Some of the very BEST (also no cost) education Iâve gotten was just reading installation manuals for equipment. I kick myself often because for the first 5 or so years, I didnât read any of them and nowâŠ. EVERY CHANCE I GET! Seriously, itâs been some of the most enlightening stuff and has saved me hours of headache.
Rule 1 of HVAC. Always refer to manufacturer specs and manual.
Thanks a lot boss! Always looking forward to watching your videos! Youâre the manđđ€đ
Nice thorough video Chris, wiring can be tough, always helps to see it, I like how you threw in the schematic helps the young guys as always appreciate all your help.
You did a good job explaining the topic. I understood what you were teaching. Keep up the good work.
As always, great video. I always learn something even when I've done it 100 timesđ
Awesome canât wait to see what you got coming down the road.
Thanks Chris for share your experience with us.
Thank you so much you made my job easy for me I appreciate you for doing these types of videos..
I wish someone explained it to me like this when I first started out Nicely done.............

Hey Chris, Sorry to hear about your injury, get better and git after it again.
Great video I am new to light commercial refrigeration so these walk in freezers where a little tricky for so thank you for the video
Thanks so much for taking the time making the video to share your knowledge. Huge help to us new guys in the HVACR field, much appreciation. keep up the great work.
Ron Tolley thanks man
very direct and laid back delivered lesson... it should help anybody in this field
Roy Prenell thanks man.
Where were you when I was 24. Course that was in 1974 but dang what we learn over the yrs. thanks for explaining the magic. Ya make it easy. đđŒđ
John Golding hey I appreciate That man hahah I wish I had CZcams when I was 24 hahahah
Thanks boss, this playlist you made is amazing. 10/10. you won a spot in heaven for sure đ
Thanks man! I just learned everything i wanted to know about my freezer wiring!
I appreciate your explanation itâs great
Iâm on Cape Cod and Iâm starting to do a lot more freezers and this will help....đđżđđż lets go âïžâïž
Cool Runnings Refrigeration thanks man I appreciate that ! Have fun down there. I havenât worked on the Cape in years ! Haha
Great breakdown and explanation
Thanks for the video I hate coming around a stubborn old tech who donât want to explain anything, god bless you and CZcams for this
Thanks man appreciate it
Thank you for your time and teaching
Best video on the Internet on this subject
M tech thank you đ
Thanks for your time đ
really good explanation thats what I need, thanks for your video...
Love it! Thanks for the tips
Man u really help me understand this. Thanks so much broo
Thanks man great video! I'm working on a 404a freezer Tomorrow morning and the schematic is toast. The condensing unit is running and the solenoid is energized and thermostat is working ok but the fans aren't coming on. I'm thinking its probably the defrost termination switch but this video was a lifesaver with no schematic. Thanks buddy!
Mr anonymous glad it could help man. All these schematics can be found in the heatcraft website also . Good luck with the call man
Yes. good explanation. could have used this 25 years ago.
Great video, I'm learned something today ^_^
Thank you for your help
Thank you for your helpful video
Great info!
I appreciate this video, Thank you đđ
Carlos thanks man hope it can help
Awesome video
Great tutorial , Chris đ
I wish I meet veteran techs as yourself and I would have done your head in with tons of questions !
Instead , I came across patronising know-it-all cut-thoat people who almost made me give up the trade !
Nice to see there's still old school good guys like yourself out there , much appreciated bruv .
How's the back ache btw ?
Sterling Archer thanks man appreciate that đ. The back is doing good.
Thanks for the information
thank you master , learn a lot ! keep up /

All electronic here in Europe. And belive me, more than once I wished to put mechanical on more than one system. I love that simplicity.
Juan TodolĂ yes I prefer the mechanical clocks as well
Same here Juan , hey btw u in Spain ? Eres español señor ?
Thanks a bunch!
You saved me from creating one for sum techs
Thnx
Good job thank you
Thanks alot am young and am going through the same thing
Nice Chris!
Thanks brotha
good stuff bud.
Thank you very much. I appreciate it. More videos? When?
