    Solid review! I have the same pull-up bar and have been using it for about a month. It's held up well! My only issue is that there isn't a standard, shoulder-width grip. It seems like there should be foam between the neutral and wide grips. I put some grippy tape of my own there.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I have no idea why they left it off. I'm actually testing the Jayflex Crossgrips right now and so far so good. Expensive, but they don't run against the edges of my doorframe anymore.

    • @dealzright
      @dealzright Před 2 lety

      I did the same thing. Took a lot of tape, but now I'm good. They need to have the foam right straight across.

    I used to have the old version and they did have the foam at the standard grip. Crazy that they took it off.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah not sure why. I wish they left it. The Elite just covers the entire thing with foam grip.

    Hey GameBoy, I have brain teaser for you.... How do you perform t bar pull-ups with an at home pull-up bar? With and without the actual t bar. I want to isolate those wing-lats by locking up my arms in a 90 degree angle for the entire pull-up rotation.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 3 lety +1

      Not sure there. I know of the t bar row but pull-up...not sure how that would work as I don't train that or ever recommend it.

  • @0FruitPastel0
    @0FruitPastel0 Před 2 lety

    Hey, I also have a wall close to my doorframe on one side, which is even closer than yours. If you still have the bar, do you know the distance between the end of the grip (i would have to have it flush with the wall) to the outside of the opposite vertical strut, which goes through the door? Like in your situation, I would have to have the bar to one side of the door, I'm just trying to find out if it will fit before buying! Many thanks

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately I no longer have this bar. I actually went to the Elite version, then to Crossgrips by Jayflex. I am currently waiting on the Iron Master bench that has a pull-up bar attachment to it as I am trying to get off doorframes.

  • @MrEndocytosis
    @MrEndocytosis Před 3 lety

    Does this make your frame moulding creak? It makes me kind of nervous that its going to break it one day.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 3 lety

      I've used mine for a while in multiple apartments and now in a house that I rent and the problem is never the integrity of the frame, it is always the bars pushing into the frame causing paint to peal off and small small indentations. This did happen to the Pro version of this product but it was my fault as the back padding moved on me a bit exposing the metal to the frame.
      I am testing the Crossgrips right now and I LOVE them. Expensive, but they only go on the top of your door so they don't rest on the sides and push into it. They feel very sturdy and my 30 day review will come soon!

    Do you have too have weights or can you sill get the same results without using weights around your waist?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 2 lety +1

      Are you referring to pull-ups for weights around your weights? You don't have to use them, it can just help to shorten a workout so that you aren't doing a ton of reps to get to failure and produce enough tension on the muscles.

  • @Niborino9409
    @Niborino9409 Před 3 lety

    Oh yeah, 6 months on review even? Perfect! 💪
    So would a round doorframe stopper be better? Some people use rags or thick socks to protect the wall and doorframe.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 3 lety +1

      It might be a good idea. I found because mine didn't fit on the frame itself the inside bar started rubbing on it removing some paint. Not bad yet but I've moved over to the Crossgrips which have been outstanding in the first 30 days. Feel free to check out the review I just made of them.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for the tip. I looked at the pull-up bar but one major point I don't like is that it does not come out away from the door. This could lead to your head or face hitting it which would be rather painful.

  • @johnd1216
    @johnd1216 Před 2 lety +1

    Will this work for a tall person, over six feet?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 2 lety

      Most people will need to bend their knees regardless of height (unless you are really, really short or have a very tall doorway). Weight might become a factor though as you get taller so make sure the pull-up bar can support your weight.

    Do you know what width in inches is your doorway?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 2 lety +1

      I moved from my old place so I don't have that width, but my current doorway (which works with this bar) has a door frame of 5.5in and the opening of the door (to the ends of each frame) is 35.5in

      I think the one you are referring to is the old version, but I actually think it is the better one. I had it a long time ago and I like it more because the entire handle has the fo padding. I'm a little surprised they still make it, but it is a good one :)

      Try changing temp. I do 3 second eccentric and I sec concentric reps and pause at each end for a second meaning each rep lasts about 6 seconds! Squeeze at each end and it will feel vigorous. You can also add weight as well to make it harder

      Make sure you are stable going up and down. No kipping or jerking or it will. As long as it fits your door properly and the door frame is thick enough you will be fine. I used this with an additional 20 lbs (making it 205 lbs on the bar) and it didn't budge.
