He died on sunday
Jesus, this would bring a tear to your eye when you remember him on a rugby field.
Totally breaks my heart - we salute his family who stood by him every single day until the very end. The pain and suffering is unthinkable - RIP Joost safe in the arms of our Heavenly Father
Celeste Breytenbach Amen, beautifully said.
Rest in peace big guy
JOOST!!! Tearing up!!! God bless him!
Simply the best player I have ever seen play the game .......and now he is playing his greatest game ever . My Aunt had MND , so keep going Joost .......
God bless this legend of the sport. May these last days for him be as wonderful as ever.
It's so sad to see him like this
definatly the most talented scrum half ever to play the game. I remember every time watching him wheh he got the ball you always thought he could make something happen, whether it was wiping a lightening pass or sniping from the base of a ruck, looked always a pest to defend against, has great strength and in broken play he could pop up from anywhere and score a try.
it's heartbreaking to see what MND has done to him, but it is also inspiring that he's not giving up and he's doing his best in life with what he can.
True legend Joost!!
As a Welshman, he was always one of my favorite players. I was devastated to see him like this 😢
I couldn't watch the whole of this. Tears welled up in my eyes. A great competitor on the field reduce to this by a cruel, cruel disease. Absolutely heartbreaking. He was one of the greatest scrum-halves of the game - a complete 9 - and an inspiration to South Africa and those who remember him. Your feats will never be forgotten, regardless of the Motor Neurone's progress. I wish you all the best and will always remember you during your prime.
A true rugby legend. He is one of the best ever on the field. Thoroughly enjoyed watching him play.
An amazing Rugby player and an even more amazing human being . RIP Joost 🏉
What am amazing guy. A true south Africa hero through and through. God bless him
Certainly the greatest scrum half ever and one of the greatest players of all time. He faced his illness with the same courage he has on the pitch. Simply, a wonderful, wonderful player.
There has never been so much life in the game of rugby than when Joost had the ball.
