But definitely most people would have a hard time with this phone for any repairs
“On the top you’ve got 9T5 screws ” got me like - Duh! I’m just gonna give up disassembling lol! 😅
Haha
Awww that small hidden svastika on battery :D
Where is the sensor that says the phone is closed? Mine reads it closed when it's only 3/4 of the way closed and back open when it's fully closed. My first one did that but it was under warranty so I got a different one for free. The one is not under warranty so I'm stuck with no outside display now and I have to make sure to manually turn the screen off with the power button or it stays on while in my pocket because the sensor is telling the phone it's open.. when. It's really closed..
Nicely done, pbk. Thought it was you haha
Haha thanks! How you been?
@@PBKreviews Good bro! Nice to see you're still kickin ass.
I certainly hope he video'd the teardown so he knows how it all goes back together! ;)
This is literally the teardown video...
Would you like motorola v14w for disassembly ?
This is almost Apple level of compact engineering.
Almost? I think it surpased that.
Apple is trash.
@@retroke6560 yeah no, apple Made the 11 pro the smallest board on a Flagship phone ever.
this is most smooth teardown comparing to JRE
eh i mean safe teardown
Thank you
Uno de los mas difíciles de desamoblar que he visto.... bueno pues a ver que tal sale
Yup! :)
Hello sir,
I need it's display folder provided
My jaw dropped when he said "next - you have fourty-four screws you need to remove on the front".... Double-checked - and it's "four T4 screws" :-D
What an incredible piece of design and engineering. That could never have come about by chance. And so the human body, an even more incredible design by our great creator and designer God!
Hi Q : Technically can the front screen only ( if you have one extra ) be replaced without any other extra disassembling ,just like you did in the video section ,heat up remove , watch the connectors and put it back ?
Yeah, you don't need to take apart anything else which isn't obstructing the part you're replacing. But also there is a small chance of shorting if the battery is still connecting if you use metal tools etc.
After re-assembly, did the middle part of the screen at the hinge bent upwards (thus the glare) or is it out of the box?
No it still sits down flush but is not as crease-less as it was out of the box. Motorola even states its normal to see bumps and curves and I started seeing some curves in the screen after closing and opening during the day. Doesn't look as bad in person as it does on video with all the lighting but yep. I just like how solid the body feels, very premium.
@@PBKreviews okay gotchu, thanks for replying mate! ^_^
@@rishabhpurohit2663 your welcome :)
My external screen is cracked and I can't find a replacement one for the life of me. I'm sure I could change it but no parts available. My inside screen is still flawless after 6 months heavy use. I had a flashlight in my back pocket and sat down and the bezel must have pushed on the screen just right. 1 crack in the corner. It still works fine.
Ya, don't think there are any available on the market yet. If you wanted it changed, your only option seems to be to send it in to motorola to have them replace the screen.
@@PBKreviews thanks for reply, motorola wants 400 dollars to replace it. And it's just the cover not the actual screen or digitizer. Even if it is all one piece that is double what I think it should be. I have insurance but always have fixed phones myself. I will keep my fingers crossed for replacement parts to show up online or maybe buy a broken phone with a good outside screen for spare parts.
@@tylerjackson4168 ya that's way too much.
I'm in the same situation now. Did you finally get yours fixed? This thread is from 6 months ago and I still can't find the external screen replacement parts anywhere 😭
@@ugoffsucks ....I used my insurance (200 deductible) to get a replacement. I told them I couldn't find mine so I still have it if parts become available. I haven't checked in a few weeks. I even called Motorola and they won't sell parts.
That looks exhausting.
Who supplied and manufactured that flexible OLED panel?
That one is the gist and hopefully you're able to find out with Device Info HW app or through those serial numbers.
Thanks.
I'll try n see if I can find out
the manufacture of the OLED panel is BOE. they also supplied the panels for the Huawei Mate X

Where can I buy a replacement screen I've looked everywhere

Hi, not sure as far as software issues go on this model phone. You may need to look into reflashing the original firmware but you would need to google tutorials on how to do it. Or you can contact motorola and send it in for repair.
Why thwy have additional battery maybe one wasnt enough and so wow thin battery.

The screen is difective which peels in just 2 months of use with air bubbles forming between the screen layers and becomes non responsive, don’t buy
That sucks, hopefully they fixed that issue on the 2nd generation model they made.
@@PBKreviews No, they haven't fixed anything. It's the 2nd generation model which I have, the moto RAZR 5g and they changed the design in which the inner screen slides down into the bottom frame of the mobile while the outer screen doesn't. Wish it wasn’t made in india. would have bought two. made in india is worse than made in China. Already it was sad that iphone was made in China.
Can anyone confirm if any other country is manufacturing moto razr apart from india?
i think it's mostly made in china, largely designed by the lenovo team, labelled made in india so that it will have less impact of trump's tariffs
Lol it doesn't matter if it's made in India or China I have iPhone 8 made in India model and its working absolutely great I'm using to write this comment
Lemme guess you're from Pakistan.
Guys didn’t mean to offend Indians at all. Was expecting it to be Made in USA.
Motorola was stupid because they left out the user replaceable battery. The back cover is 90% capable only the 10% corporate greed and fingerprint sensor glues together the bottom half.
Just imagine a hot swappable battery. All the batteries with built in wireless charging coil.
Yea who knows but from the looks of it, I don't think a removable battery well every come to see the light again. But who knows, they are going back to flip phones so maybe one day :)
What a piece of garbage, they could not even use a linear actuator for the vibrator motor... Still what seems to be a rotating mass. Trashy! If I'm wrong then disregard my comment but on a device like this in 2020, having a rotating mass vibration motor is just cheap and nasty.
I see where your coming from, I have noticed a lot of the high end devices still use the rotating mass vibration motors. Not sure what the reasoning behind it is, but probably a good reason. I highly doubt it would be a cost issue, maybe the space orientation but then again I'm sure they could organize it in a way to work with the whole design. Maybe if a Moto engineer reads this post they can shine some light onto it for us :)
But where is the sim card?
uses Esim not a physical sim card
The two battery's are ONLY 1168 mAh and 1185 mAh, that is a lot lower then a normal smartphone, no thank you will stick with a normal Smartphone that has a 3.350 + mAh Battery, great video BTW.
Thank you :), ya battery life isn't the best but considering the fact it has turbo charge feature it charges quickly so it isn't too bad. But ya my main daily phone with the attachable back battery has a total of 6220 mAh battery life and I love the fact I don't need to charge it for 2 days :)
@@PBKreviews Yeah, i miss the days you could easily remove your battery, but now they make everything so it will not work long anymore, and can almost not be repaired anymore, by a handy guy with a solder station, 20+ years ago they made stuff to last you 20+ years, now you must be happy if your TV will survive 10 years.
@@AmigaWolf Yup true.
