    Bro I 100% agree. First bought the 43x, and while it felt like a bigger gun, it shot like a smaller gun. Traded it for a 26 and haven't looked back since. Great vid and great shooting.

    This assessment is spot on based on my personal experience. This obsession with "Thinner and smaller" 9mm guns has reached critical mass. The thinner and smaller you make them, the harder they will be to grip properly and shoot accurately.
    Many people get a super thin gun with a tiny, less than 2-finger grip and then have to correct it by adding talon grips to make up for the excessive thinness and end up carrying it with an extended baseplate mag to be able to grip it solidly.
    I have found that personally, the Glock 26 is THE smallest sized gun that will shoot like a full size. In its case, the chunkiness of the grip makes up very well for the two finger grip that generally makes the new itty-bitty micro-compact guns really suck.
    It took me less than 2 weeks to learn to shoot my 26 as well as my Glock 19. Now the feel of both in my hands is identical and there's nothing I can hit with my 19 that I can't hit with my 26.
    Just a solid all purpose gun.

      How do you feel about the 48 being the dame length as the 19?

  • @steveb5370
    @steveb5370 Před 2 lety +37

    Thx for the video. As far as glocks go, I started off with the 19. I bought a 43x over a 26 because it felt better at the pew pew shop. I figured it was a good warm weather carry. I didn’t feel really confident in the 43x until i swapped out for a flat faced trigger and added a talon grip. I keep looking at g26 because I love me 19 and mag swap ability.
    Long story short. If you have a 19 or 17, go 26 before the 43x. Just my opinion.

      I do holster a little quicker and more aggressively because I do run a striker control device on all my glocks, nothing increases confidence like being able to positively control the firing mechanism but fair point for anyone else watching!

      It’s all about whether you want to transition to slim line. It’s like m lok to quad rail. One thing I noticed a lot with 43x is you have to adjust your grip. It’s so skinny you might start kanting your grip to the left. ThatLl make you move your body a little bit and you’ll notice odd fatigue after a whi,e of shooting. Grab one after the other, tell me if Im Wrong. It’s a new model, kinda feels like a 1911as far as gripping profile… slim. It’s very shootable, and very accurate. we’re just too used to the chunkier double stacks. Make sure that beaver tail is in the nook of your hand properly pointed. Get used to the new grip. It’s honestly not that strange if you’re used to “slim” guns. Also, at this point you can get a 30rd for your 43x, so the ammo thing isn’t the issue or point of debate anymore. It is apple-like updating to a new dongle. Stupid. But if you need that many rounds, why not bring a bigger gun? 43x ftw IMO. I still have the 26 backup tho. It takes my 19 mags. As a slimmer guy, I appreciate the slim like models a lot more. 42 for wives! They tend to like that!

    Excellent video about the G26!
    To be fair i've never fired the G43X or any of the other slimline micros out there on the market so I can't say anything about them either way. For me though, the G26 checks all of the boxes. It is such a smooth and accurate shooting little pistol that now it's to the point where I shoot it better than my G19 and G45. When I first got the G26, I was actually looking for a G19 which was out of stock so I "settled" on the G26 until I could get the G19. I carried the G26 as my edc, it was quickly replaced by the G19, which was eventually replaced by the G45. About 6 months ago I took out the G26 again and took it to the range along with my other pistols. The difference in recoil between the G26 and the G19/G45 was minimal and the short slide combined with the "hump" on the G26 frame just made this little chunky beast such a smooth shooting and accurate little pistol. I untilize the 12rd mags in it and feels better than my other pistols and i'm just as accurate with it. It's now my edc and even though I love my G19 and G45, I see my little G26 as the only pistol i need for my edc.

    I’m a little late to the party, but good video. I’m in an interesting position, I started off loving the 26 and getting pulled into the 43X realm thinking “Ooo! This feels nice!” And yes...I like the 43X in many ways, but I cannot lie, the 26 is still (for me) much more shootable. Better trigger (and I did put a flat face trigger on the 43X to try that, I didn’t really care for it), and I’m far more accurate with the 26. Obviously, the 26 is fatter, and a little harder to carry in that respect, but it really keeps drawing me back when I’m trying to decide which one I’m going to trust my life and my family’s life to.

