this is so cool! i’ve been thinking about doing a big man cosplay and i wanted to ask about how you did the zipper on his face? this is only my second time making something from scratch for a cosplay and i figure i could either hand stitch or hot glue the patterns onto his body but i’m not sure how you did the zipper :o
I actually used two 60cm long zippers. I made it so when they were closed, they would (as good as they can) seal the face of big man to not have any zippers anywhere else visible on the body since we would already have a seam between the light and dark grey fabric there. I just made sure that I pinned the zippers along the contour of the belly first and then I lined them up once I also started to connect the rest of the belly to the body. Another tip I would give is to maybe even see that you make it so the handle of the zippers is facing inwards. We forgot to do this, and it is still possible to open the suit from the inside, but it would have been a lot easier if we made them reachable while you were wearing the suit.
also if you have the patience I would suggest still sowing the patterns onto the body. with the heat that you will get with the suit, the glue might not hold with the sweat that would get into the fabric. plus the hot glue behind the fabric would also solidify the patterns.

Yes! sorry for the late reply But I wanted to make sure I got the full list. For tools you need: - exacto knife - box cutter knife - heat gun - heat protective gloves - sewing machine - printer (for the patterns and do keep in mind that these are for someone that's 2 meters tall. So you might need to scale them back a bit) (- 3D printer, but this is optional for the the shaping of the eyes. I will add another comment on how to do those.) - brushes and paints
for materials you need: Body: - 8 meters of dark grey fabric (we used fleece, do keep in mind that his is a soft but warm fabric) - 5 meters of light grey fabric (we used fleece) - 2 sheets of EVA floormats for the feet - 2x 2000x1000mm 5mm EVA foam sheet to thicken up the wings - little bit of black tule for the back of the mouth - little bit of red fleece for the tongue Eyes - plastic cross stitching canvas for the eyes www.amazon.nl/dp/B0CCHRDS5B?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - air drying clay Crown - xps foam - aluminium wire - 6m of thick red cord for the twine wraped around the crown -few buttons to make a loop that goes around the twine that holds the crown in place - white acrylic paint - red acrylic paint - gold spraypaint - two fitting bottle caps for the golden ends of the crown Support - 6mm plywood (to put in the ends of Big Man's wings when you wear it to keep them from curling up) - upholstery foam (to make a headpiece to give better shape to Big Man's head while you wear it) (most of the time you will need enough to make it 30 cm thick, with the size big man's head. So the top of his head in the pattern to your shoulders and then so wide that a straight horizontal line matches up with the pattern)
then for the eyes. Instead of the 3D print that I had used here, you could try to make the buck yourself using some paper to make a base, then cover this with aluminium foil and then cover this with air drying clay. as long as you don't put that itself in the oven you should be able to use this as a buck to heatshape the cross stitching canvas to the shape of your clay eyes using the heatgun or oven and some heat protective gloves. But please do ask for help of your parents or guardian if your still young! (in the video we used a cross stitching fabric, but the holes in the fabric did not give us a good enough sight. But if you are stil confused about this part, we are planning on making a short about remaking the eyes in this way so if you leave this part for last you can follow that to also make your eyes!)

For this Cosplay I did not prepare the patterns for other people to also try. But for almost all of my projects I try to have the patterns linked in their descriptions for people that also want to make those projects themselves! Although if you want to make the Big Man cosplay specifically, I can see that I link the huge array of A3 sheets that I used as the pattern in the description together with the 3D model for the mould for the eyes. Just give us a quick reply and I can see that I export the files and drop them in a drive!
I want to try and keep the patterns for most projects open for everyone so that as much people as possible get the support they might need to start to explore their creativity. But larger things, like the 3D models for some FDM or Resin printed parts of dioramas or project are more likely to be posted exclusively to Patreon since those people will probably have a higher chance of owning a 3D printer. As well as the usual perks like sneak peaks at projects, shout outs during the final showcases, early video previews, full look at the schedule, etc. are exclusively on the Patreon.
