- I think this Hoover Sensotronic dates from 1982 as it's an early model. The cleaner itself is in very good condition (almost) and is styled in a lovely milk chocolate colour.

Its date code is 204, that is 1982 month 04. That was right at the start of the 1982 Falklands war if you have a good memory Roger, and also the year the Mary Rose was raised, and Channel 4 launched. So often these couriers are just so rough and careless with people's parcels, its getting beyond a joke. Such a great pity it didnt have the original hose either, but I think the speed control slider may just need a cleaning internally with some contact cleaner to restore the full range of speeds, in order that the machine doesnt switch off completely when the slider is on minimum. It's had hardly any use at all judging by the lack of any carbon dust in the motor compartment - a really nice find as its a dead early one.
Those Sensotronic wheels look like what was used on the Hoover Concept One here in the USA.
Oh wow, I forgot about this vac. This was sold 2 1/2 years ago. Back in late 2021.
Out of curiosity can the coloured plastic cap on the wheel be prised out and the broken party be extracted from that side?
No, the wheel cap is moulded to the hub.

No. I don’t think 3d printing is good enough yet. I’d rather wait until I can get the correct part or repair what I have.

Because I was alive at the time and have the first brochure dated 1982.
12:36 just swap the hubcap on the wheel, there's no need to do all that. take a box cutter and pry it off and put a new wheel on the old hubcap. there's 3 snap tabs holding them on at 10, 2 and 6 positions.

Sensotronic 3 and 5 had remote controls, 4 and 5 had power heads… ie, you could have one, the other or both. 1 just had a cord rewind, 2 had variable power on the machine. The machines became 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 with the second generation…
