🤔 If this had happened 20-25 years earlier, when Megadeth still had a lot of years of touring and recording ahead of them, Dave Mustaine would've surely fired him, BUT he probably would've given things a few years to cool off, then re-hired him. But Mustaine and Megadeth are closing in on the end, so I don't think there's enough time left for this story to blow over, and for Dave to rehire him.
Either way, I'm actually shocked that Ellefson took part in whatever this was with that girl. It seems incredibly weird and stupid. He had seemed like a more level headed person....

I often find myself wondering, “who’s their guitarist this week or, who’s their drummer on this album, and I feel like it’s has hurt megadeth in terms of music, fanbase, etc… Ellefson founded the band and was let go before he even had a chance to defend himself. The question is, was a crime committed? That’s what it comes down to for me. I don’t know every detail of the incident

They canceled their show in New Orleans, LA as well. Not sure why but I'm with you on not wanting to see Megadeth without Mr. Ellefson on bass. It's like Judas Priest without KK or Tipton. Could you imagine Iron Maiden without Harris or Murry. In the end, it's a decision we have no control over but have to learn to accept.

I have to say, I’m pretty disappointed in a considerable part of the metal community. I’ve often lauded them as being some of the absolute kindest, most understanding and supportive people in the world. Instead I’m seeing a lot of people kicking a guy when he’s down. I love Megadeth, seen them 14 times, and even met David years ago. I've been with them since day one, and since day one, Dave Mustaine has been a prick. However, he sprung into the douchebag stratosphere with the whole David Ellefson situation. David sacrificed a lot, having to deal with Mustaine and all his bullshit over the decades, and Mustaine fires the one dude that stood behind him all those years!?! And over a f**king sex scandal! That was once a requirement in rock n roll. As much as I love Megadeth, I will never give Mustaine another dollar without Ellefson in the band and a huge public apology.

It wasnt Mustaine that Ellefson was sueing, it was the record company and a contract that they wanted to take all his life's work and reissue it without paying him a cent.. Mustaine has publicly stated that 'Dave did what he has to do, and didn't bear him any ill will for it' meanwhile all these videos that Dave M is putting out with Kiko trying to pretend they've been buddy-buddies for years make me sick because there's bugger all left in the band to talk about (I think Kiko is a nice guy for the record)

Dave mustaine is not the bad guy here for protecting his brand. Ellefson did meet the girl when she was 17,but according to him didn't make any videos with her till she was 19. So he wants a pat on the back for grooming her to acceptable legal age,so therefore it's ok in his mind.The man still doesn't get it and that's probably why he alluded to his family not being 100% supportive. Dave how can we miss you if you won't go away?

I don't think it's his MO or how he lives his life but what he did was gross at best; I seriously doubt he wants his kids having interactions with anyone 3X their age. I like Dave. I've always like Dave, he's possibly the most likeable guy in the he band. Of course I don't know what really happened but I don't see any reason why he should loose his job.
