"It hasn't changed much."
Smokeless powder: am I a joke to you?
@@hofn420 that's what I'm saying. For the video to claim gunpowder hasn't changed much is asinine.
@@hofn420 Good point. There is also a variety of smokeless powders. Nitrocellulose is a common component but also guanidine nitrate and nitroglycerine are common. All of these things are actually high explosives and not propellants - so there are phlegmatizers added (ingredients which make the nitrate-based explosives react much more slowly so that they produce a lot of gas but no shockwave). The key to smokeless powder is that almost all of the products of the reaction are gasses and not solid particulates.
omg, that camera work, getting dizzy
Cool video. I learned to never operate a camera while drunk...
What annoys me more, is that this camera shake is probably not an instructed, or even incompetent cameraman, but a computer-generated effect. I think that because it follows faces suspiciously accurately, it zooms in the same increments and the shake is repeating.
Who thought this was a good idea???
let’s all crouch down to face level precisely when we set of the explosion! “our goggles will protect us silly”
His face when she shut him right down “ Uhm that is a fuse….” LOL 😅
Additionally, minor changes to the formula can make it burn faster, slower, hotter, cooler, with more expansion or less expansion.
Phosphorus and sodium for instance are two components that can make it burn hotter, making it more prone to thermal runaway.
Increasing the sulfur or carbon in ratio to the nitrogen will decrease the potential for thermal runaway and confined energy, while increasing non-confined energy and total heat produced by reducing available internal oxygen. The resulting mixture will have more heat non-confined, making it better for fuses.
Replacing the sodium with more nitrogen by using an alternative nitrogen source, will increase expansion.
Adding metal particles (a common practice in fireworks and fuses) will slow burn and reduce thermal runaway by increasing total thermal mass, hence increasing the amount of energy required to heat it. It will also increase resistance to extinguishing. It also makes pretty sparks. Different metals make different sparks. Combining the wrong metals can have the reverse effect by creating a small chance of a thermitic reaction. The quality and chance of thermitic reactions depend on the ability of the carriers to combine the two metals. Gunpowder is a bad carrier for this, so the chance is small, random and dangerous. Don't mix metals in combustion unless you know what you are doing.
What if this gunpowder is mixed with gasoline and dried. Does it burn faster?
That close up on the fuse looked cool, u could see a bunch of colors as it sparked
please keep the camera still!
Glad they had a great bang together
Quick match tape works on the same principles. Tape over the fuse in between shells and make them fire in a lot quicker succession.
She pretty much made an improvised quick match. I have it in my shell fireworks
And now, boys and girls, know THIS: When you put a tiny amount of gunpowder in a small brass tube, confined, and put an igniter at one end, and a piece of lead sealing up the other end, you have a firearm cartridge. Which instantly produces tens of thousands of pounds per square inch of explosive pressure inside the brass.....and propels the bullet at supersonic speeds. So, be more careful the the cute girl in the video.
Don't experiment on your own. Small amounts of confined gunpowder power things like bullets and cannons and bombs.
jalbert222 and? Why should thats top you from experimenting? You just anti science?
l subscribed to see James May do commentary not this garbage
Dude... James has been out for about 3 years by now... They even had time to rename the whole channel since then. The "unsubscribe" button is right there. Click it and stop complaining...
Logic, ever heard of that? "l subscribed to see James May, this is garbage". James May is gone. James May isn't coming back. Unsubscribe. Period
Stop complaining to the ones that remain and try to create interesting content.
your supporting the work Bir Lab is doing? have you seen the level of quality on their uploads lately
Some are good. Not all, definitely, but the quality has gone up and down periodically since James left. But it's a free country. You don't like, you don't watch. As simple as that. No need to bitch about it.
That's also my last reply, I'm not here to argue with trolls...
i'm getting a little sick from the shaky camera in theese videos...
Good Video. The shaky cam close-ups drive me mad though.
The camera work makes this unwatchable!
the cameraman be like
weeewoooo zoom in, zoom out weeeee.
I bet after the taping of the show, those two guys ran a train on her.
This is what happens when those crybaby butterflies are given human camera operator positions.
Science is so cool
Lady, since Chinese have invented gunpowder, a lot of things happened .The composition of gunpowder in middle ages ( dark or brighter, take your pick) was not 75/15/10 ratio, but way leaner on potassium nitrate side, closer to 50%,since saltpeter was very expensive. It was also heavily contaminated,The gunpowder was not corned, only used as a meal powder( your spectacular presentation of the fuse contained in a plastic tube would fail).Only the last 200 years have seen gunpowder evolving into the compound as we know it today. So check your sources, regardless 1 mil + views, good luck
That is so cool . So I would like to see the difference if someone could present it in a worthy experiment. Difference between O2 levels. Normal versus excessive versus negative. Altitude and oxygen level affects everything plumb down to the flushing of a toilet. So I'd like to see how it affects something like this.
@alvin ramsey- you don't seem to understand the mechanism of gunpowder burn.Regardless oxygen level(within 20-30 %) it will burn equally fast- the potassium nitrate is an oxygen donor
They shot this like a 90s rap music video
the powder in firecrackers is called flash powder, not gun powder
“NSA dont mind me!”
That was a great bang
Stop with the extreme close ups and the shakiness, it's almost unwatchable
now i know how to make my homemade gunpowder more explosive.
One search and im on like 20 watchlists
Both guys liked that bang and she smiled.
I got a thermal run away bang I can demonstrate for ya...lol
I love a good bang
"That was a good bang, that was a great bang!" That's what they always say...
if one pack the fuse tight enough an ignite it, could it explode? Also there is a Chinese say about people getting angry is asking if they feasted on gunpowder.