Thank youđ
Glad you didnât use a Grasslin electronic clock, I hate them. The Paragon mechanical clocks are the best IMO. Thanks.
Thx
Hey Chris havenât heard from you for a bit hope your back is better, take care man, hope to see a video soon
Chris Cooley hey thanks man . Iâll be back to work tomorrow. Got cleared by the doctor last week

Hey buddy Iâve been running residential and commercial hvac for 10 years. Iâm installing my first walk in freezer and a video on setting up cut in and cut out pressure would be awesome. Also this freezer didnât come charged so a video on charging a freezer from scratch would be awesome thanks
How did this job turn out haha
Job went fine considering Iâve never worked on walk ins before so was a great learning process and everything is still working great
How have you been in the trade 10 years and you canât adjust cut in cut out? Why are you taking jobs on things you know nothing about. What a scab.
Question? I'm working on a unit and when it terminates defrost either by time or temp the solenoid valve opens and the fans immediately energize after the soleniod valve. All Brand new equipment.. I'm thinking it was originally wired wrong but confused on were they wired it wrong?
Hey bud , thanks for doing these type of videos, I really appreciate it. I have a Traulsen freezer G22010 and it keeps on freezing up. Im stuck on why my heater coil is not working. today I tried once more but were can I get the diagram so I can narrow it down to were the problem is. it is an old freezer I know. but i love fixing stuff and now is about feeling proud of getting it fixed. My parents have owned it since 1998 I believe, running our first bakery. 4 years ago I took over one of my parents locations, we are Dorcas Bakery, and although my Dad wants me to get rid of this well built freezers, I have been tackling down issues as they come due to the age of the unit. there is no other better unit for me, but years of service on this unit are taking a toll on it. First , the clock needed to be replaced," EASE ONE" done! Then, I fixed a short, some wires got to old and I fixed it 3 years ago. 3 months ago, I noticed it kept freezing up and the heater coils would not turn on. initially the wiring as faulty and old, I swapped it, now it has a good connection (checked with multimeter)...bottom line Im stuck , what is my next route?
Maybe try going to the Traulsen website . They should have a bunch of manuals and diagrams for each model
Ohm out the defrost heater and look for burnt contacts on the timer.
This is an old reach in cooler it does have a solenoid on it too
I'm working on a turbo air walk-in freezer. At start up, the fans would not run because the fan delay was not cold enough. What will cause that fan delay to get cold enough to kick the fans on if the room is at 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Does the compressor just keep kicking in and out on low pressure till the room gets cold enough?
If you see 120 volts on the x terminal all the time is this normal? Itâs running a gravity system coil no fans or heaters I donât understand how they have this clock wired
The defrost timer should be located before thermostat or after thermostat?
Any links to the books?
what about the condensing unit?
Were can I get that book?
Thanks for the videos, Great Explanation, Since you are an Old Champ in this field, What should be normal operating pressures for refrigeration units as far as Walk in Cooler or freezer and the same for reach Ins, what kind of sub cool and super heat should we expect from these units in order to trouble shoot these units properly ?
Allah Mir well it can all be different depending on the type of Freon and if itâs low temp or medium temp etc
@@Cscrefandhvac Is there any reference to this subject or chart i can study .
Allah Mir you should be able to find a lot of things or manuals in this subject online at manufacturers websites etc
Any thoughts about sequence of operation. Wiring a new WI freezer (everything is 2 speed evap fans now days with extra relay to control speeds) and seems like heat craft gives no provision for compressor to shut off on pump down before defrost heaters come on. Max breaker/ fuse size on nameplate does not seem to reflect compressor/ condenser motors running amps AND heater AMPS to be drawing at same time. Defrost kicks heaters on same time as solenoid closes and compressor starts pumping down
Do we change factory control set up/ add more controls or just oversize what nameplate says for fuse sizes??
Small 1.5 HP WI freezer box this is.
Dawned on me with getting proper fuse sizes. I would hate to single phase a new 3 phase compressor because a fuse blew prematurely!
What do guys think/ do?
