Yui and Moa made up this song during their Singapore 2013 visit, and repeated it over and over again to the point that staff complained. : )
To pass the time while they were on their bus, Su suggested the theme of "4" as a challenge to Yui and Moa after they successfully made up songs on the themes of "banana" and "wood".
Koba decided to have it professionally arranged so Yui and Moa could perform it in concert.
I don't know how it works in the Japanese music industry, but since Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) are officially credited with both the lyrics and music for this song, I hope they are still getting some royalties.
The last time this was performed was at the two 'Legend S' concerts, Su's 20th birthday shows in Hiroshima.
Yui was supposed to be there, but it was announced at the last minute that she would be unable to perform.
Moa performed the song as a solo, but the Japanese crowd helped with Yui's lines in the song.
She also performed 'GJ!' at those two concerts.
Moa continued to perform the Black BABYMETAL song 'GJ!' as a solo during the 2018 tour.
Oh wow, that is pretty wild. Who would have thought? Haha Such an interesting and cute story.
Early on, Yui and Moa were a real handful on the tour bus...like most kids their age.
And folks that is why YUI-CHAN, The ANGEL OF DANCE is missed soooo much!!!!!!
I feel lucky in a way that I've become a fan of Babymetal after Yui's departure. Su and Moa together or with an Avenger feels as normal to me as it does with Yui.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu yea same and discovered sometimes later that Yui left, must be hurt for earlier fans
@@pi0nvillag3r I discovered them last year but Yui's departure still hurts (even if I didn't experienced it while it happened). I just can't help adoring the special chemistry the three girls had back then. And Yui's so much fun to look at when she's singing and dancing. :)
This song were written by Yui and Moa while on a tour bus in Singapore as a challenge pose by Su to write a song. Babymetal forever. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤟
Is this actually true? I've seen people say this many times, but it's never been confirmed to me whether it's true or just a widely accepted story. Genuinely curious
@@Calamari35 It's mostly true. Yui and Moa were making up a song poking fun about the superstitions around the number 4, to pass the time. Apparently when staff on the bus asked Koba to have them stop, he decided to have music written for it. Yui and Moa did create the lyrics.
@@Calamari35 Absolutely! Both are even credited in the official Japanese copyright database for this song!
MAYHEM IN THE DICODEC STUDIO caused by two kids singing a song about the number 4 they made up randomly on bus trip. Awesome.
sometimes you just need a song about the number 4 to get the crowd hype
The reggae part always had reactors completely off guard. That's Babymetal for you.
Please practice the following lyrics:
1. Song 4: yon yon yon yon yon ....
2. BabyMetal Death: DEATH DEATH DEATH...
3. ROR: woh oh oh oh woh oh oh....
4. Gimme Chocolate:
Atatata taata taatatata zukkyun
Watatata taata taatata dokkyun
5. Karate:
Seiya se se se seiya
Soiya so so so soiya
6. Megitsune: Sore Sore Sore Sore...
...
Ok! We are ready to go to BabyMetal concert now!
there are two ways of saying 4 in japanese: shi and yon. Shi also means death that's why its considered to be a bad number. The lyrics state that 4 is only a number. It starts like: after one comes two, after two comes three, after three comes oooooooh! four etc. BTW theres a lot of dance poses referring to the 4 in this.
“I’m waiting for the song to develop!”
Me: It ain’t gonna develop any more than it has 😆
Every choreography pose has got a 4 in it. Either fingers, or body poses that look like 4s or a combination of the 2 girls to make 4.
Lol! Everyone wants to mosh until they get an elbow in the face . Oishi=delicious. It's a play on words as it contains "shi" , another word for "4", which in turn also means death. The song is full of these play on words. The point of which is to make the usually bad luck "4" (shi/yon) a "good" word.
Sis Anger btw. Lol. That was fun!
In Japan, we pronounce 4 “ Yon or Si”. And, In Japan, Si means death. So Japanese are mostly hesitates using 4 for any situation. But, BABYMETAL claim that 4 is not only meaning “death” but also “happy and Joyful” in this song because “ happy = Siawase , Joyful = Yonrokobi” using Si and Yon. They are kawaii and pretty good 🤘
It blows my mind that Moa performed this entire show with a Knee injury, you can see her loosing her balance a few times during the video, what a pro!! Great reaction as usual
And then years later, Moa singing this song alone, so sad 😔
@@dicodec Yes, it was a surprise to her too as it was the Legend S concert. The first one Yui missed before we all found out she wouldn't return. So Moa pulled it off herself as well as another Black BABYMETAL song.
@@mikepowers9486 the crowd tried to help out by singing Yui's parts in the songs. Su and Moa had a hard time but like the professionals they are carried on and did awesome.
Do these girls ever disappoint? It would 1000X more fun being there yes, but it is still great seeing those girls control the crowd and smile the entire time. They were having a blast.
