The problem with the skilled argument is Mihawk isn't the World's Most Skilled Swordsman he's THE WORLD'S STRONGEST. Damn near every time Oda has shown Mihawk it's always THE WORLD'S STRONGEST SWORDSMAN.

I think it's not that easy. I just don't see Shanks as a pure swordsman.
Like look at King. He mainly fought with a sword but clearly stated at the beginning of the fight that he won't rely on any traditional styles or techniques and that he will be using anything he deems necassary (his df, his lunarian abilities etc.) thus making his fight against Zoro not a "sword fight".
Same goes for Shanks. He mainly uses a sword but has non sword related skills as well (future sight negation for example).
The problem is Mihawk lacks any good feats in comparison to other top tiers outside of Shanks. Even the title itself we have to ask: how did he get it? Has anyone challenged him for it seriously before Zoro? Because no one outside of dedicated swordsman would care about the title. So the only thing we have for the dude is his title and rivalry to Shanks. And even then his title only helps his comparison to Shanks. The only other relevant swordsman aren’t on that level yet, or are questionable swordsman. Like Law: that man is a swordsman in name only. We just need to see him do something in order to justify his position. Like Kaidos strongest creature title is already in question based on Shanks and Imu.

Mihawk doesn't have the title of the "most skilled" swordsman, he is the STRONGEST swordsman, and in a swordsman duel both fighters will be using haki, there is no excuse for Shanks.
Mihawk isn't stronger than Gold Roger or Big Mom. Whitebeard's weapon is counted as one of the supreme grade swords and Mihawk isn't stronger than him either. Strongest pure swordsman that follows the traditional swordsman bushido code is Mihawk. I wouldn't call Roger or Shanks a pure traditional swordsman that follows bushido lol 😆

If we talk about “portrayal” you can easily say that Zoro even after facing Kaido and King is STILL putting Mihawk on pedestal every chance he gets brought up.
The OP community just cannot accept the absolute FACT that top tiers have fought each other to stalemates more times than we’ve seen a clear cut Victor going back into the old era.
All this power scaling debates is so crazy, and as the fandom grows people keep having more & more differing opinions.
They literally stated that Shanks stopped Kaido from going into the war but people seem to ignore that, Shanks is a lot more powerful than people want to accept... every single person in that war respected him & did not want to continue the fight if it meant they would be facing him & his crew with resistance.
They literally showed Mihawk never be scratched or hit or damaged in every time he appears in the story, one of of the only characters... and also, they literally foreshadowed in his first appearances *"He doesn't' believe hunting rabbits with cannons"* or something like that, meaning he could have literally been using 0.1% of his full power due to the fact he wants to know for himself that its purely because of his *sword skills* that makes him the best swordsman in the entire one piece world.
People ignore that Zoro himself still sees Mihawk as a higher echelon level swordsman still, I don't think anyone would doubt that the world's strongest swordsman could cut dragon form Kaido with every single attack really quickly to the point Kaido couldn't come close to dodging any of them (due to size, a tiny precise hawk vs a big dragon).
If they do bring Big Mom back in Elbaf and make Luffy fight her just to show to the fandom Luffy has surpassed Big Mom, that's kind of the equivalent of them making Garp fight Blackbeard to show how overpowered Blackbeard has actually become after all his growth (if we pay attention to the story they show Blackbeard is going through all of his own progression/growth/adventures & things scaling him up as an antagonist just like Luffy has had a protagonist).
Also, its very unrealistic for people to be upset at Garp not being this legendary god tier figure anymore, he's literally very old/ancient, its like being upset for whitebeard not being in his prime anymore. Even dark king Raleigh, a legend of his own said himself he wasn''t sure what would happen in an all out fight to the death against current Teach, since he's not closer to his prime level like he was as a young or middle aged man.

Zoro barely faced kaido, and he was shook. He faced king at 100% because of the Chopped medication. He was shook facing king as well at some points. But ultimatly came out on top. It's safe to say mihawk is clearly above King as if that wasnt obvious. but saying hes at Kaidos level is a bad claim in general.

so at the highest levels of swordsmanship, willpower/haki is intrinsically linked to your power. mihawks title is worlds strongest swordsman, hes stated as canonically the most skilled swordsman, shanks is a swordsman, so mihawk should be stronger.

He also showed that law is a swordsman too, meaning that those who have abilities, in and outside of swordsmanship. Shanks has shown destroying observation and creating flames and we've never seen a haki master go all out. It's not mental gymnastics to suggest that there's even more to haki then what we've seen.
Mihawk is not stronger than Shanks.
I won't even debate here because it will be obvious by the end of the Manga.

I believe Storywise Mihawk has to be stronger to make Zoros dream mean anything. What’s the point of one of our main guys fulfilling his dream after beating someone who the community deems a fraud? The only real way to hype of Mihawk and his title is by making him stronger than another top swordsman i.e Shanks.

Shanks being stronger than Mihawk would not affect Zoros dream at all. Because Shanks is not a True Swordsman like Mihawk. As we’ve all seen, Shanks is capable of Making an admiral run away WITHOUT having to even pull his sword out.

Mihawk's role is to be the strongest obstacle that Zoro has to overcome for his dream to be fulfilled. It's Mihawk's role in the story to be strong. Shanks doesn't have this requirement.

