Let that be a lesson to you, America: Public education is vital to democracy. Why do you think certain political groups are forever trying to cut its funding, and advocating for private schools? In order for democracy to work, in order for one person's vote to equal another person's vote, one person's basic education level needs to equal another person's basic education level. It's no good having the right to vote, if you don't have the mental apparatus to make an informed decision about who and what you're voting on.
Don't forget the lessons from your own past. Remember your Thomas Paine: "Reason obeys itself, and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it."

Why are we so afraid how Putin understands something we eventually do, how he interprets our steps so that we don't accidentally offend him? To the hell with Putin's opinions. Kremlin has only one policy. To LIE. Kremlin power comes from lying. Lying big, and getting the whole damn world to play along with them. Once they got everybody agreeing with what they know in their hearts ain't true, they've got us by the neck.
Putin is liar and faker, who rules trough fear. Atomics? Mutual assured destruction (MAD) is a doctrine of military strategy and national security policy in which a full-scale use of nuclear weapons by two or more opposing sides would cause the complete annihilation of both the attacker and the defender. Putin can not launch them by himself, he needs both Shoygu and Gerasimov to do so and they are not mad.
In these very moments there are children in Mariupol who dies from dehydration, there is NO water now, no supplies. Russians not let anyone in or out. All ways from the city are mined and shelled. Hospitals in numerous cities are now deliberately shelled and bombed. It is russian pattern. Encircle the city and shell it with Grad and Smerch rocket artilery, conventional artilery, airstrikes... salvo after salvo. You saw it in Grozny, you saw it in Syria, now you can see this in Mariupol and Khariv. Purpose is one and only - to inflict TERROR, to break morale, by ruthless killing of women and children alike. The most barbaric way to wage a war. It is genocide. Another of long line of war crimes made by Putin. Recent reckless attacks on nuclear energy power plants and blatant cynical violations of the Geneva Conventions show us clearly, that Putin's Russia is terrorist state, unpredictable, lying, deceptive and dangerous to humankind. It is war against western world.
How long will be just keep watching. Must Chornobyl, where russians now cut of power for cooling, again leak radiation. Must the biggest european nuclear power plant Zaporizhzhia became another Chornobyl dissaster? Must we see radioactive cloud overe Europe again, and only then we maybe seriously assist Ukraine or what? Do you know that russians also there allowed only skeleton crew to hold them as hostages and that russians mined this facality with explosives? This is nuclear terrorism. Pure and simple.
Putin is and always has been killer (rememeber Litvinenko, Politkovskaya, Nemcov and many others), and now we already know his recent stunt - he send "Wagner group" neo-nazi murderers and assassins to Kyiv to kill Zelenskyy, his cabinet members, and even their families. I reckon he is trully mentally ill.
After all "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" as Lord Acton said already in 19th century. Quite accurate description of tsar Putin the Bloody .
"Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject."
      - John Stuart Mill, 1867
"Appeasement policy, the policy of appeasing Hitler and Mussolini, operating jointly at that time, during 1937 and 1938 by continuous concessions granted in the hope of reaching a point of saturation when the dictators would be willing to accede to international collaboration. ... It came to an end when Hitler seized Czechoslovakia on March 15, 1939, in defiance of his promises given at Munich, and Prime Minister Chamberlain, who had championed appeasement before,
decided on a policy of resistance to further German aggression."
      - Walter Theimer (ed.), The Penguin Political Dictionary, 1939
Putin understands only power and determination. Everything else is sign of weakness for him. Do everything what is in your power to drive Putin's kleptocracy to the end. I wish there were influential politicians who could see things clearly. Those who would not be frightened, weak, shaky and corrupt through money from the oligarchs of East and West alike. Those who had the determination of real leaders capable of taking responsibility. Maybe they still exist somewhere and maybe their voice will get to the right ears before is too late, I still believe it, I have to. Talk to your representatives. God bless you...

After the Afghan war with the Americans they still got billions and billions of dollars which again was totally waisted money. The people of Afghanistan, who despised the Taliban with every fibre of their being were grief stricken and lost all hope. Two days later 9/11 happened, which apparently gave the US an excuse to invade Afghanistan. Every terrorist that carried out the act of 9/11 was an arab and Bin Laden (also an arab) the mastermind behind the attack ended up being found in Pakistan, in a condo provided to him by the Pakistani government. But they still invaded Afghanistan?????? Anyway, the US provided only air support as requested by the northern alliance (made up mainly of ethnically Tajiks and then also Uzbeks and Hazaras). The Taliban (who are ethnically Pashtoon) were defeated in months!!!! 9/11 happened September and the Taliban were defeated in December. That's when the 'Yankees' and the the other piece of Sh*t Nato countries put together a corrupt, fascist, Talib sympathising government that allowed the the Taliban resurgence to take place. I should also add that even though the Taliban were Pashtoon (and still are) and defeated by Tajiks, Uzbeks and Hazaras, they made the President a pashtoon (Karzai then followed by Ghani). I am aware that there are twats in every ethnic group, however, pashtoons are a whole other breed backward animals. Obviously having them in power was better because it was easier to drive corruptness in the country and maintain instability to as you said loot the country's natural resources, precious stones...... There so much to say, too much really - but it's like talking to a brick wall. The people of the west won't accept the truth, or how evil their governments are. That country needs to be split because Pashtoons are not capable to live in peace and will continue to ethnically cleanse and commit genocide on every other ethnic group that resides in that country.

That's humiliating, and lets not forget all the soldiers who gave their life in vain 'protecting their country'. Or what has happened in Afghanistan for the past 40+ years has gone to plan for the West (and this is the truth. these terrorist groups are a creation of the west), which just shows how evil the West is. The US may have spent 3 trillion (i think), but I'm sure they benefited much more in terms of having bases active in that geographic location, all those natural resources, precious stones..... Mate just open your eyes. do you not see the hypocrisy of it all. It;s honestly cringe worthy to see how the west is outraged by what Russia has done to Ukraine, when their own governments have done it to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, the list goes on.

According to one estimate by a Russian economist, as many as 200,000 Russians have left their country since the start of the war in Ukraine, with more than 25,000 alone arriving in Georgia since Russia's invasion began.
