www.bbc.co.uk/5... Fridays at 2pm on BBC 5 live. Mark Kermode reviews Men In Black 3. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in this latest installation from the MIB franchise.

i really enjoyed mib3, i thought the stuff about will smith in 1969 was mentioned long enough because after about 5 minutes it didnt really matter. I actually thought the 3d was quite good. it was better than what I have seen before (which isnt really saying much). i think on this occasion that Dr K is being too harsh to mib3.
I completely agree with Mark in the fact that the best way to move forward with this franchise is to get Tommy Lee Jones out of the picture. They should find angles and new storylines. The world of MIB seems interesting enough that they shouldn't stick to a single formula.
Seems a bit backwards really, he's still seeing the film. If the 3D is added as an after thought (not filmed in 3D) then it surey it should be fairly obvious that it's not going to add anything to the film as a whole.
The Doc mentions the 3D in passing, it's clear the timeslot for the review is coming to and end and besides he's already covered in a number of other videos why he thinks 3D used in every other film isn't effective or adds to the movie watching experience so if you're familiar with his other reviews then you'll be able to understand why he mentions the MiB3 3D in a brief and cursory way.
I agree with you on that Men in Black 1 and Josh Brolin's impression of Tommy Lee Jones is a very good rendition. As for Men in Black 2 I found that it was a good follow up to the original. Granted that I was 13 at the time and didn't have much cinema knowledge but I thought it was a good film. Though I have not rewatched for a few years my opinion may change.
MIB 1 = great fun, awesome song. 2 = dreadful cash in and makes no sense. 3 = much better than I think it gets credit for. A worthy sequel to the first one, despite a pretty preposterous fight on the rocket at the end. Its good fun though.
The plot for men in Black 2 would have worked if it was the last film made in the franchise and deliberately playing on past glories, the fact that it followed right after the first meant that the impact of Tomy Lee Jones was lost
3D used to be a tool used by the movie/cinema industry to say "yes you could watch the film of your TV at home. However, come to us and you can see it on our amazing 3D screen." Now we have 3D televisions so making 3D films to get people into cinema theatres is pointless. Hopefully directors and producers will learn this and abandon 3D because it's a costly addition that doesn't add to the experience and doesn't increase ticket sales like it was intended to do in the first place.
The film’s writing & direction don’t live up to his supposed expectations, however the film’s still funny, well acted, stylish & effective. (69%) (3.5/5 stars) (positive)
69%? 3.5/5? Just say positive, even though I could clearly see that from the first sentence. Review scores have always been a load of bull. Ok it’s 3.5 stars, but as always the question is… why? Expand? Anyway. Who am I to say anything
0:11 ... 19th century was from 1800-1899... 20th century was 1900-1999... 21st century, which is the century we are in now.. is 2000-2099... if you think about it, it makes sense.... once 2100 comes, 21 centuries will have passed, so it cant be the 21st century, its thee beginning of the 22nd century... majority of people get this mixed up... cuz they look at the first two digits of the year
1st movie is one of my favourite movies of all time. 2nd movie as unnecessary and disappointing. 3rd film was better but I don't see me actively watching it again.
Well, the time for that would have been two movies ago. The MiB tv series was really, really good. At least the first season. It got a bit goofy after that. It's no Netflix. I consider that the only worthy sequel to the series.
5:14 they are incorrect. The man told Will Smith that if he lost the time traveling device, life would be terrible because of racism. So in a way they told it wrong.
Men in Black 1 is very good. Funny, cool, with enough interest to last multiple viewings. MIB2 terrible. MIB3... Mm, I'll just rewatch MIB1. I will say this though Josh Brolin as a young Tommy Lee Jones fantastic casting. His voce and mannerisms is pitch perfect. Will probably watch it for him.
Don't want to see it, Men in Black 2 was poor, the first worked because Will Smith did the urban guy thing while Jones got to do the whole grouchy old guy schtick. TBH, they should have left it alone.
Corporations are souless sociopaths. It happens all the time, and it's to be expected. RoboCop is a surprise success? Make a whole series of awful movies, tv shows, and toys to cash in!
0:14 Simon see's an invisible Fly
I personally loved Men in Black 3.
Thanks to this review I now know that Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Concords played Borris the animal.
It's just Boris.
"No character"?
I was kinda moved in the ending when J sees his own past.
10 years later😂 anyway I read that Paul Thomas Anderson also felt the same way, he cried his eyes out with that revelation.

" The 3D, you go *plop*....yup...and oh I see, the blob's going to fly into the screen on me. And thank you very much. "
Perfect.

How can you see an invisible fly?

It was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be, I enjoyed it thoroughly and Josh Brolin is a really good TLJ impersonator.

First one is still hilarious

just watched it, i suppose kermode was right here, certainly better than MIB2 but can never match MIB1. But overall a decent film. 7/10.
you'll probably find he has to due to press screenings
5:14 they are incorrect. The man told Will Smith that if he lost the time traveling device, life would be terrible because of racism. So in a way they told it wrong.
He doesn't actually say "but".
Plus, he's reviewing a film that's in 3D. Regardless of his opinion, he has to mention how that affects the film.
That's all Hollywood has become, that and remakes.
Brolin was very good in my opinion
Great fun but the time differences were all over the place. And holy hell I hope I don't look like that when I'm 29
A lot of people agree with him that 3D for 3Ds sake harms a movie.
well if i said see's fly i would of got loads of comments saying 'Where is the Fly' so thats my I put Invisible.I understand and its ok.

i really loved this, i thought it was the best of the trilogy by a long shot. but thats just what i thought, sorry mark
I'm not going to see it! I was...but after this can't be bothered. Just watch the original!
shudders
Tommy Lee Jones is funnier.
Come on people, you don't have to agree with kermode.
Why doesn't Kermode just stop seeing films in 3D..
3D is a painful gimmic
It was good...
No.
@@Clay3613 LMAO...
You crazy.
I liked the "Wild Wild West" too...
Mark, a turkey's one of the dumbest birds on earth.

Hahaha

Genuinely one of the worst films I've ever seen.
Yup, I wanted my money back and I didn't even pay to see it...MIB2 was far superior.
I hate MIB3...
Awful film. Better than MIB2 though.
