Nowadays so many type of handbrake, the foot one, the tradional hand one, then there is the button on the left, then button on the dashboard. Me as a seasoned driver also need to find the damn brakes. Being a p plate driver, it is understandable they cannot find and assume there is no handbrake. Be gracious la people, and people on the road, cannot take 5 minutes to remind the driver meh?
Why not the driver should take 10mins to familiarise and understand the control first?
Newer cars handbrake is on left as a button/lever. Anyways, lets be gracious to the drivers.
This is why handbrakes should all be standardised, I strongly favour the traditional one.
yea now alot of cars got weird Handbrakes or lack thereof! lol! the Nissan Kicks i believe has NO Handbrake, not even an electronic one.. it has only ONE Pedal both for gas and braking lol! ... P Plate driver is understandable and also the car might be too big for him or her to drive.. P plate drivers shouldn't be allowed to drive rental cars for a reason... not experienced enough.. at least till 2 yrs license.

@@user47362 What he means is that some who keep on renting cars do not clock the mileage and never will have any relevant experience. It is hard to gain relevant experience through just renting a car occasionally.

Depends on the config le. Some cars have auto-hold. Some on the foot, Some as a handbrake on the left. Mine will auto park brake once I click on the right stock to engage P as typical of Mercedes.
If you're going from one layout to another that's completely different, can understand it's abit scary sometimes.

Getgo Tivoli's parking brake on the left for some reason.
No reason for a new driver not to know to release a parking brake before driving off.
Unless is a Shuttle, took me 5min to figure out that the reason the car won't move is a foot parking brake.
Might take the same driver a week to figure out though.
Agree, I hate driving that shuttle hybrid, horrible stick and with 2 parking brakes. Info on screen came up in full Japanese too.

Ya.. that's right.. when you finally decide to "drive" yourself you'll have to actually be the one to release that handbrake, no more looking at handphone bochup just let bus captain/train driver do all that hard work of braking, accelerating, RELEASING HANDBRAKE, you know, the small stuff that you didn't need to know about and apparently still don't, you should just "drive" back to driving centre and return that card they gave you, there was likely a mix up and someone else hasn't received their license yet.
Car rental should be restricted to min 2 years of driving experience… if go unchecked anyone without a license could just drive by downloading the app and used anyone’s identity.

Earlier days the car leasing company have this guideline the drivers must be at least 23 years of age with min 2 years of driving experience, during those days you hardly heard accidents involving leasing vehicles.

Sometimes you have to wonder about those people with rental car. Once I assisted a young couple in starting their rental car engine....not sure why they weren't aware that some vehicle you need to press the brake pedal to start the engine...
