Anna Loses Her Hair - A Storybook Animation for the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group

Hi there! I'm Mair, an animator and illustrator based in the city of Derby in the UK. I offer animated video, motion design and illustration services locally, nationally and internationally.
The latest animation I created with the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group is a story about hair loss to help children going through cancer treatment understand what might happen.
Hair loss is a common side effect of treatment for childhood cancer, but its impact on childhood cancer patients can be significant. The animation 'Anna loses her hair' tells the story of Anna, Jack and Laura who all lose their hair while having treatment for cancer and helps young children to understand what might happen. This story was inspired by a special little girl called Angelica and her lovely family who kindly agreed for it to be shared to help other children and families.
This is based on an illustrated book which I adapted for animation.The style and characters of the animation are based on the book's illustrations. I designed the storyboards based on the book too with additional scenes added where needed. I created the animation artwork in Adobe Illustrator while the animation was done in Adobe After Effects. The plugins Duik and Joy Sticks n' Sliders was used for character rigging.
