Love them all! I’ve worked with encaustic process. What is a little less cost is using just bees wax. Brushing that over bits of all kinds looks really cool!❤️

I came up with a plan to use a dryer sheet and glue it over a dried flower to form a textured curtain effect....haven’t tried it yet but I know it will be cool! I love doing recycled art projects (“no cost” for sure!) TYFS ❤️🦋💜

You are amazing at no cost art. I try my best to keep it low/no cost for my charity workshop sessions as most of them are vulnerable adults as you know who maybe can't afford all the nice art supplies. But I struggle a lot with the ideas and some sessions lately I really feel like cancelling sometimes because I worry about repeating same ideas or accidentally copying you somehow, I try my best to be very conscious of that! But I end up blocking myself a lot creatively. Today I will be doing a no/low cost Easter card though which of course I will share later 😊 I just love how you layer up the lace and papers, you always make it so stunning, you are beyond talented 🥰

I paint in encaustics and have created mixed media pieces with it. Yes it can be rather expensive, but for crafters there are ways to recommend people split the costs of a bag of premade encaustic medium or make it themselves and split it with others which will save even more. I can point you to a tutorial on how to make it if you need one. Because it is a hot medium I want to remind everyone it is important to follow safety guidelines to protect yourselves and so the medium doesnt get ruined by getting too hot. It's not hard, but safety is important. I make mine on my kitchen counter in an old electric skillet. The skillet cannot be used for food once it is used for encaustic medium...so make a note of that one. I don't know how much you know about encaustic painting otherwise ,but as an artist will say that I do love how it can be used to marry other types of art I do, like water color, artist pastels, dried plant material, stamping, stencils and more, with the encaustic paints to create an entirely new form of artwork for me.
IMPORTANT TIPS.. Encaustic medium and other wax will not stick to acrylic paint, plastics or metal. They may adhear for a time but will eventually seperate so it is always best to have all elements secured in place using a water soluable glue like PVA glue, YES glue or other non yellowing water based glue, or they can be stitched into place to secure. Basically that means that encaustic medium can be used on anything that will soak up the hot wax, like bare wood, dried plant materieal, cotton or other natural fabric and papers. Fabrics with textures can also be used too as long as the fibers are natural. I love working with Encaustics because it lends itself to mixed media very well as well as for painting and even for making 3D pieces with, something I am trying to learn how to do.. SO I hope this will help. ~Patty~

U are just amazing!
I don’t recommend encaustic when you have little children around. It can be dangerous. You also need proper ventilation or you can develop serious respiratory problems. If you want to have a safe, faux-encaustic play, try using crayons and a heat tool or old warming plate from the thrift store. It can be a lot of fun and will give you an indication of whether you want to invest in the real thing in the future.

i think you should go for it... my aunt Gilda did a ton of encaustic art work. 🤗 she passed away in 2014 😭 but her you tube channel is still up so art students & every one can still benefit from her teaching. Her name is Gilda Snowden... i still miss her every day, but she was an incredible artist and teacher...
