Amazing. I wasn't expecting the spider to win this fight, much less with seemingly no injuries.
I think it came down more to physical damage rather than envenomation as although the centipede got in two good bites the chelicerae on the spider were longer than the centipede is wide and being hit with those would have been like having pickaxes slammed into you. The second bite from those pickaxes clearly fucked up the centipede's face.
Centipedes seriously struggle against spiders that are similar size or bigger than them. The spider is too agile and bulky

A good amount of them are very docile, gentle giants. You can tell that this one really didn't wanna fight, it was self defense.

@@miguelgomes4300 it's still risky regardless, especially given the very little substrate that's on the ground of what I can presume would be a hard fall. I get that Arboreal tarantulas are less likely to get hurt because they are lighter, but their exoskeleton is still fragile. You wouldn't see a Poeci naturally in the kind of environment this person placed it in either and so I stand by my comment when I say it's extremely irresponsible and risky. I wouldn't want any of my arboreal's to fall from that height onto a solid ground with very little substrate.

My Scolopendra heros will win in a heartbeat. That said this is an awfully expensive fight (P.formosa at 250 dollars+ and the centipede at 30+). Plus these creatures are generally considered pets and it's not very ethical.
The centipede in this video seems rather docile to me tbh, and it doesn't seem like it's ever had anything put up a fight

Tarantulas are smarter, they know a conflict like this will harm both. Only engages in self defence when theres no option to flee. Centipede only knows to attack anything that moves, even if its getting himself killed
This centipede obviously has never been in a real right before, it really stood no chance. Centipedes are actually pretty smart, this one has just been pampered and is weak. Would probably lose to a house centipede.

I've always been fascinated by arachnids and Anthropods but they should be kept in seperate enclosures at all times. I will never do something remotely close to this to my animals