Your reaction was killing me. Almost Died when you were moshing and then suddenly had to regain your balance to figure out where that reggae music was coming from. Of course this song is shorter on the album since they aren't messing with the crowd so much. They have similar fun with this song on the Tokyo Dome version you got on Blu Ray. Someone will explain what the song means and how it was thought up. Hint: Moa and Yui had a lot to do with it themselves.
Anyway thanks for the laugh and another wound for Eric. It's either the Mic punching his face or Alan's elbow!
思わず笑顔になりますね。
YUI&MOA expresses the attractiveness of the whimsical girl in admirability!
Love BABYMETAL and the Kami band. Hilarious reaction. Keep 'em coming boys.
Haha, that was fun ... and who else would have had the imagination to drop from that riff into reggae?
I was wondering if I got all the riffs used in this song correctly: the arpeggios at the beginning are from "Wolfmother - Joker And The Thief", then there's the riff and the breakdown from "Master of Puppets", and the riff before the reggae is from "RATM - Killing In The Name". Are those all of them, or am I missing something?
Cutest little metalheads EVER
These girls are freaking adorable.❤️
Plz react to 'Shine' and 'Kagerou'.
Amazing how a song about 4 can be so damn awesome xD
I think it was a test for the western culture. How much they can consume the cuteness xD
Yui being an absolute champ after falling offstage the night before. She really was a machine of awesome.
Fun reaction as always!
Deeeeeemn guys, you put the their BIO? God demn yall awesooome guys! You show appreciation to the band, thats legit!! 🦊🤘🏻
Delightful.
Alan just got tired, will he survive a Babymetal concert? Maybe Eric will get more bruises.
Nice again & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。And Happy New Year!! You understood the audiences at their concert are required to have enough cardio capacity. So I have recently intensified my workout level at the gym because I could manage to get tickets for BABYMETAL concerts at Budokan this month and in February. Wagakki Band held their 2-night concert yesterday and today at Budokan and Band Maid also scheduled on Feb.11 there. But the COVID19 situation is not so optimistic. If BABYMETAL's 1st concert on Jan.19 is held as scheduled, I am ready to willingly accept jealousy from the world. Keeping my fingers crossed for COVID19 situation under control.
This is a song which was written by Moa and Yui. Supposedly they were in a tour bus, and Su said that the 2 of them couldn't write a song. They said they could write a song about anything, and Su dared them to write a song about numbers.
So they wrote a song about the number 4. The old way to read the number in Japanese is "shi" (sounds like English she). "shi" in Japanese also happens to mean "death". So it the way they read it was changed from "shi" to the Chinese version of 4, "yon", as the character representing 4 is almost identical, in Japanese and Chinese.
That's what they're singing. The whole song is filled with puns in Japanese. They go like "shi shi shi shi" (Both as saying "Shhh, Su, we did it" and shi, the number ) then they go "yon yon", which is 4, again. Then Moa goes "after 1 we've got 2" and so on, until 4.
Yui does the reverse, but stars from 7.
The "chorus" is filled with puns, I'd better write an essay than try to explain it all here. This comment is way to big as it is, already.
🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
Su also challenge them to write a song about banana, Yui & Moa did that too but unfortunately that song never release. Maybe someday they'll release a single called BA NA NA😁
@@gothorn2758 plot twist:
Yui actually was taken off BM over a dispute whether to publish or not BA NA NA! in their (then) upcoming album, Metal Galaxy, and who'd take credits for it!!
* Intense music *
YON YON .... great reaction as always, guys! And thank you again for the stream, the emotions and the raid yesterday 😁❤️🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Today the first of 10 Babymetal Doomsday concerts went ahead at the Nippon Budokan, performing to a skeleton audience of only 5000. Su apparently gave a moving speech (in Japanese) and Momoko, as expected, was the Avenger. Of course, remaining concerts are on a knife edge, due to recent C-19 spikes
song writing gold- After one comes two, HEY! HEY! After two comes three, HEY! HEY! After three comes WHOA! four 4444444444444444......
Fun fact: In my country (Perú) we use that same Yon Yon pattern in a well known chant for the National Soccer Team. The sound comes from the Vuvuzela and a big drum and it goes like:
Ta-da , ta-da-da, ta-da-da-da... PERU! (instead of Yon Yon).
Nice reaction!
You must see the song with moa and yui, onedari daisakusen, it's really good, well everything about babymetal is great.
Yon yon!!! That gonna be stuck in my brain for like a whole week,
@@dicodec when I can't sleep with that tune keep ringging in my brain, I don't know if it's a pain or pleasure,
Song about 4, (yon, shi, four)
It's all about 4 and lot of pun and wordplay and gestures here,
(Shi)awase no (shi)
It's 4 for happiness
(Shi)nu janai (shi)
It's not 4 for death.
What a way to hyping the crowd, there are some BabyMetal songs that doesn't make senses when we hear the studio version, but totally a banger, fun and lot of crowd interactions Live.
Can't wait to see the METROCK, by the setlist, only 2 songs you never heard of it before, and i guarantee it'll be mind blowing in there.
The songs are