    My experiences are similar when comparing the G27 (40 cal 26) with my Sig P365. The P365 is a little more concealable, but my groupings have always been better with the G27. I carry it with a 12 round mag and 2 G19 reloads. Use to carry with a 10 and 2 G17 reloads in CA. Grandfathered! Trijicon night sights from day one. Great carry gun. Good video. I prefer the 48 over both the 43x and 26. The longer slide gives it a better balance in the hand under recoil. Its a very personal thing but it feels better when shooting for me. I either carry my 48 or my 19.

      Jm custom kydex for the 43x and a phlster pro for the 26…I now have a phlster skeleton for the 48/43x and it is excellent as well

    And that is the major failing of the 43. It's single row magazine, AND it's skinny to grip.
    The 26 benefits from the arsenal of double-row Glock magazines. Fills your hand. The 43 is the warted toad in the Glock family. Gen 5 26 is best of European sub-compact breed. And remember simplicity and reliability is 101% Glocks have just 34 parts. Other brands contain 58+ parts.

    Got a G45 and love it. Held a G26 and didn't like it, so didn't buy it. Got a 43X and love it. The aggressive, short, and fat grip of the G26 just doesn't work for me.
    A short frame like with the G20sf/21sf or G29sf/G30sf in G26"X" length would be true Glock Perfection.

    You reholster too aggressive brother … your going to catch a round in your leg. The only gun you should reholster that fast and hard in a 1911 … - from a guy who’s seen 3 people take rounds in the leg on reholster. Slow it down , look down .. make sure it’s clear and slowly reholster…

      I have striker control devices on all my Glocks…it gives me the ability to positively control the firing mechanism while I reholster, you will notice I have my thumb on the back of the slide whenever I reholster, it’s because I am pinning the SCD forward as if it were a hammered gun, although I do agree with everything you said, I just have an extra mechanism as well

    So i just bought a glock 26....
    Beforehand i had a ruger secrurity 9.... And it was Boringly accurate.... Amazing Trigger. (almost Canik level)
    I can't hit anything with my Glock 26 and I am at a loss. I love the feel, love the quality, love everything about it, But i can't hit anything! Thinking its the size........

      do you have a lot of time on a glocks? grip angle, trigger placement etc. can be an adjustment from other guns, but double stack 9/40's should all shoot the sameish...my most sucessful recommendation for people struggling with glocks is to put more finger on the trigger, which may require you to shift your grip a bit. it gives you a bit more leverage and changes the sensation that triggers your brain to "brace for impact". treat it similar to a double action revolver and see if that settles things down a bit.

    Uh, I’d have to disagree with you on this one. I own a Glock 19 Gen 5 and a 43x. They both play their own role. I’ve owned 2 Glock 26 and got rid of them both. When it comes to a CCW, you want to be able to get a good purchase on your firearm immediately. The 26 is short, and chunky. Not knocking it but if you have a 19 or 17 already double stacked then you don’t need a 26.

      Funny enough I am making my way to that conclusion…at the time of the video I didn’t have a 19 in the stable, just a Glock 45, the 26 and the 43x, and of the two featured, for my stated reasons, the 26 made more sense. I have a 19 now and these days it comes with me over the 26 almost every time….video on it shortly

    I got the 43X MOS and the S15 mags. It works for me. Honestly, I've never even handled a G26 so I guess I can't compare myself. All things being equal though, I'll keep my 43X.

    Ive owned the 43, 43x, and sig p365, hellcat. Theyre so nice to carry when you dont feel like defending yourself in a gun fight. Those guns are far too small for a grown man to fight with. They are "get off me" guns. Literally.
    The glock 26 is a supreme fighting gun that I can comfortably carry, wouldnt go smaller than that. In fact Mike Glover former navy seal, mentioned in one of his videos that he had a glock 43 on him when he was threatened with a gun in California. He felt very very undergunned. To be honest, even a 43x, with S15 mags is still too small, its just a tiny gun with snappy recoil.

    You keep riding the slide when showing the guns on the table which is very infuriating lol
    I know they are unloaded but you are creating very bad habit doing that, you will get a jam guaranteed if you ride the slide like that
    Just let the slide go! Stop riding it with your other hand!

    • @morlock8621
      @morlock8621  Před rokem

      I appreciate your concern. Personally, I believe I have had enough reps between purpose driven dryfire, practice, competition, class and instruction that I am not too concerned about building a “bad habit” during the few times I clear and return the slide to battery during the table top portions of my videos, but I suppose it does set a bad example for those that may be watching. I mainly ride the slide to keep the volume down, the camera doesn’t always handle abrupt noise level changes well and it can be disruptive when viewing the videos with headphones, also I try to be considerate of other occupants of my home.