Shanks makes Ryokugyu sweat buckets from miles away with Haki alone. Shanks bounty over 4 bil, Mihawk bounty over 3.5 bil. And there’s no excuse other than strength because Mihawk is apart of a Yonko’s crew even having a higher bounty than his “captain” and that crew is hunting Marines so if anything it’s Mihawk who would have a threat bias bounty. I will even admit to Shanks being a *pure swordsman.* I have my comparison for that. Luffy vs Garp.
Sure, Garp is the world's strongest/most skilled brawler. But what if Luffy uses conquerors? How did Luffy beat Kaido in the final clash if it was all about raw strength? Kaido pulled up a lot of modes, that's also more skills. Even if Garp was both more skilled and physically stronger, Luffy can beat Garp in a clash of spirits. Conquerors is whats missing here. Thats what Oda calls it. But in other shows, its a *shounen trope.*
*Oda will keep the comparisons open-ended on purpose. The ones without titles have a stronger spirit than those that do.*

Well throughout the Law and Kidd fight she wasn’t taking it seriously until she went into her Bigger Big Mom Form (lol). And we saw that she won that 1v2 and left them knocked out instead of killing them (which was dumb). So she still has feats capable of fighting on par with Drunk Kaido. The real question is if she can play the long game with Kaido. Because for all we know, Kaido might have the incompleted Awakening like the Impel down jailers which would give him the durability edge.

I agree with KOL about shanks being stronger than mihawk . i remember that time in marinford when mihawk wanted to measure the distance between him and whitebeard and he proceeds to attack him but the attack got blocked before reaching whitebeard . from this scene , i understood that mihawk is not portrayed as someone in that level (whitebeard level or emperor level) because if he was then he wouldn't need to try to measure the distance between him and whitebeard he would just go and clash with whitebeard and split the sky because he is just in the level of an emperor and there is no distance to measure between him and another fellow emperor just like how shanks did .when shanks went to meet whitebeard in his ship, he wasn't portrayed as someone who is below whitebeard , no , he was portrayed as someone who is equal to whitebeard and he didn't say something like : 'i want to measure the distance between us whitebeard" , shanks just pulled his sword and clashed with whitebeard in an equal fashion and split the sky . I think all of this scenes proves that shanks is stronger than mihawk , they might have been equal at some point in the past when they where young pirates and had those duals , but when they grew shanks clearly became stronger than him and obviously mihawk also became stronger but just not in shanks's level , and besides , if he was stronger than shanks then that would just mess up the power levels in one piece because we know from the beginning that for luffy to become the king of the pirates he would have to surpass shanks to do that , Oda hinted about this in chapter 1 , and for zoro to become the strongest/greatest swordman he needs to surpass mihawk to do that , so for people to say that mihawk is stronger than shanks is just coping way too hard because mihawk himself said to luffy that his goal of becoming the king of pirates is way harder than surpassing him , in other words , surpassing mihawk doesn't make you the king of the pirates , it just makes you the strongest/greatest swordsman because becoming the king of the pirates is harder than surpassing him just like how he said . but on the other hand surpassing shanks means that Luffy will be in the king of the pirates level according to what oda said through shanks in chapter 1 , that automatically makes shanks stronger than mihawk because surpassing one gives you a higher status than surpassing the other one .

I think kaido will never be a problem for the strawhats but big mum will so story wise yeah she should get stronger.
Kaido thought the only one strong enough to beat him would be joyboy aka luffy. And kaido wants to be joyboy or follow him.

Kaido really didn't care for Doflamingo past being his associate. Doffy lost ,Kaido reacted and never brought him up again 😂. I feel Kaido definitely was hyping up Jack since that's his crew mate. I feel jack is superior physically but Doflamingo awakening hard counter's someone like jack. Jack is just a big target who will get skewered by his strings. Regarding this question I feel you also have to ask is Inurashi,Nekomumushi or Ahsura doji stronger then Doflamingo?. I say no. Sulong being the only exception and even then I feel Doflamingo endurance and flight may help him somewhat..

Big Mom over Kaido is pure head-cannon and delusion, but Shanks over Mihawk makes sense from what we've been "SEEING" in the story!!! We've seen Shanks overpowering admirals and YC1 level characters like Green Bull and Kid. We also know and heard from Kaido that Shanks stopped him from going to Marineford which most probably ended in a stalemate. This puts Shanks relative to Kaido in power. Now Mihawk, we have heard in the Baratie arc that Mihawk is the "World's Strongest Swordsman". This is just like Whitebeard's title "World's Strongest Man" (even though he was past his prime and old) and Kaido's "World's Strongest Creature". These titles were proven to be wrong. While Shanks was stalemating with Kaido, Mihawk was stalemating with Vista and asking what the distance of power was between him and Whitebeard. Whether it was old or primebeard doesn't matter because we know he was minimum Yonko level for both, so Mihawk saying this puts himself below Yonko level. This is further seen because he hides on an island away from the Yonko territory of the New World. Mihawk told Luffy that becoming King of the Pirates is harder than beating him, which once again states that he is not as strong as Yonko, (however I can see cases for Big Mom.) Mihawk could have beat Shanks 14 years ago, taken the title, and then not fought any top tier characters like the Yonko, because if Mihawk is truly stronger than Shanks that makes him able to compete against characters like Kaido, Shanks, Luffy, and Blackbeard. Furthermore, when Buggy says he wants to get the One Piece, Mihawk was complaining about having to fight the Yonko. If the Mihawk fanboys' excuse to these arguments is "he doesn't feel like fighting them, but he could beat them" that just makes him not worthy of the title because he doesn't have a conqueror's attitude and would make Zoro's win be underwhelming cause he's fighting an unenthusiastic fraud!!!!! The end.

Mihawk would put all them kids to sleep. Whitebeard said shanks/Mihawk fights were legendary. That was with shanks having his dominant hand. Mihawk said it himself that the only person he was interested in fighting was whitebeard. Saying kaido would beat Mihawk absolutely baffles me.

Her hunger is purely plot at this point.. Kaido has shown getting damaged physically more then big mom . Although you can argue we never saw someone use Conquerors imbuement against her. I feel her AoE attacks are superior to Kaido attacks as well.. I feel fatigue would eventually set in on her though..