Yeah, BLACKBABYMETAL 🤘

Btw, number 4 in japan is a Bad number, and BABYMETAL just playing with that bad number haha

Happy New Year, guys!!
You know even without Su, the charisma is there is spades!!
I believe Yui and Moa were barely in their teens when they wrote this on that bus.
LMAO
As usual , you never fail to make us laugh good sires! Always thank you for great reactioooonnss!!
With that being said, all this fun reaction of yours makes me anticipate one for "onedairi daisakusen"
Still can't believe that Yui just literally fell out of that high stage of them and still oozing with energy.
Glad you enjoyed it! That's right. I did hear that she fell of stage and didn't get hurt. Yui is one tough kitsune for sure! 🤘🦊
I called it! Alan's elbow meets Eric's nose. Gotta find someone to turn that into a gif. 🤣
How to calm an 11 years old rock stars? Su gave them a task to make a song. So you get this.
The guitar riff is an homage to Metallica's "Master of Puppets."
Just a fun fact, the brakedown part at 2:50 is very similar to the one that you can here in Maximum The Hormone - UTSUKUSHIKIHITOBITONOUTA.
I thought this video came out the 6th and I was losing my mind but it makes sense that it's thr 4th 😂

So much fun. The only song the girls themselves have writing credits for. I imagine they didn't do the arrangements though.

I miss Yui. I just *know* her departure has to be more complicated than "health issues". But I've already accepted the fact that she's gone from Babymetal.
Same here, I feel like there is more behind it as well. Maybe she might come back for a performance or two later on.
It's a shame they don't do Black BM anymore cos obviously Yui isn't around.
But if she ever comes back n they do a reprise, I'll prob cry lol
Yui and Moa wrote this on the bus. Kobametal decided to use it. The pure simplicity of Babymetal is genius. And these girls can just mesmerise a crowd with their extreme demonic cuteness. It’s a shame Yui had to quit because of her health( believed to be long term back problems.) . GJ is another top black Babymetal song as is Onedari Daisakusen. Great stuff guys .👍👍
such a clever song, I wish there was video of them harassing the crew after they wrote it that would be so awesome to see
Светлане Рудецкой привет!
so you finally get the two of them together singing do they sound the same or different
As we all seen, people get a little to rambunctious in the mosh pit So throw in a little reggae to calm things down
Hey guys, react to Aldious - Sweet Temptation and be happy, an all-female Band from Japan hehe
I’ve never cared for BB but Moa has spoken about making another song similar to this which would be interesting.
Love this song! It may be a bit repetitive, but with Babymetal I don't really care. Especially with Yui and Moa doing crowd interaction ❤🤘
Also if you listen closely, I'm pretty sure the main riff during the verses is inspired by the main riff in Master of Puppets. A really cool reference, especially since that is Su, Moa, and Yui's favorite metal band
True, I can totally hear it. Nice catch. Yeah it definitely does help that it's live for sure. It is a dope song!

Yui fell off that stage, maybe 2, 3, 4 meters high, maybe? The show was still in the middle of the end. And she continued.
So this show has bars.
