In December 2021 Hugh Newman and JJ Ainsworth discovered the oldest known winter solstice alignment recorded anywhere on Earth. Dating to a staggering 11,400 years ago, Karahan Tepe, the sister site to Göbekli Tepe in southeast Turkey, revealed its long lost secrets on the morning of December 20th of that year. Having only recently been excavated, this was the first time enough of the multiple-enclosure site had been opened up to prove any such alignments could exist. In this video they are joined by Andrew collins over several mornings to observe and record the phenomenon. At ten minutes after sunrise, a blade of light appears on the side of a protruding stone head in Structure AB (the Pillar Shrine), a sunken area containing 10 upright phallic-shaped monoliths carved from bedrock and one free-standing monolith. On its southeastern edge, a carved hole, shaped from bedrock, leads into the main enclosure. It is through this that the winter solstice sunrise light beamed through illuminating the stone head over a 45-minute period. we later determined, using sophisticated astronomical software, that it would have been even more impressive in 9400 BC, illuminating more of the stone head than it does today. However, the fact that this can still be witnessed today, makes it the most important, and by far the oldest example of how the ancients built megalithic sites to mark this turning point of the year. Includes exclusive 3D graphics created by Kevin Eslinger @ESLINGERART and drone footage from Dakota Wint @dakotawint

I said this years ago on other channels im not sure if some people maybe read it, if you go on Google Earth and use the measuring distance tool its roughly the same distance to Cairo, Constantinople, Baku, Basrah, Tehran. The distance to walk at 20 miles a day is about 3-4 weeks from all areas.

Modern civilization with its people gathered in large cities don't seem to be concerned too very much with the winter solstice and are generally unaware of its importance 11kya. So much has pushed it into the deep background as other traditions have oriented to the solstice. But, there are the neo-pagans that have awakened to the so ancient ritual of observing the solstice. Happy Yule to every one and have a blessed new year.

I live just off the Old Kent Road in London. It's a roman road, but it must go back even farther. It's aligned with the winter solstice.
So I wonder what the archaeologists in 5000 years will be saying. Will they say look the roads lined with temples. We have the Temple of Tesco, the Temple of ASDA and lots of minor temples.
We have also discovered there was technology run by women priestesses, who also were in charge of the astronomical calculator. We have one place with tools, and there are images of women with bare breasts on them. Underneath are numbers which show a clear calendrical purpose. So it must be a matriarchal society. Theses priestesses were part of the cult of Pirelli. :-)

@MegalithomaniaUK How did the archeologists arrive at the date of 11k 14k years ago? It looks similar to G. Tepe but with less detailed reliefs.

Thanks for all you do, Hugh. I'm sure someone much brighter has considered the following: I wonder if the stone pillars are symbolically phallic, as well as apparently symbolizing the whole human body. I imagine that if you want to symbolize more than one thing with a singular object, you would have to make it abstract. I wonder if that's what we're seeing here, an intentionally abstract shape in order to symbolize more than one thing. Especially for what's been uncovered at Karahan Tepe, compared to Gobekli Tepe, the pillars do seem somewhat phallic.

this Site Really gives me the shivers tbh, as I am certain this is a Ritual Human Sacrifice Site Trial by water with something Deadly in the water, or several of them, with say 5 people thrown in at the same time at one spot, and the only way out is on the opposite side and you have to get past those pillars somehow. Odds maybe that one out of the five might just survive to get pulled out on the other side. As soon as I saw an o srhead view, it flashed that sort of memory about the damned place tbh. 😡😡😡😡😡

Thank you and very well done- Teşekkürler ! 🙏🏼 I had a visit to KT not long after the excavation began / visitor center was set up. It’s a great adventure renting a car in Urfa, driving south towards Syria 🇸🇾 before turning off to find Karahan in the Turkish country side. Keep it up 👍. Also stumbled upon the cut marks 7:50
And have shared footage in a video ( personal page) you do great work in such a remote region.
Cut marks also found in video below ( 3 min mark ). I find, regardless of solar time of the year, that the days are never ‘long enough’ to take in all of the mystery/energy of such a place as Karahan.
