    In November of 2023, I made changes to my hair care because t appeared that I was suffering from Female pattern baldness, which my mother had also. I followed more of a scientific approach and one of the practices that I stopped immediately was using a comb and brush. After watching young girls and grown women on you tube brush their hair, hold the bolus of supposed shred hair in their hand and call it normal, shook me to my core! Then sometime later had to cut six or more inches of their hair and start from scratch because they destroyed their hair! They gave every excuse in the book, except the prime reason that was staring them in the face: the over manipulation of their hair!! Did you know that in Victorian times that women did not wash their hair even once a week and were know known to only finger detangle along with other low manipulation practices! They had hair down to their hips. This is not a coincidence. Since I have stopped using mechanical means on my hair, I have added four inches of growth, and my hair is much healthier. I believe that you are on the correct path. I wish you much success with your journey!

    Your hair style is EATING right now! So beautiful! I'm definitely considering ditching combs and brushes. I just have such a tight coil pattern that I'm unable to get ALL the tangles out (although, one could argue that with tightly coiled hair, should tangle-free be a goal?). However, I love finger detangling. I usually do it before going in with a brush or detangling comb (which a comb only touches my hair every 2-3 months). This was helpful! You look ravishing too!

      Hello and thank you Coily Code, love the name.
      You make a great point. I was listening to Precious Fro and she too has stopped using detangling tools. But what she was saying even with the finger detangling she detangles her hair for what is needed for the desired hairstyle or look.

      @A_Wilson Před měsícem +1

      @CoilyCode. I think if you started strictly finger detangling, you’ll see your hair increase in thickness. At least that was my experience. You’ll also develop a better knowing and appreciation for your hair, not to say you don’t now. It’s just a bit more intimate. It sounds weird but it’s true. I haven’t used a comb in almost 8 months, and my hair is thriving. I just don’t see myself using a comb again, except to make a part. 😅

    I'm so glad you've had success with letting go of the tangling tools ❤
    Yes, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on perfectionism with natural hair. I stopped trying to make my hair look 'perfect.'
    I cannot and do not want to slick my hair down every day. I cannot get on this laid baby hairs thing. My hair is perfect once I've left a hairdressers. My hair is pretty when I do it myself. My hair can also be messy if I just do not have the time. My hair reflects a real person.
    I think some may feel their natural hair has to be perfect at all times to be acceptable. I feel these same folks wouldn't have this condition on straight hair because however that comes, it'll always be good.
    Thanks for the update x

    Hey Mya, yes I love your update and your question about perfectionism and natural hair.
    In my opinion the idea of having perfectly styled natural hair May have carried over from the expectations set from the relaxed days and going to the salon. I mean we’ve seen perfectly curled pixie cuts and versions of styles on those 12 x 12 posters at the hair dresser for us to choose from. Those styles were perfectly executed so everyone knew when you have a good hairdresser. There were more examples of how relaxed hair can be styled so there was more of a standard or goal and there more trained professionals who could handle relaxed hair.
    But when it comes to natural hair there are Silkpressers, Locticians, braiders, cornrowers, hairstylists who can do a wash and go twist out, but not as many persons capable of styling I don’t know how describe it, but like how you wear your hair. Open hair and shaping it? Like persons who can sculpt a style from the Afro state or a twist out maybe?
    So I realized that I set the standard, I am setting the standard on how our hair can be worn from special occasions back down to every day. I also learnt and am learning how to have reasonable expectations for the outcome of a style, because who’s to say my style isn’t perfect? It’s the first time I’m seeing it on natural hair 😂 and the other person as well lol 😂 if I had wanted to tuck a curl here and it didn’t want to go there today well alright, imma just work with it so looks good lol. Your hairstyles really inspire me too and am taking notes on this one❤

    Hi Mya. I have to say that having good trimmed ends contribute to successful finger detangling. I too find personal hair care therapeutic. I look forward to seeing your method of finger detangling and your different maneuvers, esp using the praying hands method. Your Chebe journey has been truly fascinating...esp with the reduction in shedding and breakage. As of now (on wash day) I am doing a combination of finger detangling and using the wet brush, however when refreshing I just finger detangle. Beautiful hair style! 💗

    I had bought the Unbrush to see what the hype was about and literally have used it once MAYBE twice this entire year and before that I had use a paddle brush to detangle when I didn’t have the time to properly detangle. But finger detangling for my fine strands is the best option. I don’t really my hair out anymore (haven’t since 2020 - I work in hospitals) it’s always twisted, braided or wrapped up.

    How does Chebe reduce shedding when it’s not applied to the scalp? Really interested to know. Thanks

    • @KlassicallyKept
      @KlassicallyKept  Před měsícem +2

      When doing research this is what you will mainly find when people talk about or report about the benefits of chebe.
      "The primary benefit when using chebe seed on your hair is its use to reconstruct and strengthen the bond and shaft of your hair strands. It supplies your hair with intense moisture and improves elasticity. Another benefit is that it nourishes and hydrates your follicles, so there is little to no breakage."
      source prettywellbeauty.com/blogs/supernatural/chebe-seed-and-the-benefits-for-growing-longer-stronger-hair#:~:text=The%20primary%20benefit%20when%20using,is%20little%20to%20no%20breakage.
      For myself, I find these claims to be true.
      When I started using chebe the first thing I noticed was the lack of shedding. People have also reported back to me that they have seen a reduction in shedding as well.
      My hair is moist moisturized which aids in less breakage so I can retain length.
      I have found my hair to be stronger, which leads to less breakage and is allowing all of my strands to grow which in turn is leading to thicker hair.
      Ultimately, you must find what works for you, your hair, and your lifestyle. Everything product, every process, and every routine does not work for every person. As of right now chebe is working for me and I plan to use it for the foreseeable future.

    • @LimitlessBloom
      @LimitlessBloom Před měsícem

      @@KlassicallyKept thank you for this detailed response. So from what you’ve shared, it seems to be more of a length retention thing due to the fact that the hair is very moisturised and is not breaking/shedding as much. I’ve had the powder for a while but been a little confused with the contradicting info out there. Some say put it on your scalp, others say don’t 😅. I plan to infuse it in a thick oil and use it as a sealant. That oil is currently infused with Amla but I will add the Chebe to it and see how it goes. I’d try the powder mixed with leave in but I’m scared of it touching my scalp and causing itching. Thanks for sharing your journey 💕

    There is beauty in our imperfect state right now as well and those who choose to have the well put together aesthetic so be it. Those who choose not to have that particular aesthetic so be it.
