Another cracking stamp, and I'm looking forward to reading the findings of other viewers. As a line engraved geek, it's always nice to come on here and see something very different. 👍

Wow! That's a stunning error, so striking. I wonder if it's worth any money?

This is a nice error, quite striking looking with the black and white face.
I'd agree it's a missing colour error, I'd need to see the traffic lights for this stamp to work out which one or ones are missing.
What value would you give this stamp? Striking missing colour errors from this era start at about £40 so I'd say at least that value and maybe more if no other examples are known of?
This has been an amazing packet of stamps you found.

The missing colours for this particular stamp are rosine and yellow for the face and the lilac for the border... the black and grey make up the outline of his face. It has been an excellent packet. I've shared this video on other social media platforms and there's been a far more vociferous outcry that the stamp is a fake. If it is, it's not of my doing and I'm still convinced that it's legit.

@@coinsstampsandcollectibles3552 Yeah ok, I've sorted through thousands of stamps from this era and I've yet to find a fake? Does it have any signs of phosphor on it? Compare the perforations and outline of the face for a comparison, it looks real to me.
I've got a collection of SG1170 Santa by Sam aged 5, lots of them, and I've got some really good errors that aren't recognised in any catalogue, I've got one I'd love to feature, to try figure out what happened to it, like you're doing.
Where did the stamps come from? The black fibres suggest it's been one individual collector that has possibly sifted through thousands of stamps to find these rarities?
I bought a collection from an old collector a few years back that had some brilliant errors and postmarks and he told me it took years to find them.
All it takes is one or two rogue sheets getting through and you have an ultra rare stamp. These things only really get attention when the portrait of the queen or the denomination is missing.

That stamp would be worth an expertization certificate in case it is a rare error. Of course that is up to the owner .

There's a strong possibility that may happen

last week I bought a box of stock books and such from a local that went to a flea market. one of the books had lots of Gv-Wildings and later machins etc. there were tabs next to each section telling reg set, sideways wtrmrks , upside down wtrmrks. rows of phosophors, gravure, litho and whatever. so I have my work cut out for me to check but in that order will salute the previous collector for sorting all the varieties and such. I did find a few mint US misperf line pairs and perhaps some othe rthings I have yet to find.

It's very nice that you find your viewers much more helpful than Stanley Gibbons, but given their performance to date, it doesn't really require a lot of effort on our part to surpass them! I think it's another printing error, but which colours? I would guess rosine and blue. Would love to hear if this error is listed in that other catalogue your viewer found the last error in. And it's so nice that you found a second error in that packet of stamps! Any more gold hidden in there...?

I appreciate everyone's comments on here. The missing colours seem to be rosine and yellow for the face and lilac for the border. I've checked the online site and it doesn't seem to be a listed error on there. There are a few more interesting finds but I think I'm gonna move away from these errors for a while. I shared this video on another social media site and the reaction was more hostile, people were claiming it was a fake. I think I'll do other videos for a while and return to the other stamps found in the packet once the dust has settled in the philatelic community.

@@coinsstampsandcollectibles3552 I'm sorry to hear you're receiving negative comments on other platforms. Some people just have a fear of the unknown. They think if they don't know about it, it doesn't exist, when in fact it just means they haven't met it before. It sounds to me like you picked up a nice little collection of modern errors and you can enjoy owning them. :)

It looks like an error but stamps aren't my forte.

Just to say, I got a presentation pack of the Flying Scotsman Centenary stamps today, Elizabeth's very last stamps, and they are really nice stamps. I love the £1.85 Edinburgh stamp on the mini sheet, I think it's a copy of a period poster. I was asking for you to feature them because it's the end of a long era for all us collectors and I'm calling it an end point for my collection.
How's the investigation going with this error?
    Paul

    • @coinsstampsandcollectibles3552
      @coinsstampsandcollectibles3552  Před rokem +1

Hi Paul, I haven't got the last presentation pack from Elizabeth's reign... as you say it probably will be the last for some collectors, I may get around to buying it soon. As for the error stamp, I'm still no further on with it really. On the other social media site where I shared this they were all saying it was a fake, either faded by the sun or bleached by chemical treatment. If chemical treatment was used then under magnification you'd normally see remnants of the missing colour - there are none. Also the surface of the paper would show a roughness or some form of damage to it. There is neither. I checked David Brandon's site for any recorded errors of this stamp - none were listed. I'm considering getting it certified by Brandon's - that's about where I am with it.

@COINS, STAMPS AND COLLECTIBLES Well I'd be fascinated to hear an experts opinion. These detractors, have they shown any examples of fakes or sun faded stamps or chemically bleached stamps from the era?
I doubt they'll have much to back up the claims?