They 3 seems so excited. Haven't they seen firecrackers?
Agree with everyone else here, nice vid got god damn that camera work ;_;
QUADRUPLE YOUR PISTOL'S POWER (most effective method)
I luv thermal run away.
Did it seem to anyone else like the string just shot out of the tube before burning?
Have anyone mentioned the overly shaky cam yet? Please use more of it because I did not vomit yet.
YOU SHOULD SHOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CARD
Keep the camera steady!!!!
A great bang always makes a man happy.
I wish you'd shown us the remains of the card.
Tripod?
please show the scores
The camera man isn't paid enough!!
the people who fimed this need to be fired
how I love to do that..
Shes so condescending 🤣
So, did no one tell them about ear protection?
You should inform your viewers of the recipe for gunpowder, as a child I used to have great fun making my own. There are very few ingredients.
Potassium nitrate ,charcoal and sulphur
In 75,15 , and ratio of 10
@@GauravSharmaABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQR Not according to the Chinese who invented it. There is a much lower Oxygen content in the first recipe. 55% Saltpetre.
@@bitTorrenter The early fomulas were meant to be used as incendiary mixtures for catapult firebombs and flamethrowing fire lances. Than some alchemist decided to up the saltpetre content in the recipe and got a faster burning mixture that could throw projectiles.
Gun powder has changed a lot, Chinese invented black powder while volatile it is not an explosive, it's a propellant which can create an "explosion" when contained.
Tsar Bomba has 10000000000000000000000000000000000000 gunpowder super powerful
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYY
3:03 Not black powder at all
If the smell is sulphur why does it smell good when lit but so bad when your egg goes rotten?
mast ra
why does the camera moves that much?
I'm surprised she stuck her face right there.
Is at seem gunpowder in bug bunny if so great job
ZOOM OUT!!!
Interesting mixture. Needs more improvement tho.
Why do i feel pissed watching this.
Well...Mrs. Some of the germans had this for homework !
Oh good. Another episode of the drunken camera man show.
Camera : -Mr. Bean
Press 9.
Por um acaso isso é na Inglaterra?? Alguém sabe me dizer??
sid?
That wasn't gunpowder that was flash powder.
That's not correct. Flash powder is a mix of oxidiser and a metallic fuel. This is sulphur, saltpeter and charcoal. That is why it is called 'black powder,' where as flash powder is lighter colored and often metallic depending on the oxidiser and fuel mix.
Thanks I'm a pyrotechnician I know what flash powder and gunpowder is made up from I've made enough. If you pay attention to the silver sparks and the crack of the report you can clearly tell they substituted the gunpowder with flash powder to make a better demo. Also another telltale sign is the lack of smoke as gunpowder would have made a lot more than the small amount of flash powder.
glenwoofit its not flashpowder.... not nearly enough light, and there is small bits of unburned charcoal in the flame
Don't forget it's in a bright studio so the camera would be set to probably around f5.6 or more. The exposure of the camera would have been set in rehearsal as your not looking to get a blinding flash.
There are other mixtures that could do the same job as flash powder ie. whistle mix but that would not have made the flash that it did here, that flash was a metallic flash so it's either aluminium flash powder on magnesium flash powder I would have thought it would be aluminium flash powder as magnesium flash powder can be a bit dangerous to handle saying that aluminium flash powder is dangerous enough. You would only need a very small amount of Flash powder to make that effect.
I watched the first 10 seconds 46 times 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Basic Theory implosion upon an atom will release its energy Outlet
I expected a Mission Impossible theme song when they burned the fuse. That didn't happen... :\
Make it out of ground note 7
Now I'm ready to fight zombie with sawed off shotgun 😂 If that happens 😂
GOOD BANG
Anyone Heart of flash powder
Again, cameraman please zoom out and hold camera still. I can send you my £20 camera tripod if you want? :)
Trinamool Congress wants to know your location
All the safety violations that I see😳😳
gunpowder or smokeless powder is NOT an explosive, it is a propellant. BLACK POWDER is an explosive. You were using black powder, not gunpowder.
i wonder how fast you could make a fuse with that thermal runaway
Aerosolize the gunpowder in a pure oxygen environment.
Why is she sloth from ice ages sister
Courious content. Not the brightest I have seen here though. Too many closeup shots and too many shaky cam.
so when you put gunpowder in a metal tube and compress it with a projectile..... it makes what? This was the most elementary video on gun powder ever on youtube
Why is the camera so shaky, and why do they keep zooming in like that? I've seen 10 year olds film better than this on iPhone 5s.
Hey are you clover from king julien
Was kind of cool, but it wasn't exactly educational or scientific. Maybe it was just missing all the important clips from a longer episode but this makes it look like the chick was just setting random things alight. Comparisons and controls make it educational. Exactly how much of a difference did confinement or thermal runaway make? You didn't even show the last one with the card off or if it even made a difference considering the gunpowder was packed in tape already.
Directed by Michael bay
really dosnt teach you how to make a faster burning powder crap
WELL, .................
HAS ANYONE THERE READ THE COMMENTS YET.
GET RID OF YOUR FRIEND WHO HOLDS THE CAMERA FOR YOU.
( I don't dare call them a cameraman because that would insult the profession )
Fun video, camera work is a bit nauseating...
Please zoom in more and shake the camera more? I could see way too much...
Perfect! Now unfocus and refocus a bit. Theeeere we go!
Also need more frequent change of view. It was far to easy to pay attention!
Geezus, man. I thought it was me. The cut-aways are mind numbing.
Someone get the interns in here! Tell them to get behind the cam operators & shove them around every few seconds.
Yes! Perfect!
supposedly software problem
