    I have been using styrofoam egg cartons and had great success. They make the perfect little plugs. I even used a cardboard egg carton and had great results, but it needed more watering. This may be the way I start most of my seeds for next year. I agree with you about using a potting mix instead of a seed starting. I went to a potting mix a few years ago just to save on cost and saw no difference and I press my potting mix down also. I will never buy seed starting mix again. Thanks for the great video

      Great to know, thank you for sharing. I don't use the cardboard ones for seed starting only because I use them for the eggs I share with others. I often run out as I don't always get them back. 🙂

      Do you ever plant in the garden and keep seeds in egg cells?

      Yes, I use it all the time and rarely use seed starting mix. Did you see my comparison video? If not here is the link: czcams.com/video/07f1Jsz74Y0/video.html

    Hi there! Thank you for share this video with us. So helpful.
    BTW have you tried to use a heat gum?

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse  Před rokem

      No, some use a glue gun with no glue as the tip heats up but plugging it in would be a problem in the greenhouse. I only have enough plugs for the heater and the cord going out to the chicken house.

    I heard you say that you rinse away the soil when you are going to plant the little seedlings? I have never done the larger water jugs but I did this year and I was wondering if that is the process for those seedlings too?

      I should clarify that. I only rinse the roots if they are super tangled, otherwise I just gently teased them apart. You can see what I mean at the 2:20 mark of this video: czcams.com/video/A_nbg0_37Es/video.html
      Hope this helps!