No more spaces and impractical to run new 2 pole circuit just to evaporator coil on this freezer!
What do you guys do?
It goes in defrost like normal but I donât know why I see 120 volts on x no matter what the clock is in
Hi, for some time clocks I have seen defrost heater resistor receiving power directly from the time clock. In other cases, there is a separate contactor for defrost heater, and the time clock is connected to the coil of the defrost contactor. What determines this difference in wiring? Thanks.
It can depend how the system is set up but more for the amperage of the heaters because sometime they need their own circuit because of what they draw for amps .
What terminals do you use if your walk in has a solenoid wiring harness? Is it N and 4?
The wiring harness is in the evaporator.
hello sir question if i put the unit in defrost on the timer it goes to red and then switches right away to refrigeration it goes to green could that be caused by the dtfd or because the unit is still warm 40 degrees and the fans come on right away
any help would be great thank you for your time
cooling&refrigeration guy yes , that could be a cause for sure man
@@Cscrefandhvac thank you for ur reply
cooling&refrigeration guy could also be the 2 wire heater limit switch that could be in the evap also
so the compressor has its own power supply from the panel?
obedb093 the condensing unit does always , sometimes power will go to the evap from condensing unit. Other times the Evaps will have their own power supply. Just depends on how itâs wired
What kinda book do you have?
Where would you wire your condensate drain line heater in this application?
Those are usually on their own separate circuit / outlet on the wall that they just plug into
You always make really informative videos. Just a quick question: do you ever do âsimplerâ residential or are you dedicated commercial?
Mark Naravas I do all commercial work. Every once in awhile I may get a residential call if other techs are backed up
Chris were you been buddy? Hope your well.
I'm still here haha
I just replace a new 3 phase condensing freezer but is a little different and I am alitle lost brother
Can you jump N and X to exit defrost VS twisting the timer to exit defrost?
Moe Ashraf I suppose you could Iâve just always turned the clock though haha
@@Cscrefandhvac yeah. Its was just I had finished fixing the unit but with the box temp was up and the correct time landed on a defrost. This was a graslin timer without a defrost termination in the evap. Didn't want to short anything so I told them the unit would turn back on after 30 minutes.
Moe Ashraf ok I see hahaha. You couldâve just turned the dial on the clock though unless you didnât want the time to get messed up
got a link for a copy of that heat craft book?
found this, www.heatcraftrpd.com/literature/literature.aspx?&fid=956
R C should be available on their website somewhere. They also come with all new units. Supply houses may have some too they could give you
You also holding a defrost heater on your fingersđ
You ok, have not heard from you in almost a month
Jose JuliĂĄn Iâm good man just got back to work. I was out for 6 weeks with a back injury
@@Cscrefandhvac stay strong brother, glad you ok. Best wishes to you and yours...
Jose JuliĂĄn thanks man you too . Hoping to have some new vids soon
I can smell that cigarette
As a fridge electrician I am ashamed of just how stupid and lazy to learn most of my competitors are. For that I would like to thank them. I'm called on several jobs to sort out attempted control wiring. On my way today to charge a premium rate to get another one running. This one is special as the customer tells me he is an "engineer". Wonder where he parks his train? TOG out!!
U talk to quick man lol need to watch this over few times n let it marinate. Slow down a little
Wild Man Hahahha sorry about that man. Just the way I talk I guess Hahahha
@@Cscrefandhvac na just slow down a little for us not so familiar w refrigeration guys I even doing hvac and want to get into refrigeration u def seem to show detail to everything but I gotta do a lot of pause and rewind cuz u go flash Gordon on parts lol
Wild Man Iâll for ya bro hahađ
@@Cscrefandhvac I live about hour and change north of Manhattan and its a bitch to have to travel to a refrigeration class down there tuna tryna go thru hell lol so tryna self educate myself until I can find affordable and close school or a comp that might hire just to do refrigeration so I can learn to be grear at it I DOD HVAC installs and got into service but the ppl always ask like biz owners if I can do walk ins and all that type refrigeration and I see it's a big demand for it
hire a tweaker to hold your camera.... their hands are steadier
