What I do for my plants living in water

  • I wonder if my plants in water feel like they’re on a tropical vacation.
You can use the foliage pro fertilizer for plants in soil too but I am currently only using foliage pro for my plants in water. Check my link in bio for the fertilizer.
You may have a plant that is a bit thirstier than others (I’m talking to you peace lily). I have noticed those plants thrive in these hydroponics set up.
Current plants in water: peacelily, monsteras, orchids, spider plants, neon pothos, golden Pothos, syngoniums, orchid, avocado plants, epipremnum pinnatum albo
What plants, if any, do you have living in water and how’s it doing?

Try using root tabs for aquarium substrate instead! They slowly dissolve in the water and you don’t really have to mess with them at all after that! One root tab last me about a month or two depending on the plant! All of my plants are in a water set up and that’s what I use and the growth rate is crazy fast. I also add a chunk of horticultural charcoal for water purity.

I had purchased a Night Blooming Orchid Cactus online from Mercari in mid July 2022 and the plant had sustained damage from a hurricane before shipped to me and the baby growths I cut off didn’t have new babies growing until I added my broccoli water at the beginning of this month. She's been giving it old paint water and flavored soda water and all kinds of things and it's barely had any light so it's just kept reach up and up and now it just has so much stem and had 2 extremely browned and dead leaves. It just recently got a new leaf and I'm so scared to chop it and put it in water. I'm so proud it was able to make a new leaf and I don't want to stress it out more than it's been already with all the weird watering choices and lack of light. Idk what to do 😭😭 Do I need to go out and buy this? Or would I only need it if I intended to keep it in water? Would it help promote root growth or would I need something else for that? I just don't want it to die 😭

What water do you use? I’m in the UK so our tap water has a lot of fluoride. Would distilled, rainwater or something else’s be better for these?

Can you please suggest how can we avoid those green algae on the roots for plants growing in water (I could see some of your plants with green roots too, are they harmful?)

I’ve been told if the water doesn’t smell you should be fine and that the algae can actually be good!
If I’m wrong please help because I have a big plant living in my fishbowl 😅 (no fish in there tho LOL)

I noticed if you use water from osmosis or petrified water I don’t get the allergy it really makes you wonder what your showering in lol I recharge water every 3 weeks to a month and even then no algae just do it for refreshing the water

Do you transplant them to a pot with soil after they developed roots or keep them in water forever?
